I have no opinions on gender locked races because I have never played any games with gender locked races before. I don't even know how I feel about it so I don't think I have anything to say on that subject.

Cancer sucks. You've earned the right to whine. Sharing the burden can help you feel better and the FAWTL collective probably has people who can give nutrition advice on the food portion of helping with recovery.

~sighs~ Ok.

Background first.

Spoiler:
Mom has been battling Breast Cancer for around 12 years now. She is on her fifth bout of Breast Cancer. It went in this order. Breast, Breast, Breast, then right lung, the to the right side of her brain for her fifth bout. There were two tumors in her brain. One in her frontal cortex and the other in the motor area, sort of. We found out about the brain tumors due to her having three seizure in five days. Sadly, due to the blood / brain barrier, chemotherapy does not work very well on the brain so we had to do radiation. The have been using the Cyberknife radiation treatment for the last two bouts of cancer. The tumor in the frontal cortex is gone as of now.

Latest fun part.

Spoiler:
Sadly, the other tumor in her brain is not being affected by the radiation treatment. In fact it has caused the center of the tumor to act weird and "mutate" a bit. I am oversimplifying things and not explaining it very well since I am not 100% clear on what is happening, but the long and the short is that radiation therapy is now out for this tumor. So now they are going to do the Visualase® MRI-guided Laser Ablation for Minimally Invasive Neurosurgery. What that does is they cut a small hole in her head, thread a fiber optic through her brain, and use a laser to try and "burn" it out. Like I said, oversimplification.

Of course...

Spoiler:
Mom never had the time to recover from her fourth bout of cancer that was in her lung and there were complications as well. At this point her breathing is is (IMHO) at the 60 to 70% range from what it was pre-cancer in the lung. Plus, mom can't drive anymore due to the tumor in her brain and she is getting weaker by the week due to being on chemotherapy ever other week, on average. I work nights, so I tend to sleep during the days. But Mom can't drive, so that means I need to step up, so I am over there almost every day and for every doctor appointment. So me getting 2, 3, or 4 hours sleep on average has sucked big time. I have always had a real hard time sleeping during the day.

Edit - I also feel like I am not the greatest caretaker. I am doing my best, but I feel like I am at my limit right now. I have the sneaking suspicion that Mom is going to need even more help sooner than later. yay?

Like I said, sorry for the whining.

Sharoth:

Try to take things one step at a time and look on the life - at least the frontal lobe tumour is gone. Just need to deal with the back lobe. And sleep deprivation will make anyone testy. Are there any other siblings or relatives who can share in caretaking because being a single caretaker is hard? Or any trained nurses you can employ? Does insurance provide for house support?

I don't know any herbs that can compress sleep so to speak but that might help too.

This thing. Been there. Cancer is the worst. It is a demon that kills, steals, and corrupts. It is insidious, because it always takes enough to cause doubt, jealousy, fear, frustration, exhaustion, and so on - either in your particular story or the story of others (the added unfairness just making things worse). Not whining. Not even close. Venting is a thing you are allowed to do here. Please feel free.

Ugh. Don't listen to any doctor who says it's "just a minor procedure" and that she "won't even notice".

GothBard was in significant pain for 2-3 weeks after the procedure, and is still dealing with significant dietary issues.

So yes, the symptoms slowly alleviate and according to the surprising number of friends who have had it done, within 2-3 years your body adjusts and everything returns to normal.

But the doctors pretend you'll go home and not even notice. It's a gross disservice.

Just follow the dietary guidelines strictly and she'll be fine. Otherwise it can be difficult.

Yeah, my dad had that too. He strangely could not stomach coffee for several years after the procedure.

My outlook was crashing a lot and I was told my IT department to move some folders to other places to make it more stable, and moving those folders locked up my outlook for hours. I tried to do other things, but it seemed to make my outlook threaten to crash, so I stopped.

I guess I asked for that one since my mailbox was 50GB in size before I started some emergency archiving.

Anyway in the name of scientific research - after two DIY strength training sessions:

Chest pressing wasn't any easier.
Squats were easier.
Push-ups were easier.
Clean and press was a lot easier as were the power presses at my normal barbell weight(5 kg per side).

I know I can deadlift 15 kg without too many issues but clean and press and power press on that might be tricky especially for multiple reps.

You're not whining Sharoth.

