I think today I would like to be the observer.

Sure, help. Let me show you HOW to help...

Patrick...the blink monkey will be in Jade Regent!!!! :-)

The Exchange

can I get time off for good behavior?

The Exchange

I have to work all day, it is slow here for once, and it is beautiful outside. All I can do is watch the geese walk past the window.

The Exchange

and here I sit, all alone it seems while everyone else is out doing, whatever.

I hope the weather where you are all at is as fine as it seems like it will be here.

It is nice outside, but driving all over all day does get boring.

I need to write a little bit, then sleep a little bit.

I'm here, but not sure how much longer. I'm about to go work out and kill some time, but I'm not allowed to have over time right now which means I can only really work about 4.5 hours today. It is nice outside today. But then it usually is around here. Wish we had some good rain or snow, honestly.

Realizing that others can see this, I still kind of feel like I need to vent...

Spoiler:
Here's the post...

I don't get it. What are people expecting when they post controversial topics? CF's post just seems a bit odd to me. He posts something that he knows is going to get a response, then seems genuinely surprised at the reaction and feels that he needs to take time off from the boards. And maybe his reaction is a genuine "I probably shouldn't have posted that in the first place, I need to figure out why I did..." But that's just not how it came across to me.

For the record, I actually like exchanging ideas and thoughts with CF. I know that others may not as much. He strikes me as someone who is at least searching -- and plays "Devil's advocate" (perhaps a bit too much).

But sometimes I truly wonder what people are thinking will happen when they post some things. Because then they seem surprised at the reactions they do get.

Anyway, just kind of confused by the reaction.

~comes in with a horrified look on my face~ OMG!!! Please say it isn't so! This is so horrible. Can someone do something about it?

Spoiler:
He's a philosopher at heart. The conversation goes to nitpicking when he wants to discuss things at a higher level. I think I often feel the way he does, but I've learned that I can often quiet the voice in my head asking "Why?" by thinking about it myself or going and finding a book. His mind is always in motion, so when things bog down I don't blame him for feeling like he needs to get away for a while.

I wonder if he really means it, though. A lot of things get said when people are feeling heated. We'll see when and if he comes back. I think it shows a lot of respect for the opinions of folks here that he chooses to come back and post his topics. I think what he seeks, though, he won't find on a gaming forum.

Meh. Bad day and a lame 3pp publisher plays a crappy joke on folks who have waited a long time for a certain product. Not making my afternoon any better.

Yeesh. That's some heavy stuff to be talking about around here. In the military we're dealing with the repeal of Don't Ask, Don't Tell (which I'm emphatically glad that we're doing away with) and the discourse on our side of things is kind of sickening. You never realize just how shamefully ignorant people can be.

I haven't read a lot of CF's posts, but I didn't see anything aimed at him that precipitated his hasty withdrawal. Hopefully he'll cool down a bit and come back... it seems he does this regularly?

Nah. He disappeared for a while a few months back and we all wondered where he'd gone. I thought he got a kind welcome when he came back.
