*sigh*
I like the guy who worked second shift today. He seems like a nice guy, and usually does a great job. But when he tells me that he was able to finish up the online training that the manager assigned him, and do a bunch of homework--including writing a 5-page paper--and still spend quite a bit of time sitting around bored, and yet there are 3 or 4 loads of towels in the back waiting to be washed, I get annoyed.

Maybe if I threaten to get nekkid whenever he leaves laundry undone he'll be likely to get it all done.

That may have some significant undesired unexpected results, depending on where one is at.

Probably not the best course of action.

Tangent: The use of 'Karen' needs to be carefully monitored. Have kin named this that are awesome people and nowhere near the meme.

So, yesterday we got just over 3.5" of rain. I commented to GothBard that it was the strongest steady rain I'd seen in many years; I didn't recall seeing a storm like it since my high school days.

Turns out I was correct. The strongest storm here in 26 years, and tied for third-strongest since 1950.

Which says more about our lack of rain than it does about the storm -- I've been in much worse storms even in the Central Valley. When your weather is eternally on quaaludes, even something as straightforward as an all-day steady rain is a feat.

But the question remains: is the feat useful for many character builds, very niche, or just bad?

I'd say it's a poor character class that needs a feat just to bring itself up to "normal".

No idea yet. Won't be able to say anything until after I'm dismissed.

And I'm likely to be dismissed before the trial starts. I'm the only long-haired hippie in the room.

You really wonder about some GMs.

Pre-game Discussion: 3 of 5 players explicitly state that they dislike interparty conflict. The same 3 explicitly state that they prefer to play "good guys".

Character Generation: Given the preferences, I choose a strongly Good-aligned cleric with almost delusional faith in her church to intentionally give the GM some juicy hooks if he wants to corrupt the church. Another player chooses to play a vagabond wizard from the same region.

Halfway through the first session: GM offers a free background trait: Your home town was murdered by an evil wizard, who then framed you for it by handing you the wand he did it with. Vagabond wizard jumps at the chance and accepts the trait.

GM smiles wickedly and tells the vagabond wizard that he's now wanted in his homeland and can never return.
"I can accept that," the player replies.

GM turns to me. "The man in your party is wanted for mass murder, and it's your job to bring him in. What are you going to do about it?"

=====
So, exactly WHAT part of, "No PvP" is, "I'm going to dangle a juicy background in front of one player to force player conflict?"

After several years of dealing with WW's appallingly evil PC whom my PC would have killed the very first night but I couldn't because "no PvP", I never want to play that kind of game again. I've made it clear on these boards, "If you want to be evil, I'll find another table, thanks."

We made it clear at the planning session for the campaign: "We don't want PvP nor evil PCs."

And session 1 I'm supposed to run my fellow player in.

Am displeased.

How do you do, matey?

In other news, tonight involved:

Sword and dagger x 2
Single sword x 2
Spear vs spear
Short spear & round shield vs. Kite shield and axe.

I got a load of whacks on the legs, which I am still feeling, and will have vivid purple lower limbs by tomorrow, but them's the breaks.

Amusingly enough, the GM has had enough "bad encounters" with players that he insisted that we elect a "player advocate" to pass on our concerns. We were thinking, "WTH? We get along great! How on Earth are we going to have issues?"

And now we know.

And the "player advocate" is wizard's player.

Given, "I'm going to have the rest of the party beat you, hogtie you, and drag you off to prison," I think he's got a vested interest in helping me out here.

EDIT: So, I'll be blunt. The player has a great sense of humor. He'd LOVE to do exactly that to teach the GM a lesson, resulting in a neverending revolving door of PCs killing each other every time the GM tried to give us any background at all. "You're from the town of Gronk..."
"Gronk! We were slaughtered by elves! I kill every elf in the party!"

It would've been fun and funny at 24. At 54, we'd prefer a non-stupid campaign, thanks.

So, I now have bounties on me in 3 regions of Red Dead Redemption 2.

1 for breaking Micah out of jail and nearly murdering a whole town so he can get his guns back. That one is Dead or alive.

And then in another region for a series of escalating accidental shootings and one guy I just had to choke out because that was the only option the game left me (other than letting him go in which case he'd just keep trying to beat me to death). That's only 85.00.

The third one was a train robbery that started out with the intention of tipping my hat to an old lady and accidentally robbing her instead and then accidentally shooting the guy sitting next to her when I tried to also rob him. Of course this just led to to a drawn out gun battle which left me dead and the train mostly unrobbed but an old lady with serious PTSD (or as it was known then "the fireworks shakes"). And a 140.00 bounty on my head (which I understand is a lot of money for back then).

I've also been doing a bunch of hunting and bringing it back to camp to donate for provisions.

Anyway, so there's this lady you can unload your problems on, so last time she's like "What's troubling you Arthur?" So the say "Well, I've killing a lot of animals, for no reason at all, just because. And I've killed a lot of innocent people!" "Gee, Arthur, maybe you need a break!" So I went on a treasure hunt, found a big ass treasure and then robbed this old prospector after he'd just found gold. Relaxation!

After 10-15 hours of Red Dead Redemption about the only thing that entertained us was cranking up our Wanted level to a ridiculous level, settling in at a nice choke point, and having at the deputies.

As realistic a game as they tried to make it, I really don't think there were that many deputies anywhere in the Old West.

EDIT: For the last few weeks we've been playing Ghost Recon and the standard invitation is, "Hey, wanna go kill some Bolivians?"

We don't play very good people in video games.

I've found tremendous fun in just doing whatever b#%~%~* stuff every random person asks for help with (those I don't accidentally shoot in the face that is) except doing it half assed. This one lady was tied to back of this guy's horse screaming for help, so I shoot him in the head and then accidentally spooked the horse by shooting it in the ass and god knows where they ended up because I gave up chasing them after a bit and spooking the horse even more by shooting at it a few more times. I hope they make it!

I'm confused. I walk in to work, and 2nd shift says "I didn't do any laundry because the assistant manager said not to worry about it. So it isn't sorted or anything. She also said you don't need to worry about it." So I'm thinking "Cool, no laundry tonight." But then, in the 20 minutes or so while I use the bathroom, get changed, wait until it's time, and clock in, she has sorted the laundry and started a load of towels in the wash. So now I'm wondering whether or not I'm should just go ahead and do it, or at least some of it.

I'm probably going to wind up doing it. Just because.

After a long time waffling and thinking about it, I finally bit the bullet and decided to sign up for a trade school. I'm gonna study to be an Electrical Technician and have an apprenticeship once I'm out of class. The institute is pretty above board and has hundreds of great reviews so I'm pretty excited. It's probably the biggest single decision I've ever made in my life.
