It's La Crosse, Lacrosse is a sport only rich white people play. It involves...like a stick or something?
Sorry wasn't trying to be rude it was just a sweet setup for a joke about lacrosse. Haha obscure.

Because the kind of people who play lacrosse are usually kinda stuck up?

There. I'm helping.

More because I've honestly never known a black person that plays lacrosse, though I'm sure some exist somewhere, also if you can afford the equipment for your kids you are rich in my book =p

we have several in my neighborhood.

Also LM - have you baked with whole wheat flour before? If you have, what is it like?

It's slower to rise in anything baked with yeast. I typically use 1/3 whole wheat to 2/3 bread flour or all-purpose flour, depending on what I'm making. Avoid "white whole wheat", it doesn't have the flavor and it's rather pointless.

But you should be asking Captain Yesterday, not me. He's the pastry chef. I'm just a cook.

I don't bake with whole wheat flour unless I'm getting paid to, and I haven't been a professional baker for 16 years, so no idea.

Personally, I use unbleached all purpose flour for my baking.

Expected. Since all purpose flour is more versatile and can be used for both cakes and breads, and basically, anything.

Also about fried chicken, I can't take anything with too much batter these days(like kentucky fried chicken). I'll feel awful after since my system can't take that much oil after being accustomed to stir fried and steamed foods.

Pretty sure nobody thought you were actually being serious. But, you know, if you're going to be racist against a particular group, us white guys have earned it.

I actually did upset someone, which is not a joke. Most folks probably realized I was joking though, so that's why my apology, while sincere, is jokingly worded like a politician's apology. Also the fried chicken thing at the end...

For more insight into my twisted psyche I like to say I'm racist occasionally then mix up racist ideas for several different races for maximum nonsense. No one finds this funny...except for me, I find it very funny!

3 people marked this as a favorite.

I know why I find it funny too, it's just that racism is so utterly ridiculous that if it weren't for its destructive and vile history it would be the most ludicrous thing in the world.

Even when I was being "racist" the second two things I said about white people is that they had giant dicks and loved fried chicken, two racist ideas traditionally slung against blacks but they make as much sense applied to white people.

I'll be more careful from now on because I caused upset feelings but yeah...

Urg.

So, I was mildly sick over the weekend -- felt it a little on Friday, worse on Saturday, and pretty bad on Sunday. So, since I was *way* behind on paperwork and other household chores I took yesterday off as a sick day. My temperature was "only" 99.4° F, but that's pretty high for me, and considering it took me 3.5 hours to catch up, plus meeting the solar guys and the guy fixing my front door sill, it was a good choice.

Unfortunately, my body said, "All RIGHT! Are we being sick now? Let's GO!!!!"

Woke up at 5:45 am this morning already over 100.0° F. Feel like death warmed over, or at least like someone sandblasted my lungs and throat.

Stupid body, I wanted ONE day off!

Anyway, back to bed with lots of fluids. I'll beat this bugger; just irritated I'm missing a second day of work over it...

I've mentioned it before, but my favorite "racist" moment was when we were leaving Disneyland one night and one of those incessant survey-takers was scanning the crowd and approached me to take one of their surveys. GothBard immediately piped up with, "Yeah! Interview the old white guy! Perpetuate the system!"

The surveyor was SO horrified and apologetic that I honestly felt bad for her.

Oh, talking of games. I finally beat the fourth floor in Slay the Spire with all characters (& am up to Ascension 8 in all of them - I might not try further, it's a bit frustrating). So I decided to restart 'Guild of Dungeoneering', which is a similar fun game - but with easier card battles (although can get annoying with # of losses).

Does d1ck size have anything to do with body size? I should think so since if you're bigger you should have a bigger one, right?

Also one thing more is I haven't been on FAWTL that long, so this is the first time I met Yuu, so I don't know her that well. Add that with the type of nature that takes things literally...well.

Get well soon, NH.

