The nice thing about being a senior member for a professional company that cares about safety is I get to go to off-season safety conferences.

I have two already I have to go to this month, one for digger's hotline and the other for trenches, or trench warfare, I'm not a hundred percent sure on which.

If they give you a spiky club, a push dagger, some cold stew and a foot disease, you'll know it's the former. Either that, or you're in Arkansas.

EDIT:

That is my ark.

An' that is my as.

Its when they found those skulls with holes drilled in them. Some of them multiple holes, healed over. And wondered about it.

I'm just guessing those people just suffered from migraines. Because when its real bad, someone offering to drill a hole in my skull sounds mighty tempting. It might just work.

Not being overly enthusiastic about Age of Ashes and being frustrated in trying to make a character without character sheets I'd decided to wait for the APG before giving 2nd edition Pathfinder a serious try.

Then my brothers made fun of it all party long and I happened to find character sheet pack on sale.

So guess what we're doing this week.

We're starting fall of plaguestone.

Ive made a cleric.

Today Teensy Valeros had to go to the dentist to get a filling.
Also today, as we were putting the kids to bed, WW found an empty bag of chocolate-coconut cookies hidden inside Val's pillowcase. (The cookies had been in his Christmas stocking.)
Gee, I wonder if this is indicative of some kind of pattern?

Yes. Tiny fairies are eating his cookies while he sleeps, then drilling holes into his teeth to use as nesting spots.

I went to the doctor today about this chronic pain I've been experiencing.
Doctor: "On a scale of 1 to 10, how bad is it?"
Me: "π."
Doctor: "Pi?"
Me: "Low, but it never ends."

The best part about stuff like this...the time it takes the light from Betelgeuse to get to us means this already happened a long, long time ago. We're just now seeing the effects.

So it's Friday afternoons like this that I absolutely loathe. I have no "real" work; the courses I'm updating right now aren't due for handoff until at least late March, and I really should be waiting for the totally-revamped templates we're supposed to use.

But, I "forgot" to take the week off, and didn't know everyone else was, so I'm sitting around with ONE co-worker, doing nothing of any importance, and waiting for 4:00 pm to roll around.

Which is really stupid because at the moment I'm my own manager and I could let myself leave early, since I've got nothing remotely important to do.

But... I managed to get raised with a Puritan work ethic in spite of myself, so since I can find work to do, I do that work, even if it's remarkably unimportant.

And in entertainment news...

We don't see Hi all that often any more, except when we go to Rivoli. He's started taking delight in grabbing the bill away from Shiro, both because he can and because of how indignant Shiro gets about it. He's managed to do it twice in a row now.

So he confessed to me over New Year's that his plan for tonight is to get Shiro so drunk that he can snatch the bill an unprecedented third time in a row.

And yeah, I'm not going to breathe a word of it to Shiro. Because the longer Hi keeps up the streak, the more determined Shiro will be to beat him, the more free dinners GothBard and I rack up because those two are so determined to outdo each other.

Am I a bad man?

As long as I at least pretend to reach for my wallet, I don't think so...

OK. I have no idea whether it's this generation of teachers, or whether I just live in a ****ed-up area.

Impus Minor's English teacher assigned him a major essay over break, due during the break.

So he can't go to his friend's house to game tonight, DURING CHRISTMAS BREAK, because he's working on an essay that was assigned on the last day of class before break.

If he doesn't finish and she tries to mark it late when he turns it in on Monday, the school board's going to hear about this. Big time.

Is that a hint?

Should I warn him of Hi's plot?

Maybe that would to extended escalation between them so you wouldn't have to reach for your wallet at all?