You dealing with a severely ill mother, having to scamper around to make her life easier (Gods know she need it when she's battling through 5 bouts of cancer and a couple of brain tumors!) and keeping your own life in order on the side.
You're feeling worry, stress and even some inadequacies in being there for your mother.
You've more then earned the right to voice your worries without without even have to worry even further about having your voiced concerns construed as 'whining'.

Even than I'm not sure why it's that big a deal, they introduced one female beast race and one male, so....

Edit: I'm still waiting for a 40k mmorpg, though I suppose people will be outraged that Space Marines are only male, sigh.

Yea, I've got mixed feelings about gender sex-locking races in most media. I guess I'm both fore and against depending on how and why it's done...

A fellow 40ker I see…
So no female space marines for you then? ^^

Go back far enough and female Space Marines are canonical but I don't mind the current boys only Astartes club. Mostly they're about martial honor and expressing different shades of anger while lacking certain fundamental human traits like fear and sexuality. The Emperor designed them to be disposable shock troops that he was gonna destroy Ala the Thunder Warriors after conquering the galaxy.

So, post-humans evolved beyond humanity yet lesser for it as well who live a life of nonstop violence without the solace of family or basic humanity? I'm fine with that being an all boys club, they can keep it. =)

Funnily that pretty much my take on it too.

Truth be told though, I don't really feel that strongly about the sexes of space marines (frankly I have a bigger problem with Primaris Marines - or space marine space marines as I call them), with the only rewriting/retconning/erasing the huge backlog of present lore being an actual problem. I suspect that for me at least its more a thing about space marines not really being my primary flavour thing about 40k (that goes the larger 'human' Imperium), but all that said I only have very few problems with the way the setting as a whole handles the sexes in the far off war torn future - even when they crate sex-locked groups and factions (Yes there are cliches and tropes amongst them, but really I don't mind that much).

So my current Girlfriend and I are talking about getting married, but honestly my last marriage was such a clusterf~@$ I am wary of tying the knot again until I've got a bunch of things worked out and I'm sure it can be a forever thing.

With my ex-wife the relationship and/or love wasn't the problem(we are still friends now) it's that she liked to spend money we simply didn't have until we were financially drowning and couldn't survive together basically.

This time I'm gonna make sure it's not just for love but all the 'little details' are in place too before I risk it.

Edit: And yes she knows there are fifty states in the united states now dammit >_<

Well 2 boxes of 4 kiwis(my favourite fruit) costs 8.95(when on discount), and I eat 2 kiwis per day so that adds up to quite a bit >.<

I've been working on it for the last 5 months! It's lots of work but also rewarding in its own fashion. I dropped from 57 kg to around 51 kg(or actually 50.8 kg).

I think everyone should try to incorporate some exercise in their lives. Though if you really want to lose weight you should do a mix of cardio and weight training.

Weight training helps you lose weight and also adds on muscle so you don't have to stick to such drastic calorie reductions just not to get fat. Also it's useful when you need to haul stuff around.

My colleagues were saying I look too skinny. Do I? Was planning on muscling up a bit for aesthetic reasons. And also trying to chase that elusive pull up =P

All the talk of Wrath reminds me of when I put a call out to all my brothers for a Skull & Shackles campaign. I specifically said it was a pirate campaign with a significant amount of time pirating at sea. No paladins!.

Yup, out of 6 people I got three paladins and a cavalier, all focusing on heavy armor, and then were shocked when they were immediately thrown on a ship conducting piracy.

In case you couldn't tell, my brothers don't listen to me.

It's amazing/depressing how one clueless kid can so utterly compromise your online identity.

GothBard was horrified when she Googled herself and found her name, birthday, age, and other personal information on the execrable site http://www.mylife.com, which should really be named stealmyidentity.com.

Since she NEVER shares personal information like that, I checked for myself, and found the culprit: It had my parents' address (where I lived from 2008-2013), my real name, birthday, income, etc. But most importantly, among my "friends and associates" it listed my immediate family members... and my neighbor's then-teenage daughter.

So it's pretty obvious SHE put in all our information to one of her social media sites and a bot scooped it up and now all our personal information is available for all the world to see.

Thanks, dingbat!

It's SO bothersome that one clueless person can so compromise your identity. Just teaches us never to tell ANYONE any real information about ourselves. *SIGH*.