Monday I was having a bit of a running nose but it seems to have evolved into an itchy throat which I'm currently having. Hopefully more water and sleep fixes it.

Still trying to slay the spire on act 4 with silent...lol. At ascension difficulty 1. Not that I have much time for htat though.

Yeah, StS is super tricky. I think for silent you might need multiple After-Image cards, Caltrops/bronze scales, blurs. I think I also had the relic that creates new cards from exhausted ones.

And well done with all the prep & exercise, truly an organised cat.

The stone seminar was just a meet and greet to sell us on their stone.

I am shocked, shocked I say.

Sadly, I did not win the faux wood fire pit door prize.

They had barbeque though, which was dry and swimming in pepper.

The cookies were alright though.

Or the distance between your elbows, as close as you can bring them together.

All I know is, the one time in my life that I went to a nudist resort for the day, my primary goal was to find a place where I could legally and safely sunbathe nude. (And, I figured, a little unofficial "research" from behind the safety of oversized sunglasses while I was tanning... that would be okay, too.)

Turned out that the reason they advertised "first visit FREE!" on their website was so they could give you the massive advertising pitch about buying into their cabin-condo association, because it was actually a NUDIST RETIREMENT COMMUNITY. Everyone there was in their late sixties or seventies, and I had no desire to look anywhere.

So I learned nothing and never went back.

In other news, I had my monthly meeting with the school director today, and when she asked (not for the first time) where we were with getting Teensy Valeros tested and evaluated for ADHD, I was straight up with her and said, "Look, we really want to get him tested, we agree that it needs to be done, but we have to pay a grand upfront and then wait between 30-60 days for the school's benefit claims administrator to reimburse it, and we just can't afford it right now."

So she offered to have the school pay the money upfront, then I submit the receipt to the claims administrator, and when the claim gets paid, I repay the school through a payroll deduction. So I'm never actually out-of-pocket, and Val gets his testing.

And if you think I didn't break down and cry in her office when she made the offer, then you don't know me.

What do you call it when, as policy tends to get more and more inconvenient with each iteration, you go from thinking that policy is mostly for the best and at least tolerable to "Forget this noise, I'm sticking with an older iteration" to "Whelp if I'm going to get fired for sticking to older policy, I may as well save myself the hassle and get fired for ignoring policy altogether!"

Yeah, I have that.

Spoilered for wall o' text:

Spoiler:
So whenever I work on electrical equipment, company policy dictates that I wear some degree of personal protective equipment (PPE). PPE ranges from "Throw on your safety glasses and a long sleeve shirt" for small relatively safe equipment to "Get into this extra-heavy HAZMAT suit and never mind the 120-degree heat" for large dangerous stuff.

When my plant was commissioned, way back before I even worked here, the company had arc flash studies done to determine what PPE we would have to wear to work on which equipment to be safe. But by the time I was hired, various high-ups had decided that about half of those studies were invalid, and just last week some other high-up decided that none of them can be trusted. Which means that we must resort to the NFPA 70E.

The NFPA 70E is an industry standard published by a private company, and plants without arc flash studies use it to determine appropriate PPE. Of course, the NFPA assumes absolute worst-case scenarios, so 'appropriate' PPE is always on the heavier side. At least in the prior edition, there were several determinations per equipment category, so if you were just operating an external breaker you could get away with lighter PPE than if you were exposing yourself to live conductors. But NOOOOOOOO, that was too convenient.

The latest edition has one determination per equipment type, and it assumes that you're cross-fit-ing with live electrical conductors. As such, it's also completely eliminated the lowest safety-glasses-and-long-sleeves category of PPE, so now by company policy every time I work on anything I'm supposed to wear at least beekeeper-level gear.

And it doesn't help that I have the math skillz to do an arc flash study on our equipment myself. Which I have. I mean I get it, companies doing their own safety-related studies internally is a recipe for disaster, let alone I'm not an expert. So my study will never ever be recognized, and that's the way it should be. Safety studies should be done externally by independent contractors; I just want it done!
