And that's one of the reasons why I don't like Texans. And was not as supportive about your move as I should have been. Sorry, LM. I'm not perfect, I can be irritational, prejudiced etc. Despite being a cat.

No worries, Mort.

Texas is an acquired taste. There is much about it that I love, and much about it that fills me with horror and revulsion, and you can't really get one part of it without the other.

Also, I wouldn't know *anything* about imperfection or irrational prejudices.

Ugh. And speaking of things that inspire horror and revulsion, I'm gonna put my clothes back on now.

And Freehold...thank you...although right now it's Earl Grey instead of scotch (I'm out, plus I'm on the clock), but I do have a couple bottles of apple cider mead left for once the day is over.

Oh my god. I discovered random fractal generated visual videos.
I mixed them with a nice trip-hop background Pandora station.
I'm stone sober and this is blowing my mind.

When I finally get some green again, this is going to be my first activity.

So, we just ended a Legend Of Five Rings campaign (arc). The City Of Open Doors was defended against a Yobanjin invasion led by a terrible fire warlock leading an obsidian-bound dragon to be sacrificed so the warlock could take its place in the Heavens.

Of our party of six, two samurai and one monk died, one shugenja (me) ascended to heavens alive after saving the dragon, and the three remaining samurai survived and mourned the departed. (2+1+1+3 totals to six - really, because both samurai were characters of the same player who died, replaced character, and died again)

I also ended having a daughter (bearing the soul of the might troll king), and an adopted son of Senpet descent and strong talent for the Void.

Hey, Limey! Enjoying the new year so far?

Light saber fighting would resemble two people going at it with bokkens since light sabers(at least on earth) don't have an edge, right?

What's funny about this is that yesterday, we were at the seafood counter in the market, and Hermione and Val were staring at the lobster tank.

Hermione asked, "Mama, may we please buy a lobster?"
I said, "No, because you can't just buy one, you have to buy enough to feed everybody, and they're expensive; also, they sell them to you alive and you have to kill them by dropping them into a pot of boiling water to cook. I can't do that myself, so I prefer to have other people cook them for me."
Hermione, shocked: "NO! I don't want to kill it and eat it; I want to get a tank and keep it as a pet."
So we started talking in the car about making up a character who is a sea-elf druid who rides a Dire Lobster, with which she can communicate telepathically, and which has an amazing pincer grab/super-fast retreat ability.

Bokkens have an edge.

I mean, there's a definite front and back and they are treated as if they have an edge.

The setting was reset for the 5th edition and we are playing in early 1122 or somewhere along that date. Spiders are not even a thing.

Got my bill from hospital not nearly as bad as I thought. Still considerably more then I'd like but between the 89% off for being uninsured and the 20% additional off that for paying it off all at once it wasn't so bad. It didn't even fully deplete my emergency fund.

its really not much of one, just a suggestion of where it would be for a real sword.

That said it will still kill you.

Speaking of L5R, I once made a disgraced ronin who only never fought with boken, as he said he was unworthy of carrying a sword.

I really need to get back into NCJF L5R.

Okay that's good to hear. The last thing youd want is being unable to pay for hospitalization.

Next campaign will be played using 5th edition (FFG) mechanics.

Holy Toledo, it's been a long time since I updated Hero Labs.

It's annoying they don't have Starfinder on Herolabs unless you want to subscribe, or something.

That s#@% had so many plot holes and bad writing in it I wanted to scream at the screen.

My question is

Spoiler:
Now that Thanos has all six infinity stones, he's a god. And that's, like, an understatement for anyone but a monotheist. Certainly more of a god than Thor is. More of a god than Superman too, come to think of it, least of all because he's got no vulnerabilities.

So what's anyone going to do about him other than cry as he wipes out half the universe?

I mean obviously the story is going to end with someone using the infinite-time stone to go back in time and save all the dead avengers and guardians. But I can't even imagine how Thanos is gonna get dead. Or more likely imprisoned, general Zod style.

In the comics, his motivations are entirely different, which is why he is able to be exploited. First, he's infatuated with Death herself, and trying to impress her. And so, in order to "give the enemies a chance" he cuts himself off from the mind, time, and soul stones, so he doesn't automatically know how to predict his enemies' movies, giving them "a tiny possibility of winning". He almost loses from this, but realizing his mistake, undoes it.

Then, after he wrecks everyone, he ditches his corporeal form and becomes purely spirit, assuming nobody can touch his gauntlet - but he forgets that he left his granddaughter as a sort of undead creature in eternal torment, who snatches the gauntlet, undoes the "snap" and everything else, and herself is so busy fighting the "gods" that Thanos defeated who are now back to life (the cosmic entities like Galactus), that they somehow get the gauntlet from her while she's...distracted? It's been a while. The point was she wasn't as practiced in wielding it as Thanos, nor as naturally cunning of a strategist, and was still adapting to understanding it.

I also remember one timeline where he was just sorta talking with Silver Surfer (he kept him alive because he respected him as a former enemy I think) about how everything was boring as a god with unlimited powers, and I think one of his daughters talked him into just...giving it up.

The only thing I can guess is that somehow Stark talks him into giving it up, because there's no other reason I can see that Strange gives away the time stone instead of, you know, going back in time and preventing him from getting the first stone!

In the movie the Infinity Gauntlet is f@~#ed up after snapping his finger, so I wouldn't be surprised if that plays into the downfall of Thanos.

So...when Strange looks through over 14 million possible outcomes and only comes up with one possible course of action that doesn't end in disaster, you're saying he didn't think of using the Time Stone himself, even after saying he might need to use it in the opening fight with Ebony Maw?

Ok.

Since 9:30 PM New Year's Eve I've worked 25.5 hours (I'm thankfully still not working) and was still able to shave.

At the end of the day I think his master also wanted to die to atone for all she had done. You got to respect people's wishes sometimes.

Also, that's only one of my issues, such as:

Other Stuff I Didn't Like:
Pepper being angry that Stark goes into space, even though if the freaking universe ends, he'd die anyway, so that's just illogical and stupid

How many times Dr Strange could've portaled someone into an Earth-Like-Planet billions of lightyears away from this galaxy but never actually did. (At first I thought a black hole, but then I figured the gravitational pull would pull everything INTO the portal, and...the point is, he used it on Loki in Thor 3, so why not now?)

How Captain America could hold back the fist of a man who out-punched the Hulk.

How the Hulk, a creature with absolutely no fear, was afraid.

How Thanos could take a punch from the Hulk in the first place. He has limitless strength. Thanos is roughly as strong as the Thing. Admittedly this gripe is lowered due to the Power Stone being in his possession.

His stupid motivation in this version for getting the gauntlet. The gauntlet could provide LIMITLESS RESOURCES, so the "let's kill half the universe" thing was stupid. Also, people continue to f&&~ and have kids, so that would only be a temporary solution, at best. FURTHERMORE the Universe does have limitless resources, (or as near to limitless as possible, and certainly more than cutting the population in half would help), so that's just stupid altogether.

How Vision, a robot made out of freaking Vibranium, keeps getting stabbed through the chest throughout the entire movie.

How Black Widow and Captain America were able to fight an enemy who beat up Vision, one of the most powerful characters in all of Marvel.

I could probably go on...

It wasn't a bad movie at all, but it was over-hyped, and the writing was "meh". The action was enough to more than make up for it. I'm a sucker for high action poorly written movies. I was born in the 80s, after all.
