The whole thing was in my car so pants weren't required.

This is America! We don't have to wear pants unless we go to Wendy's or something.

Personally, I don't even wear pants to Wendy's.

I don't know what evil I ate on Thursday, but the evil has been expelling itself highly efficiently since last night.

I feel terrible.

I guess technically you were wearing the car as your pants. Which is a pretty damn American thing to do.

Hang in there Vany

They've updated the high school schedule to allow for hybrid learning. They've shortened all the classes from 80 minutes to 60 minutes to allow for an "Academy" period in the late afternoon "to be this time to address these core needs that we’ve talked about: the social-emotional learning and the intervention."

Even remote kids have to participate.

So yes, Impus Minor is being required to attend two one-hour Zoom sessions a week to socialize with his classmates.

Stupidity has no limits.

It's been a helluva week. Both good and bad.

The good: my interviews have been going well. On Monday I'm lined up for a third, second, and first interview, as well as my second vaccine shot. Also started a dialogue with a new woman and that seems to be going well thus far.

The bad: my best friend's husband had two strokes on Wednesday. He got home from the hospital yesterday afternoon with no serious/obvious issues from it, so it could have been far worse. Plus...well...the aforementioned ugliness my body is going through.

It could have been a much worse week.

If it helps your conscience, you can send them to me. That way, since you don't have them, you obviously didn't spend any money on them.

Alas, the General says I can't ground them for playing it wrong.

Also your kids are cool.

Ahhh, that's always a great feeling. Someone came to check in, no reservation and we're sold out, and got mad AT ME BECAUSE ANOTHER HOTEL A COUPLE OF BLOCKS AWAY TOLD HER THAT WE HAD ROOMS! And no, that other hotel did not call to ask if we did. Apparently they just told her "Go to that hotel, they have plenty of rooms." And I'm the one who got yelled at for something that had nothing to do with me.

Yeah that's usually when I put on my good ol boy intimidation act. I don't have the patience for that crap anymore.

"Sorry we can't help you. We are booked. But at least we don't lie here at this hotel. I hope you have to travel a few more hours until you find an unbooked hotel, because you were rude, and karma is a b+&!%."

I know you can't say it. Service industry is rough, man. People are the worst.

I just stood there impassively for the 30 seconds or so she was ranting before she left.

Sounds like all you have to do from their is glare at her and loom a little.

If studying Shakespeare, just keep in mind that the plot of Hamlet is so convoluted that at one point the main character is kidnapped by pirates, and it isn't really even a major plot point.

Yar how dare they not make me a major plot point. I will keelhaul the lot of them!

Whew the vaccine is kicking my arse today. Should of layed out of work.

Only side effects I've had were swelling of the injection site, redness, and tenderness. It was pretty tender for a day or two, though.

I got a pretty bad head ache, a small fever, and my arm is real sore. It's definitely worse then the first one.

In yet another depressing indication that Disneyland has completely succumbed to "milk those rubes for all they're worth" wholesale capitalism:

- The first warning shot was when they started selling "premium seats" for shows. For nearly 30 years (1981-2009 or so) park admission was all-encompassing: You got all the rides, all the shows, and all the parades for free, on a first-come, first-serve basis. I think it was Fantasmic where they first started offering these, and at least I understood: I well remember having to sit on my butt on the pavement for 3+ hours just so the kids would have a place they could watch. If I could've spent $200 to get guaranteed seats, I would've. Which indicates that the seats came along well after the kids were young enough for me to fight for such things, leading my my 2009 estimate.

- The one that made us stop going was when they abandoned being about "Disney" movies and started converting huge swaths of the parks to Marvel/Star Wars. I'm neither a Marvel nor a Star Wars fan, so this didn't sit well with me, but even worse was closing down the unique restaurants or cutting back their menus in favor of far more profitable burger or pizza stands. We used to love wandering Disneyland and finding places to "graze". The Orleans Cafe was our absolute favorite, and we were heartbroken when they cut the menu to 1/4 of what it once was.

- Today's tirade brought to you by the new reservation system: Disneyland is open, but you need both tickets AND reservations. So I tried to book a trip for July. Booked the hotel room. Check. Booked the tickets. Check. Then, "Once you've paid, you'll be able to check the reservation dates to guarantee your park entry."
In other words, "First give us your money, THEN we'll tell you whether you can come.
And this is entirely intentional. I'd already put in my hotel reservation dates and the number of guests. Their system could EASILY have checked the reservation system to make sure the park had room on at least ONE of those days. Instead, it was, "Pay us first, then find out you can't come on those days."
I'm sure the follow-up would have been, "Oh, I'm sorry! There's a 10% cancellation fee," or some such.

The reason we were willing to pay Disneyland prices was for Disneyland-level customer service. Customer service is apparently extinct.

EDIT: Forgot to mention that before I entered my credit card information I opened a second browser tab and checked availability and sure enough there wasn't a single open date that corresponded with my hotel reservations. I was so aghast I even called. "Are there special reservations that open up once you've booked a hotel room?"
"No, what you're seeing is the current status. There are no openings available in July."

I started playing Cyberpunk 2077, it's not the train wreck dumpster fire on the PS 5 as the internet had led me to expect (which I expected).

I went with the Nomad (Mad Max) background (class).

It's a lot of fun so far and I'm getting used to the controls so I don't suck as bad.

There's a remote possibility that it's related to this.

Unfortunately, our spelling is too good so we have to be satisfied with this.

And Amberzombie has an extremely terse explanation as to why we're on incarnation #6 here.
