Nah, that was just indigestion. Besides, Urizen seems to have disappeared.

I still see him on facebook, wonder whats up?

I stopped at Radio Shack today to pick up solder wick and asked the lady there where it was. She took me to the appropriate section, then asked, "Is something going on today, because nobody ever wants soldering stuff and you're like the eight person today who has bought some."

Soooo... is it a soldering festival today? Or does everybody traditionally solder on Labor Day weekend?

I thought Labor Day was when you went out and threw rotten tomatoes on the nearest Tory MP...

...oh wait, that's Labour Day.

When I was out on my way to get some lunch today, I passed a guy wearing a really garish Hawaiian style shirt and equally garish (and clashing) board shirts.

Ok, it is a sunny early spring day here but dude, it is not summer and you are not at the beach!

Heh heh.
I saw a guy at Wal Mart with like
blue plaid shirt and
green plaid shorts.

sneaks into thread, leaves several labor day pies, then sneaks out

Happy Labor Day. Enjoy a well earned rest.

The Exchange

have a happy day off work. I will be in for a long day working. Ah the trails and travails of paying bills, or trying to.

I am assuming you meant board shorts. I think some people just do not know how to dress themselves.

AS Spanky pointed out, Wal*Mart is as good a place as any to see this in great detail.

Anyway, it'll be good to see old friends, the few who haven't moved on as well.

Ok seriously, ;) how long has it been since you were with your old unit?

Hmm, three years? Three and a half counting the time I was away for training. Ended up getting back from training and leaving a week later.

I think there are like, five people I know left, judging from the pictures of their departure on Facebook.

I know I often wonder what happens to people years later. At least this way you have a chance to catch up with a few. Hopefully they are those you wished to catch up with.

Silver Crusade

Morning, all. What did I miss?

The Exchange

I guess not much.

The Exchange

Ever notice how many lets build, [current famous character that has a movie about him/her/it] threads that there are??

I mean are only so many ways you can make a Paladin/Monk carrying a shield as a throw-able weapon threads.

The Exchange

I will be off of work at a normal time today. I think I shall faint.

I think the problem with building a famous movie/book character is that said characters are the central point of the story. They don't adhere to any concerns over balance. Conan can have elements of rogue/fighter/barbarian/monk all mixed together, because a story narrative and an RPG game are two different animals.

That being said, I don't see any harm in trying to approximate the characters in stats, it's just that it's like trying to put square peg in round hole. The fit will never be perfect. You have to settle for approximations.

Also, everyone will argue endlessly about WHAT the character can do Pathfinder-wise. Thus leading to another morbid rules circle-jerk.

The min/max CharOp mavens say they stay away from OTD like the plague. Conversely, I haven't opened up the rules discussion section in over a year. I know which one is trollier.

The Exchange

Yes, I try to stay away; however I do at times look for conversions and other house rules ect.. that others have done. It is fascinating. Some of it is really good. Other things have me scratching my head wondering why did they even bother. Some are things I think are really dumb questions, yet then I notice 20 people asking similar questions and think maybe I am looking at it wrong, or differently anyway. A few times I still think some people are still nutty.

The Exchange

That and I want a game where min/max is non optimal. And building the character and adjusting the character for 20th when first made. How the heck are you going to know what is coming up?? what PrC's are you going to run into that you might want to learn?

I want a game that is fun for everyone, has interesting plot twists, exciting battles, intriguing characters, and all-around good times.

If a rule gets in the way of that, it's gone.

Scarab Sages

I want....dinner.

Also, I just want to game. Period. That'd be nice again.

Yeah, I find all these endless arguments about which style of gaming is better really pointless – just play people.

I enjoy a low point buy, heavy roleplaying game, I enjoy really tactical combat games, I enjoy powergaming, I enjoy a game where I start naked in a dungeon with a blunt stick ... or even an RPG version of that last one ...

This is the greatest post I have read in quite some time. It made my wife snort-giggle.

Also, to answer your question, yes.

It's a hobby that encourages cliquish thinking unfortunately, and sometimes you're going to get days where the lamb is going to try to understand the wolf, and vice versa.
