I'm not catching up on 1700 posts so let me know if I missed anything big.

I've been quite busy IRL, and I have some promising leads on jobs. I'm going to make a few posts and probably be out of touch for a while.

I got a letter from HD. If anyone wants to exchange email with him please create a throw away email account and mail it to him on a post card. He appreciates actual mail, and he says there is more info on his facebook page.

He sends his best wishes to you guys.

Jess, he says congrats on the house!

TOZ, he said to watch you six and get home safe so you guys can game some more!

Y'all take care.

BT!!! GOOD TO SEE YOU!!! Even if it is only for a drive by!!

Likewise! :)

Hello, Aeglos and Bitter Thorn!

BT, sorry I missed you last time. Hope you're feeling better.

God Treppa. This made me lol like I haven't loled in a while. Not only am I relieved to discover that I am not the only person who enjoys this, I will think of you every time I poke myself in the eye. Which is the second strangest compliment I have ever given someone.

In state for a couple of weeks then heading up a project in Utah. 90+ hours a week, but I need the work.

I know those hours come with job you do but I always worry about how alert you can stay after a few weeks of that. Stay safe.

Hey everyone good morning.

Did not buy the booze last night ...but I think I will this evening.
Plus I need to get a friend a nice bottle of scotch to share for his birthday he has had a tough week the stockmarket and all.

I have been scared to look at my 401K. Anyone else in the same boat?

+1 for Solnes birthday

If your 401K is split between some good mutual funds or such for your needs you may just be best off riding it out without stressing. Short term volatility is disconcerting, but a consistent disciplined approach tends to work out in the long run.

LOL! I would love to get another motorcycle. I haven't had one for years, and a 4x4 for hiking and hunting would rock, but we are still taking care of Diane's grand daughters and it's hard to know how long I'll be out of work between projects. I'm extremely frugal and conservative with money, but I might get myself something this winter.

It doesn't with mine, but that's probably not a bad thing.

There is some "pop art" that will stand the test of time, but not a whole hell of a lot of it will, nore does it deserve to.

Not Tolkien necessarily, but I felt Moorcock was putting on airs there explicating Tolkien et al when he himself had written a saga about an albino with a b%#*!in sword that amounts to the literary equivalent of a death metal concept album.

Black Blade

I couldn't resist.

If it's true that a rich man leads a sad life
That's what they from day to day
Then what do all the poor do with their lives?
On judgment day with nothing to say?

I've been beat up, I've been thrown
Out but I'm not down, I'm not down
I've been shown up, but I've grown up
And I'm not down, I'm not down

On my own I faced a gang of jeering in strange streets
When my nerves were pumping and I
Fought my fear in, I did not run
I was not done

I've been beat up, I've been thrown
Out but I'm not down, I'm not down
I've been shown up, but I've grown up
And I'm not down, I'm not down

And I have lived that kind of day
When one of your sorrows will go away
It goes down and down and hit the floor
Down and down and down some more
Depression

But I know there'll be some way
When I can swing everything back my way
Like skyscrapers rising up
Floor by floor, I'm not giving up

So you rock around and think that
You're the toughest
In the world, the whole wide world
But you're streets away from where
It gets the roughest
You ain't been there

I've been beat up, I've been thrown
Out but I'm not down, I'm not down
I've been shown up, but I've grown up
And I'm not down, I'm not down

yeah, I figure, I have a 30 year investment horizon. Looking at it more than quarterly will only stress me out unnecessarily at the least, or make me make unconsidered moves at the worst. And if the whole world goes batshit crazy insane and we end up living in the financial equivalent of a zombie apocalypse, that money won't matter anyway. :)

I'd slide you some Haterade(tm), but the only phone company Haterade I have is Haterade:AT&T- they screwed me out of a LOT of money during the whole switch to Cingular.

You may claim to be my king, but how'd you get that, eh? By exploiting the workers. By hanging on to outdated imperialist dogma which perpetuates the economic and social differences in our society.

And don't start with that Lady in the Lake crap! Strange women lyin' in ponds distributin' swords is no basis for a system of government. Supreme executive power derives from a mandate from the masses, not from some farcical aquatic ceremony. You can't expect to wield supreme executive power just because some watery tart threw a sword at you. After all, if I went 'round sayin' I was Emperor, just because some moistened bint lobbed a scimitar at me, they'd put me away.

But I wouldn't go peacefully, mind you. I'd be yellin and screamin tha whole time, "Come and see the violence inherent in the system. Help! Help! I'm being repressed!"

...and that, my liege, is how we know the Earth to be banana shaped.
