It's not a fight, I said what I said and that's it.

I'm certainly not going to antagonize anyone further.

Nor do I expect anyone to follow suit.

If you don't like it, flag it.

Born in '88, couldn't tell you when I graduated, I can't remember. Secondary school (what we call high school) or college. I guess they didn't make enough of an impression. :P

Pittsburgh had several inches of snow, last night. Which makes going to work at 3:00 AM a bit less pleasant.

Recruited two more people in work in Pokémon Go, so we're up to 5 now. Hoping to take on some 4* raids soon, maybe even a five, once the newer members have levelled up a bit. :)

I've been floored with the flu for the past week, just recovering now. Work had plenty waiting for me when I returned this morning, which was a delight, as always. :P

I had even got the flu jab, but managed to pick up one of the strains not covered by it. Typical of my luck, honestly. :)

Yeah, that blows. Do the pharmacies there sell Theraflu? I find that it works well for me. Especially when added to hot tea.

Can't say I've ever heard of it, but that doesn't mean it's not. It might be under a different brand. What's the main ingredient?

What I find often is that, over-the-counter drugs in the states are prescription drugs here. Which always makes me curious about what the processes to decide which things are otc and which aren't, and why different processes give different results in different countries.

Possibly Political?:

It's still pretty popular. Not as explosively popular as it was when it launched, and I wonder, if they had all the stuff they have now, at launch, would it have last longer? I spend too much time wondering, methinks. :P

Anyways, yes, still somewhat popular. I got a crew of 5 at work, my two flatmates play, a few other FaWtLers do as well. Even my ex plays, and joins me for raids in town, on occasion. She set up my little man with an account too, something for us to do as a family still.

Ah-ha! Paracetamol, as it is known here, is an easily available otc drug. I was taking Lemsip, which contains 500mg or 1,000mg, depending on which strength version you take. I was taking the 1,000mg one, because I was really taken down by it. It's definitely good stuff alright.

The other two appear to be an antihistamine and a decongestant, respectively. Diphenhydramine is used in Benadryl, which is a cough syrup I often take when my throat is at me, though didn't go for this time. I'm not sure what Irish drugs Phenylephrine would be found in.

Responding, "No <manure>, Sherlock! What the <copulation> are you doing running Outlook on your iPhone?" is apparently not good for customer relations, even if it's good for the soul...

While all our scheduled events aren't lined up, we at least know which cities we'll be in on which dates, in case any of the Western European FaWtLers want to meet up with us for an afternoon of tourism or dinner or some such. (And yes, Lord Synos gets the biggest gripe because we're in the U.K. for 9 days and don't make it to Ireland, and Drejk can go ahead and grouch that we don't even make eastern Germany, much less Poland):

Itinerary:

July 9-11: London, England
July 12-13: Edinburgh, Scotland
July 14: Inverness, Scotland
July 15-16: Inverary, Scotland?
July 17: Edinburgh, Scotland
July 18-20: Paris, France
July 21-22: Amsterdam, the Netherlands
July 23-25: Copenhagen, Denmark

So yeah, it's pretty much a whirlwind tour where we wanted the kids and Shiro to see London and Scotland, then GothBard loves Paris (I could skip it), we've never actually stopped in Amsterdam, and GothBard has a former co-worker just outside of Copenhagen.

Should be exhausting, if nothing else!

As TOZ said, people like "pretty things", so most corporate email these days includes a ton of HTML to make it look nice.

Trouble is, the native Mail client on iPhones and iPads already integrates with Outlook Exchange servers, so this really is just a case of users saying, "I don't want to use something that WORKS!!! I want to use a cobbled-together piece of crapware Microsoft threw over the wall at Apple just to pretend they don't still hate each other. Because I use Outlook on my Windows machine, and I need it to look EXACTLY THE SAME!!!"

If you're going to shell out for an iPhone, use the native apps, people. In the other direction lies madness...

BLARGLEARG. My plumbing and septic has been an issue for the last five days (including today) because we didn't know what the issue is, and no one wanted to find out; but fortunately there is a light at the end of the tunnel. It seems it is the septic system itself (not covered by my HOI, of course... sigh) instead of a main line problem, so at least now I know how to proceed (probably). It costs a couple of hundred bucks we can't afford, granted, but at least we know what it needs. Feh.

I'm superstitious about this sort of thing, so I'm a bit hesitant to say this, but I can't focus on anything else for being on the edge of my seat:

I've been in hospital with a lung infection for the past two weeks, and today my lung numbers are very improved so I fully expect to be discharged today. *Knocks hard on wood* I'm just waiting for a doctor to give the official go-ahead, and they are taking their sweet-ass time about it...

Anyway, it's been a rough two weeks. I've been hospitalized for longer stretches (one month is my record), but due to really wanting to get home and my pulmonary doctor being on a totally different page than I, I was really gray and despondent for a few days last week. It was really great to know that FAWTL was here to provide a little distraction and interaction.

So thanks, all. :)

Yes, there's nothing quite so irritating as whittling an opponent down to single digits using careful tactics, only to have them bounce back to 30 using Reno.

Another reason why I'm currently favouring MTG arena over Hearthstone currently…
It caters a bit better to my craving for quick and dirt play...

...After googling the Hall of Fame, why is Reno not in it?! He is obnoxious.

I'm an aggro player through and through. If I can't see the end of a game by "turn" 10 to 12 (be it hearthstone, magic or other "card game") then either I've miss-read/played the game, been out played or been royally screwed over by RNG.

Which as an American, I can only interpret as "Parliament can't agree on whether to brexit or not or how hard, and at the same time all the politicians are happy to watch Teresa get blamed for everyone voting no to all her deals."

Well I am being discharged, but it is six hours later and they haven't quite booted me out the door yet...sigh.

So in the meantime, some thoughts about the Wheel of Time:

The Ajahs are kinda inconsistent, a lot like schools of magic. Like some of them kinda make sense, Yellow is about healing, grays are negotiators. But some ajahs are kind of a whole other class of thing, like reds are basically stereotypical lesbian man-haters and greens are free-lovin' free spirits (and also the battle ajah). And blues are all about...'causes', as if that's a distinct and unified thing?

Perrin and Faile irritate the shit out of me. Like I get their marriage fits perfectly into Jordan's men are from mars, women are from venus thing, but ugh. Grow up and talk it out.

Rand is definitely kind of a dick. Nine aes sedai from Salidar help save him from literal torture and captivity at Dumai's Wells, at great personal risk, and in return he forces them to literally kneel before him. Granted there was a prior history between them, but c'mon dude these ones are on your side.

2 people marked this as a favorite.

Also it didn't really strike me the first time reading the Dumai's Wells battle how it must have been like people witnessing industrial warfare for the first time. In a medieval-esque world where Aes Sedai are constrained from using the Power as a weapon, seeing Asha'man literally blowing people to bits must have been like renaissance people seeing a fusillade of canons shred enemy ranks for the first time.

Or in modern times, like me if I ever see actual warfare in person. Probably awesome, in a horrible gut-churning kind of way.

Down here you get to pay higher road tax the moment your vehicle passes 10 years, so we usually have them sold for scrap after 10 years. The reason is that we don’t want our vehicles breaking down in the middle of the road and causing traffic congestion. So the government has deliberately increased road tax a LOT for older vehicles. We definitely don’t get that kind of problems that you described Zelda in having, but looking at the damage, I think it would be cheaper to get a second hand vehicle then actually try to repair it.
