Hello FAWTLies, hello people I haven't seen in this thread before. Welcome.

Welcome to the thread Rev. It was great meeting you and chatting. To Mairkurion, yes I'll start working on a post con report Monday. The con was just too full of gaming goodness to find time to write.

My father was a professor of cybernetics. Does that count?

I've been trying to put together "Rev" and "software developer."

** spoiler omitted **

None of the above. The software developer thing is left over from last year when my entire DM profile got eaten and Gary tried to fix it. He did, but in doing so ate my personal profile and I've never got around to denying that I'm not a software developer in any way shape or form. I'm a peripatetic drama teacher, which isn't nearly as employable.

EDIT: Tordek - it was wonderful meeting you and your family. We should both do post con reports as Gen Con virgins.

Well of course not. It's the midichlorians.... ;)

Edit:
Oh, wait, this must be what the PMG meant the other day by: 'This is going to be pretty popular'. The only trees he was talking about were figurative family ones, not decoratable office ones...
Well, on this occasion, I would have to concur, it indeed probably is going to be pretty popular. Though I'm not sure what Sara Marie and the PMG are going to do with all the weird baby gifts fans are going to flood the office with...

This is awesome news. I think Jude, Charlie, and Gary and Sara Marie's baby should break out the Beginner's Box at PaizoCon 2022.

For CrimJ:

There are two different thoughts to me on this.

So to explain it properly I will use magic swords.
in case no one cares:

Magic swords generally are made slowly with utmost precision and care lest unfortunate side effects filter into the magics. These can cause simple things such as slight changes in the personalities of the users to physical changes to their appearances. The process of magic, permanent magic requires a sacrifice of some sort. Say a bird or other small animal. This is the normal way to do a magic sword or other weapon. more powerful magics require a greater sacrifice and those of ancient variety are said to have been enchanted through the sacrifice of a great dragon or other monster of myth.

Then came the time of tragedy. When the great realm fell. A time of great magics and low. A infestation of undead or creatures only able to be defended by magic. So some cleaver wizards found a way to be expedient. Quick and dirty these weapons were mass forged. They all look the same. Most were forged with the lives of rats or farm animals. What ever could be spared. All of these weapons have some sort of quirk or disadvantage to them. Few if any are very powerful and telling between them is hard even for a master smith. You never know what these weapons will do to you or cause you to become.

Plus things like themed rods of wonder. Say one that does all cold or winter magic.

My thoughts in response:
1. I like the idea of "utmost caution and care." To make them more unique, you could have screwing up htere bring the unfortunate side effects, but in addition think of ways for them to ALWAYS have some side effects, but of a benign nature.
2. Those side effects could come from environment, characteristics of the magic-user (as if s/he is magically imprinted on the item, materials used, purpose, etc)
3. RE materials, I like the idea of sacrifices. Should those be only for Holy/Unholy items? The more rationalization and symbolism, the better.
4. I'd want to keep sacrifices sacrifices. You'd have to have a lot of context in place to explain how a rat would be a sacrifice. Which would probably bring up even more strongly the question of who/what the device would function for.

Well, either this is a masterly wind-up, which will shortly result in large amounts of smackdown being laid out, good and proper, or this is cause for some interest.

Whilst (being a journalist of a demonic turn) being 'damned' isn't a problem with the whole 'publish and be...' thing, I am a little cautious to putting out a 'hatches/matches/dispatches' thread specifically for this one item of news. Ascertaining first the proper etiquette when PMGs are involved is tricky but important.
In non-diplomatic language, do you want to keep a lid on this particular news for now, PMG & Sara Marie, or would you not mind deranged posters zipping around posting threads with the word 'Congratulations' and a large number of quotation marks regarding this topic?

Gary & Sara Marie are having a baby?

CONGRATULATIONS!

Now, I assume Mairkurion will be his middle name. (Or Mairkuria, if the baby is a girl.)

Spoiler:

1.I was thinking a small chart, with things such as eyes glow, or hair turns white and such. Benign but noticeable.
2.Environment, sword was forged near the great spring of Allune and as such makes the user want to take long baths ect.. Or it was fused with the life force of a bear and the user becomes aggressive. or likes to sleep in the winter months.
3. Maybe, however I really wanted a deeper symbolic edge with the magic items and make players respect those items they have. if only in a simplistic way.
4. The idea is "life force" being needed to fuel magic.

Hey, could I leave a standing request that if I ever, EVER, get even an INKLING that I could enter into a socio-political thread on this board and have a rational, mature conversation without someone cheapening the discussion with snide and condescending remarks just grab me by my vitual shirt collar, yell, "Wake-up, man!" very loudly in my face, then slap me.

Thanks. That'll be all. :)

While I feel it is possible to have a mature conversation on these subjects. Even with people who vehemently disagree with you. Those who seem only to wish to argue are becoming more and more prevalent.

I would be glad to shout "wake-up, man!" feel free to do the same.
