Tubwe the Halfling, Miss Kier the Elf and Erol the Rogue successfully completed the Labyrinth of Randomook the Orc Brute, i.e. ALL (DE)'s daughter, ALL (DE) and I all had a good time playing 'Four Against Darkness'. Getting the little lass to quiet down and go to bed is proving to be a pretty drawn-out affair...

My group started Rise of the Runelords for PF1 just before Thanksgiving, and holiday schedules being what they are, just finished our fourth game yesterday.

I'm playing a CG kobold rogue raised by a dwarf cleric of the drunken god, who has craft alchemy and profession brewer. Our party is a traveling tavern of Caydenites with a food truck style wagon that acts as a bar. I'm the brewer. The paladin/swashbuckler is our bartender and has max perform juggling, our bouncer is an ex gladiator human brawler, our boss is a warpriest, and our driver and animal tender is a half elf shifter.

We are all escaped slaves, and my kobold swears he is just a really ugly dwarf...he wears a s#@~ty fake beard but has max disguise and bluff so he pulls it off when he actually tries.

That. Is. Awesome.

Oooh... I may be out for blood.

I just received an email from the music fund thanking me for my $449 donation.

That's nice... except I donated $2000!

If you're going to skim a little off the top, 75% of the total donation is pretty d**ned stupid.

They have 3 days, then I'm lawyering up.

EDIT: My bad. I went to the donation site and it said the donation is still in progress. So I searched the dates in the email and it turns out that I *did* give them $449 in May of 2019.

That's the problem with being old and charitable. You get confused...

So, if you like Spider-Man and love Grand Theft Auto, you'll love Marvel's Spider-Man on the PS 4.

As I told the General "You pull people out of car trunks instead of putting them inside car trunks".

Definitely one of the best videogames I've played in a while.

Almost makes up for how boring Red Dead Redemption 2 is. Almost.

I absolutely love Cells At Work.

I wonder if that is what it really is like inside all of us, with Naive T cells going through boot camp, child red blood cells going to Bone Marrow Elementary School to learn how to carry packages(they are kind of air-headed...), White Blood Cells running around the body doing patrols, ABSOLUTELY ADORABLE platelets doing construction every time the body is abraised, and various germs, bacteria, parasites, and viruses invading the body and monologuing like super villains when they attack us.

Learning about the different cell types in the body and their very specific jobs is fun. I also like that regular cells in the body look just like us, but they wear a plain white shirt that says "cell" on it.

I think I liked Cells at Work more than anyone else. We were cheerfully watching it, and everyone else said, "Let's do something else.'

Sometimes the local news is hilarious. A guy basically doing Impus Major's commute (to and from Concord via 4 one way and 24 the other) got pulled over twice, both for doing 85 in a 65 zone. He signed the tickets with a bunch of obscenities.

Yeah, that can't possibly go wrong, can it?

Why did Mozart hate chickens? Because when you ask them who their favorite classical composer is, they all say "Bach, Bach, Bach."

is this a jurisdiction that automatically makes it 20 mph over the speed limit no matter how fast you were going? I have encountered that before.

I'll admit, I've had a remarkably small number of speeding tickets in my lifetime, but between me and my friends we've never had a cop try to increase the speed. They'll frequently drop it to the next bracket down to lower the fine (for example, if you're doing 81 they'll drop it to 79 so you're less than 15 mph over), but I've never seen a cop in California try to raise it by even a single mph.

Of course, not to be excessively political, but everyone in this category is white or Asian, and the police do not have a good record with other minorities in this state.

I'm actually clearing driveways so rich lazy people can do rich lazy people things, but I appreciate the sentiment.

The important thing is I'm getting paid pretty good for it (25 an hour).

actually this has nothing to do with race and everything to do with local law. Some places automatically list your speeding at a certain rate, even if you were not doing that speed, in order to be able to legally give you a ticket for speeding. Other places(this is my experience) are ready to give you a ticket for speeding thr instant you enter their jurisdiction and say you were going the speed limit for the highway you were exiting.

Yeah, we're California, where there are 3 lawyers lurking in the bushes for every citizen. I guarantee you'll never get ticketed for faster than you were going here. I can't believe some jurisdictions even think that's a "thing". I'm sure you can justify it legally ("All speeds from 26-35 mph receive a fine of xxx, all speeds of 36-45 mph receive a fine of yyy, etc."), but here in California it's a sliding fine; the fine for doing 69 is higher than the fine for doing 68. So trying to raise the speed would raise all kinds of constitutional issues.

And yes, I chose that speed just for you, Freehold.

EDIT: And offramp speeding tickets are B.S. no matter where you are. Fortunately, with traffic in California so bad, the idea of forcing cars to slow to 35 mph BEFORE exiting is anathema to both the populace and the cops, so we don't get those.

Hermione is at an overnight sleepover, and WW works Saturday nights, so Teensy Valeros and I are having a Mom-and-son date night. I'm taking him to the nickel arcade (100 game tokens for five bucks!), then I have a gift certificate for a fancy pie shop that I've been saving, good for two slices, and then we're planning on eating frozen Trader Joe's pastry pups and pickle-flavored potato chips (I told him he could choose anything he wanted for dinner, that's what he picked) and playing Scrabble and Sequence.

I love that, two months shy of seven, he still looks forward to planning a just-the-two-of-us evening.

You ever have one of those moments when you've trying to get your kid interested in one of your favorite games, so you help them on their turns to show them the theory and how to maximize their play, all the while pulling your punches on your own turn, and they end up deciding you're completely hopeless at this thing you love, this thing you've been waiting for them to be old enough to understand?
My son quit our Scrabble game because "It's too easy to beat you, Mama."
