I disagree, I've worked for a total of 7 years in retail in my life and while there were plenty of examples of how terrible and ugly people can be, I also saw countless examples of people trying their best.
Wow and that was at toys r us huh? that was suppose to be one of the worst places to work even worse then target and Walmart. maybe it's where you live? TN does suck pretty hard.

Toys R Us and Saint Vincent DePaul when I was younger.

And nakeder.

I'm resting up today in preparation for the inevitable snow storm tomorrow, at least this one is a miniscule 1-4 inches of snow, which will be a nice stretch in preparation for the slightly more impressive several inches of snow we expect Monday into Tuesday.

I am alive.

Released from the hospital in the wee hours of the morning. I now officially have benign essential hypertension and need blood pressure meds.

In other words, I am old.

Welcome to the club! Have some prunes.

I'm glad that it was nothing more serious, Freehold. I know I may be prying, but does anyone else in your family history have the same problem? The reason I ask is that some medical problems can be inherited.

Glad to read youre up on your feet freehold.

As I am of African descent and have hypertension on both sides of my family, this day has been coming for a while. But I never thought it would be today, as it were.

Glad to hear it's manageable, Freehold, and sorry to hear it happened in the first place...

Shadow Lodge

Yep, welcome to the party. I've been on blood pressure meds since I was in my upper 20s. Know the feeling.

My insomnia issue is somehow related to unknown heart-issues of my own, as getting on a beta-blocker has done wonders for my sleep.

It's so frustrating to see someone do a job incompetently that I do professionally.

NobodysHome: Gods, Nightwish pisses me off SO much.
GothBard: LOL, why?
NH: "OMG! This song is amazing! Who is it?"
"Nightwish?!?!? Again!?!?!? Oh, gods! I'm adding all their stuff to my Spotify!"
"Aaaaaaargh! 90% of their stuff is utter crap, and the other 10% is the best metal you'll ever hear! Damn them!"
GB: And yeah, Nightwish is frustrating that they're so hit or miss, but their hits are dead on
NH: I hear songs that are so good that I actually get up to go over and turn up the volume and see who it is.
And it is always Nightwish.
And then I put on the Nightwish Spotify channel.
And throw up a little in my mouth.
GothBard: LOL
Harsh!

I agree.

Nor do you want to see me build a wall. You would cry, CY.

I think my Dad would do a passable job, but for the rest of the family, we have a long way to go.

OK glad it wasn't something more serious then that. Is your cough better?

Also, uh... Hypertension could also be due to too much salt... And being overweight.

Actually my problem is the other way round, I have slightly low blood pressure. It doesn't hinder anything though.

Hmm. Today's reading - 92/56, resting heart rate of 64.

That's the rub, it's cleaning up snow that they were screwing up, I'd get into more detail but I have to drive Crookshanks to a dance tonight.

Nope, that's what birth control is for.

As someone who has 7 siblings I can say with certainty that two is enough.

So we have a secret shopper with us tonight. Their wake up call is set for after I leave so EZ street for me ha!

I guess you can't really call her a secret shopper since we all know who it is.

So I've been trying out the zip recruiter app. I am not pleased its like oh here is a reasonably nice paying job.. across the country. I marked that thing as not wanting to relocate darn it!

Yeah, it's QA season again. Whee?

Thankfully I generally don't deal with the inspectors. Occasionally one will come down at night on their walk-through (they're supposed to walk the entire property at night to make sure all the lights and everything are working), but they don't want to talk or do anything to make you suspect they are an inspector so that you don't tell the morning crew and get them special treatment.

In other news, it looks like I'm getting my vacation days I asked for. Days that, be sheer coincidence I assure you, just happen to coincide with the state high school wrestling tournament that brings all sorts of a$@&*$~s to town (and the hotel) every year. Nope, sure didn't realize I was asking for those dates off.

bwahaha

Hey all.

So I got a story now gran will get this more then most but I think everyone should understand the problem here.

So guy comes in just now 11 o clock whose stay was for last night. He was upset that we took his stuff out of his ex-room. (he did not tell us he wanted to stay another night until just then.) He I guess expected us to see his stuff in the room and just assume he would need another night.

Fortunately housekeeping always does a good job getting all the guests stuff together so it was easy to find and all put together.

(oh and he smelled like alcohol too)

He's lucky you could get to his stuff. On the (rare) occasions this has happened at my hotel, the stuff all gets locked up in the managers office and the guy would have had to wait until a manager came in the next day to get his stuff back. And, no, they can't just sleep in the lobby.

They have occasionally called me and asked me to bring something to there room for them. (dead give away its a inspector) That happens so rarely that coupled with the rumor that we are going to get an inspector is all it takes to be like 90% sure. Lol the other one is if when they make there reservation they already have all there information ready.

My ex-wife was obsessed with finding the largest prime number. I wonder what she's up to now?

Yeah, they always ask for something so they can time you, but I occasionally have people ask me to bring them towels or something like that, so that wouldn't be a dead giveaway to me. Also, in my experience, the inspectors usually do that earlier in the night. Some of our staff have gotten really good at guessing who the inspectors are based on how they look around the lobby before checking in, and the sorts of questions they ask at check in. Or, rather, the way they ask the questions. Like they sound too rehearsed or something. They don't trip over the words like other people often do.

I helped give a tour of the college the other day. We were passing the main building for the nursing school, and one of the mothers in the group asked "Is this nursing school harder to get into than others?" I said "No, ma'am. There are plenty of doors, and the maintenance staff are very good at keeping them in working order."

I accidentally swallowed some live ammunition yesterday, but didn't want to go the hospital. So I just farted a round at home.

I feel like we need disclaimer to let people know if they do swallow live ammo maybe hit up the hospital. Also stop eating live ammo.

Well done that is what we are paying you for.

I'm getting paid?

See non-disclaimer gran about that.

You're the one who mentioned paying him, so it's your problem.

And to deal with that problem I took standard managerial practices of pawning my work off on someone else.

So you admit you are his manager, and therefore it is your responsibility to see he is paid? AH HA! LAWYERED!

*sigh* He'll never learn.

I.. uh... crap... doom warm up the laser!

On it.

Sigh. I just went swimming(45 min or so?), had a bigger helping of spaghetti then usual, and I'm still hungry. I think I should have left my fruit munching for after the swim and not before =(

Glad to hear they finally figured out what was wrong, I think getting a good night's sleep fixes many health problems.
