Easter can get weird.

An Easter eyeball is weird but then to be fair most of the Easter traditions are pretty odd. Rabits don't even lay eggs. You know what I'm just gonna default to the Jim gaffifan joke about easter.

For dinner, I'll have some Empenadas with Jamaican style Beef patties. I wonder what they're like.

Well-made Jamaican patties are one of the greatest foods known to man.

Especially when eaten with some cocobread and a cold beer.

Cocobread is a flat, round, soft bread, buttered excessively at multiple points in the baking process. It contains no cocoa. This confuses many people. It is an excellent accompaniment to spicy foods like patties.

PORRIDGE FOREVER

I prefer breakfast rice myself.

I just eat bread/pizza/cake in the morning.

Doing that carb loading first thing eh?

I like some protein for my breakfast meal more so.

Oh so My SO got me an S8 phone for my B-day so I'm part of the 21st century now. It was just a phone to me till I dropped something in my floor board and figured the phone probably had a light on it typed in flas and it auto-filled to flashlight and turned right on. Ok so that was pretty nifty.

My facial hair turns on my flashlight when I'm talking on the phone.

The problem is, talking on the phone is incredibly archaic, I prefer texting.

Also, my phone sucks for talking, it keeps turning on the g%*!$$n flashlight, and the blue tooth, and then more often than not people on the other end can't hear me.

Which is why I love it, I've always hated talking on the phone, always.

Also, just helped my aunt haul 116 lbs of furniture from the bottom of the flat (via lift) up to her place. It's a 5 piece chest of drawers...considering I weigh about 126 lbs myself...yep, I'm a little bit.

It was split into 22 lbs, 28 lbs(x2) and 37 lbs. Since I can't cart the full 116 lbs at once myself...

It was all dismantled and packed nicely in boxes.

Some nice big Caucasian guy carried the 22 lb and 28 lb box and helped me load it in the taxi.

Meh, I don't think I can lift 50 lbs at one go(without tools).

I can't imagine not having bread for breakfast. It's just odd...granted the last time I was in Cambodia, I had pig innard soup for breakfast, and in japan, I'm happy eating fish roe, pickled squid guts, tamago, and rice for breakfast.

You see, I was thinking, hey, Bishan to Bradell station is 1.9 miles according to google maps, lets run there and back. I know the way to Bishan station from bradell, so I got my jogging shoes out, strapped on my bag, and started jogging slowly there. Then realized that eh..? For 1.9 miles, Bishan station appeared WAAAY too soon, and I wasn't even the least tired. And I knew I wasn't jogging fast since I was trying to work out the technique.

Turns out I took a shortcut, which cut it to 0.6 miles...>.< So I made sure I took the detour all the way back to get the 1.9 mile run. I also took it easy this time round since I'm trying to change my foot landing to a forefoot strike instead of my usual heel strike.

Buddy is home!

Squeezing a ferret bladder to make it pee because it's spinal disc is too swollen to pee himself temporarily is...kinda fun. It's oddly satisfying in a gross way, like popping a pimple.

He's dragging his legs still, but once in a while, he'll move them a bit. Plus I'm giving him PT by holding his little hands while he shuffles his back feet so he's getting tougher by the day.

I meanwhile STILL can't get a PF game going...or even a decent poker game.

I think flakiness is the quality I hate most that I encounter on a regualar basis. I would bet money the number of flaky people in America is 70+%...but then how would you measure that?

I'm almost willing to start the horribly long and boring process of trying to get into a PbP again. I mean I like PbP but the audition process is just...ugh.

Just a Mort wrote:

I remember reading somewhere a shoe with less arch support and more flat soles can lead you to subconsciously incline your forefoot for more support. It's the theory behind the barefoot fad a few years back, but without the risk of pinworms.

Rage Against the Machine is better than Audioslave.

And in a rare twofer, Soundgarden was also better than Audioslave.

Nothing is better than Temple of the Dog, the single greatest album ever recorded.

RIP Chris Cornell.

10000 Maniacs > Natalie Merchant solo.

I'm on the fence about New York Dolls vs. David Johansen's film career.

True story: when I saw the Bill Murray "Very Murray Christmas" special, I watched Johansen singing the Pogue's "Fairytale of New York", and I didn't recognize him for some reason. And the first thought that went through my head was, "Daaaamn, Brad Pitt has either really let himself go, or they've got a great makeup artist."

I've got the house to myself for three whole hours this morning. Whingey Wizzard took the kids to ballet and then they're going to buy a $30 lawnmower from some guy on Craigslist. I'm supposed to be working on shifting boxes in the garage, clearing and organizing, so the contractor can come and replace the broken garage door this week.
(Let me say again: sooooooo glad we're only renting and didn't actually buy this place. Holy Toledo.)
(And, yeah, WW's shoulder is still out of commission, so he can't help; it's only been four weeks since he injured it and he can't lift anything with it, or train/take ukemi, for eight weeks.)
But, honestly, I just want to lie on the couch with a pot of tea and read the new book I got for my birthday (The Song of Achilles, by Madeline Miller).
I'll feel like a s#!+heel if I don't do the garage.

I love Audioslave. A lot.

But Rage was better. One Day as a Lion is ok but doesn't measure up. ZDLR's solo stuff is hot garbage. I wish his concept album with Trent Reznor panned out...oh well...

I found Soundgarden equal to Audioslave; both are better than Cornell solo. (Though his Billie Jean cover was epic.)

Cornell was the second best rock singer of our generation (Maynard edges him out) and a great writer. He will be missed.

The single greatest album recorded was Abbey Road. The Beatles aren't my favorite band but that album influenced musicians for decades...and continues to do so. You've heard every song. You know every lyric even if you don't like them. It's that epic of an album.

Rewarded: I found, in a box from three moves (eleven years) ago, a greeting card from a friend. It must have arrived as we were packing and ended up in a box, because I had never opened it.
And there was a $10 Starbucks card inside.

It was Saturday sparring today. I thought that a tankard would work well as an off-hand parrying device, and I was very correct.

However, the trains are on strike, so it's a looooong journey home...

I have spent all day filling myself with Miralax and uncomfortable medicinal wonders, and I still have twenty pounds of extra weight lodged in my gut. So it looks like it's the ER for me tomorrow.

Because who needs a relaxing weekend? Not me, I love spending my free time on disaster after disaster. >:(

I hope this disaster is taken care of swiftly.

Hmm slow day.

I currently have a women's junior college volleyball team eating pizza in my lobby. Things could be better.

We had a football team last night. they were so quiet I never even knew they were here and they filled up over half the hotel however for some reason when we had a women's volleyball team in about a quarter of our rooms they were just the worst. I wonder if its the sport or the gender to blame... hmm...

Well third to worst second to worst is the canoeing club and thats because their parents are the most stuck up yuppiest People I've ever witnessed. "What do you mean I have to walk all the way down to the end of the hall to get to my room"

The very worst being the drug task force officers who stay with us. regularly. we've had to ban 3 of them for sexually harassing our staff, they let their drug sniffer dogs (we do not allow pets mind you) to just hang out in their rooms and do their business. and they track mud everywhere. not to mention everyone of them that I talked to was abrasive. Frankly Id rather have the drug addicts instead of those guys.

They aren't being a problem right now. I would just prefer if they weren't here. Although, they are eating pizza, so I'm going to have some cleaning up to do later.
