I love most of the designs except for the spiky anime hair on Nori, Balin's hair and beard and Kili is just silly. Who knew most of them would wield swords and not axes!
Well in the Hobbit, on the initial descriptions all it says are things like Kili He had a blue cloak and a yellow beard. Yet in the combat scenes Swords are almost always mentioned. If any weapons are at all. Some things do not even come out at all, like the fact that Kili and Fili are really young. You only find those sorts of things out by the appendices in LotR. Or that a full 1/2 of the Dwarves are Cousins.

I mean Kili is silly because they are clearly going for the Orlando Bloom factor with that acor/character. He looks like an elf.

And I don't remember swords in the book, beyond Orcrist that is. I remember they hunted with bows in Mirkwood but I don't remember any other weapons mentioned at all. I like the different weapons for the most part, especially that hammer/pick and the TWF Dwarven machetes!

Well they also seem to be going the "war" route as well. Since they have an actor cast as Azog for the battle at the gates of Moria, that though written by Tolkien as a lead up doesn't happen in the Hobbit.

Congrats on your move + trip, CH, and hope you, Treppa, and SP all have a great meetup tonight.

Indeed, that is cool. When I win the lottery, I'm taking a month off to visit everyone.

Nah... When I win it, I'm just sending everyone tickets to Ireland and we can all meet up there.

Am I missing anything in Fawtly land?

Is Google+ worth foolin' with?

So sad about Borders. This offer to go to Ireland is somewhat cheering, however!

I think my passport expires soon, I better renew it for this Ireland trip. Thanks Ashe ;-P

Yeah you can limit your posting to specific groups. However they still have kinks to work out on it.

It's always wonderful to hear of FAWLTlies meeting up and having a good time. In the non-Urizen sense, that is.

The official answer is that the credit union isn't busy enough. Mortgage rates at 4.5% with a 30 year fixed rate isn't all that great if you don't have a job.

From my point of view -- they really needed to save money and I was one of the higher paid employees there.

Of course, if they think that they are really saving all that much money by getting rid of one of the people who makes everything right...

Well, good luck to them...

Sympathies.

I find that, in today's business world, companies don't care much about doing the job right. Scary when financial institutions act that way.

I left a bank in '95, as they were outsourcing our jobs. They regretted that choice from what I heard, but they were never able to re-establish. And I bet the financial gurus wouldn't let them.

Good luck to you. Hopes for a quick job find.

Add my voice. My main hope, KINDA, is that my boss seems to be thinking about leaving and I would be the likely replacement. But she sure gets put thru the meat grinder. <insert Uri joke here to lighten the mood>

This may lighten the mood a bit, at least for those of us interested in real estate. Any lawyers aroundabouts that can give good odds on whether or not he'll be able to keep the home?

Good Morning, how is everyone this fine day? The AC is broken at work, to the point that there is water (or some liquid) leaking through the ceiling tiles in the hallway (I guess the roof could be leaking as well). Of course we are on our way to a high of 93 with 70%+ humidity today as well. On the plus side Jude continues to be a lot of fun. Although I think he is hitting another growth spurt and he has 2 more teeth coming in, for a total of 8 now.

Actually, I didn't until your post here, which got me to look back.

Breyers is okay. But for fair comparison you have to look at other region's local brands.

In West Michigan, people feel about Hudsonville Ice Cream the way Texans feel about Blue Bell. They're both excellent ice creams.

Afternoon folks. Sorry about the layoff Moff, been there, done that. Glad CH and partner made it to St Louie and met Treppa and the Puffin. Been a long week, and it ain't even Wotan's Day yet. I will say I've seen more beach in the last few weeks than I had in the last ten years. That's kinda sad. Well, off to finish up my tri sets and go the Hell home
