Not me.

Beyond that, no idea, I wandered in when I was bored one day and saw Orthos posting in here.

Yay, two pages in a row, just like olde tymes!

Hmm general question for thread: Anyone been around since the first FAWTL?

Should of known the Dragon would be old enough for that.

Great. Now I am old.

Hmm well I recognized aberzombie and of course Paizo employees. It starts out kind of reminding me of the counting thread or last post thread (pre vampire takeover)

All these one word posts and to think people were saying me and Gran where taking up too many pages.

I'm so darned jealous of my brother. He sits on his arse all day long and he's got lower fat percentages and more muscle mass then me, who's been working out at it.

And my cousins gee...both of them don't strike me as the working out in gym sort, but they've got such nice figures...then they explained to me what they ate. Or didn't eat. Due to their busy work schedules they've been intermittently fasting. It's like a cup of espresso with a dash of milk for breakfast, and NOTHING ELSE except water till dinner because they're too busy to go get lunch.

Dinner is a small portion of rice, then 2 dishes of vegetables and one dish of chicken/fish that is steamed/stir fried. Pork doesn't really show up on their menu, though I wonder where they're getting their iron from.

I guess I really should get to skipping some meals.

I did show them what I was eating(I'm fairly clean except for one sugary snack/day) and they suggested I should try to avoid processed foods like paus in the morning.

Anyone wants to suggest any nice healthy breakfasts that are low carb, and don't include eggs, milk or yoghurt?

Nuts are a so-so thing for me. I'm not sure how good they are for weight loss since they do have quite some fats...

I do the quests and then if they have an event and thats all I let myself do so I don't get burnt out but still have cool stuff if I decide I want to play it for real. Hedging my bets I guess.

I do the quests and make sure to hit five wins on ladder every month, but that's as serious as I'm ever going to get with HS.

Soon I'll hit 60 with my hunter, which will be my third maxed out hero! :)

...Yup, Blizzard's got me reeled in good and tight.

Depending on what vegetables they eat, they might get plenty iron that way, if they eat 2 dishes of them.

Spinach is on the menu as are other dark green leafy vegetables. As part of the weight loss package I did a study on iron and vegetable iron isn't as well absorbed as meat iron. Again they're fond of citrus fruits so it might actually work out. Since Vitamin C helps with vegetable iron absorption.

The Exchange

They also said I might want to watch what fruits I'm eating. I'm rather fond of apples(73 calories) and grapes(high calories for fruits).

Once you rule out eggs and bacon/ham/sausage for breakfast, I'm lost.

But what I feel needs to be said, and you can take it or leave it or tell me to shut my face: don't compare your body to others, because you will never be happy. There will always be someone fitter/more toned/thinner/whatever than you. Don't torture yourself. Get yourself to a spot that you're happy with yourself and maintain that.

Val is still sick.
The neighbor's husky was barking its fool head off at 4:30 this morning, so after I went out on the back porch to yell at it, I went to check on Val, and he was actually hungry for the first time in 48 hours.
So I made him some toast.
He ate the toast.
He went back to bed.
The dog got taken inside the neighbor's house.
I noticed we were out of bread.
I baked some bread.
I'm tired.
Thank goodness it's my day to stay home with Val and I don't have to go to work and be functional.

Aside from the sick kid and the barking dog at 4:30 in the morning, I'd love to have the day off work.

I'm getting burned out with these people.

Yesterday someone put in a ticket with an Excel spreadsheet attached that said "Can you make a report that looks just like this one but with different data?"

Get the f outta here. I'm not doing your damn job for you. No.

Having stuff like that to yell at them about once in a while would be one thing. Multiple times a day every day is really getting on my nerves.

My cats listen better than these people do.

I got nothin'. I thought my original Rise of the Runelords group was bad. One of them committed suicide after drinking from the waters of Lamashtu on the altar in the Catacombs of Wrath and another one single-handedly killed the rest of the party after getting splashed with the liquid from the runewell. They've got nothing on that group.

You've really got to wonder how much sense those players have. At the same time though, that sounds like one crazy vicious encounter for a party of level 4 adventurers. And each time it gets worse, as their previous characters get added to their foes. :P

Because I dropped the ball yesterday (I'm noticing a theme...) and forgot to grab something at the store I was supposed to get I'm now on a bus downtown, because grocery shopping is more fun on campus.

That long road trip is sounding better and better.

We just had to prove to one of the managers that there is nothing wrong with the phone system as a whole and that there is nothing wrong with the individual phone of a particular person. They just didn't pick up the phone when she called. Obviously you should call IT in those situations.

How can these people actually be gainfully employed?

Curse of the Crimson Throne Spoiler:
The encounter is designed to teach the players the value of common sense: They're supposed to approach the building in the daylight, examine the bodies, notice the bite marks, research vampires, realize they're out of their league, and try to sneak in and kill them in their sleep.

I've run CotCT twice and neither party had a significant issue with this encounter because the spawn are all asleep in their coffins when the fight starts, and typically one gets coup de graced before anything else happens.

"We're supposed to investigate this building. Let's cause a bunch of explosions, wait 'til night, fight vampires at night, cripple ourselves with Obscuring Mist, and then come back again at night" is just... wow.

So, when I am at work, I am typically insanely productive. I knock tasks off my list like a demon.

On a day like today, however, when I have daylight hours at home to spend doing much-needed tasks that have been on my to-do list for ages (because Val is alternately napping, reading Magic Treehouse books, or playing Atari), I am so hung up by the lack of a set schedule that I can't do much of anything at all. I cleared out most of my gmail inbox. Yeah, *that's* a good use of my time.

How in the flaming heck do people who work from home ever get anything accomplished? Seriously!

Congrats, VE!

And in episode #3895 of, "Things that NobodysHome Hates", we have:

I was complaining to my accountant about my roofer failing to show up for the job after I'd signed a contract for the work.
He said that in the booming construction economy around here, that's the standard.
"If a job is only $10,000-$12,000, they'll take it and then just not show up."
"Well, this was a $47,000 job."
"Well, then I don't know why they didn't take it, but yeah, I'm hearing that from all of my clients these days. Contractors just aren't bothering with any jobs they consider too 'small' for them, and they don't even bother telling the clients."

How is it EVER OK to sign a contract with someone agreeing to do work for them and then just NOT SHOW UP?!?!?!?

I guess they figure since the lawsuit can only collect provable damages, they're better off sticking with high-end jobs.

But seriously. a $47,000 job isn't enough to get my roofer to even show up?

WTF?

Okay, having done corporate HR in a former life, this one actually makes sense to me.

What the management chain at SBC would have done (and did many things just like that) would be to call in IT to prove that there was nothing wrong with the phone line, just so they could start the documentation process showing that the employee was willfully not performing one of their mandatory job functions, or crap like that.

Don't ask me how many times I had to file (or create) documentation of that nature.

(EDIT: When the employees of a large corp are under union contract, this becomes very important. You can't fire someone for cause without a paper trail, and manufacturing a paper trail was a common way at SBC to get rid of someone that just wasn't liked.)

Shiro says the same thing -- he cannot work from home, because he'd just game all day. And we lost our work-from-home privileges at my first tech company because one worker just watched TV all day, and the company was so terrified of discrimination lawsuits that it canceled ALL of our work-from-home time instead of just disciplining him. (And he was a middle-aged white male.)

I manage by very carefully slotting my time. "From 8:00 - 8:30 am, I have to accomplish this one thing at work."

BTW, what kitchen appliances do you need to make bread? Do you need a breadmaker or a steam oven?

You can make bread with a regular oven, if you have one; you can also make pan-bread in a solid iron skillet, though I've never done it.
