~winces~ Ouch! I am sorry to hear that but I am glad that it seems to be responding to treatment. I am here if you need to talk, whine, or complain. I totally understand the cancer deal. Good luck.

Aeglos, I am not on facebook and so had no idea. I am so sorry to hear of what she is fighting, but I am so glad that she is fighting and winning, and I am also glad that you are working from home and are supporting everyone. Please give her my best and let her know that I am pulling for her. She can and will beat this.

Nope. I just happen to be a fan of Jim Carey, Mike Myers, Norm McDonald, John Candy, Seth Rogen, Phil Hartman, Jay Baruchel, Dave Foley, Caroline Rhea, Will Arnett, and more of our immigrants from the north.

THIS THING!

There are lots of posts that I absolutely don't have time to respond to, and lots of people and things I want to comment on, but no matter who you are, what you've posted, or what's going on, so long as this applies: I am glad you, yeah, you, in particular, are safe.

Love you guys.

And for those of you who are not safe, or whose loved ones are not, whatever you're going through, please know that you are loved, you are cared for, and you are prayed over. God bless you - and please, we may not be able to do much, or anything, other than give vaguely sympathetic noises or words, but we're here to listen, at least.

Right now we’re watching a live action (recorded video, not animation) white teacher dude in moderately decent health with what is probably a newly gray small and well-trimmed beard with an open-buttoned shirt and plain white tee dance and rap about how there are twelve months in the year; he alternated with a mildly animated (as in cartoon; but they also didn’t give her that much movement, relatively) Hispanic girl singing a repetitive song about about “doce mesos” in the year (they name the months in English and Spanish). And, you know? Not as bad an experience as that sounds. I wonder if I’m somehow inured, if it’s actually not that bad, or if I’m just numb for now.

TRUTH.

There are so many wildlife rehabilitation centers, rescues and sanctuaries in southern Oregon. In the space of three years, Eve went from casual volunteer to the Public Relations Director of one of the bigger ones, quit after a number of ethical disagreements with the head of the organization, went to work for a nearby big cat (and other random exotic animals) sanctuary doing animal care, then quit because the woman and her husband who owned it threw a fit when she refused to let them pay her with "free housing" (in an un-converted cargo container on their property) in lieu of salary.

GothBard insisted that we watch it because all her co-workers are going crazy about it.

But I'll agree with CY: All it does is show how crazy and dislikeable all of these people are, and as I'm said, I don't like watching shows where EVERYONE is dislikeable, even if they're documentaries.

When WW's little sister got married in Vermont, her fiance decided that, instead of having a traditional stag night, he wanted his groomsmen to hike with him up a big hill (they call it a mountain but it's not) outside Burlington and stay awake all night up there the night before the wedding.

Around dawn, he answered the call of nature and realized he'd forgotten tp. He found some big soft leaves that seemed perfect. Until later on, when he felt the burning and itching. He had wiped with unusually large poison ivy.

Technically there was turning in his PE results left, but that was an abysmal failure because they went out to get ready and while chasing a lizard somehow got into a new nest of ants that had moved in since the storm a couple nights ago. I’m calling a mulligan due to the fact that my Eldest was crying about all the new burning stinging bites he got all over his ankles. We will handle that one tomorrow, though, as I poisoned the daylights outta the area, and he’s totally fine by now (a cold foot-shower helped a lot at the time and the swelling has radically gone down every hour since) and only notices the itching when someone asks about his bites. Stupid fire-ants. Ruining an otherwise perfect success! (But they won’t anymore!)

Drejk...I never received a service ticket so I'm just going to let you suffer. Besides, since it didn't just start working from Woran's presence (this really does happen - it's no different than taking your car to a mechanic for a mystery noise that suddenly COMPLETELY F+%&ING DISAPPEARS the instant the mechanic is within earshot), or driver reinstalls, then I'm guessing it really is a hardware problem and the camera - or the circuitry leading to the camera - is just shot.

Got news today that one of the two coworkers that went home a little over two weeks ago (due to concerns about COVID) just tested positive for it. (She lives in a house with two of her daughters who are medical professionals who both also got it.)

To say I'm worried is an understatement, said coworker has beaten cancer (two different types), and was experiencing lung difficulties earlier in the year.

She's a tough Muslim grandmother, who helped me break a two-decade addiction to OTC painkillers.

As an aside, you know he does the "Canada" show at Disney?

Honestly, I'm not a Martin Short fan. He's my least favorite of the Three Amigos, and I personally think Chevy Chase is overrated, and Steve Martin mediocre, so that should give you an idea of where I feel he lies...somewhere between "meh" and "how did he get famous?"

In their very first night in camp, the 13th-level party was attacked by a bhole (CR 17), a really nasty gnoll bouda with accompanying war party (CR 15), and a group a Leng ghouls (CR 13).

If anything was ever going to encourage them to skip being on the ground entirely and fly, that night was it.

I think the hardest part of parenting so far is not turning into one of those people who have no life whatsoever outside of their child. I don't know the male equivalent, but I've heard of them called "Mombies" for women. You know the type - no matter what you're talking about, it has to come back to their kids, even if the audience clearly doesn't care about the subject, or if it has absolutely nothing to do with the current narrative?

You could be talking about the weather in a fantasy world that is populated entirely by elderly squirrels, and they'll be the type to spit out "you know who likes elderly squirrels? my kid...he did this cute thing the other day" and then you facepalm and cry because your friend suddenly has no personality beyond their spawn.

Oxytocin is a hell of a chemical, yo. That s@++ is hard not to fall into.
