I don't have a basement.
And usually with family there's a certain culture in the family. So if your family is punctual, usually every member should be?
Dad likes to be 5 minutes early. Mom tends to show up exactly on time. As I said, I try to be 15 minutes early. For some reason he just won't.

Let's all take a moment and be thankful that sweat is (typically) clear.
(I know that there is a condition that can cause colored sweat. And that some animals, like hippos, have colored sweat. But let's stick with normal human biology for the moment.)
I am aware that is a fetish for some.

Made it back to Richmond.
Ordered Thai food.
Eight days from now, we are on the road!
All I have to do this week is pack boxes, load the truck, and clean.
::cracks knuckles::
I read this post, and I thought you were in Virgina now. Sad part is, I'm a Bay Area native who still lives in the Bay Area (not San Francisco anymore, though), I've been to Richmond relatively recently, and I have friends in Richmond.

Maybe us Asians tend to follow family more. Anyway I did do my signing up for the solo game so I guess we'll just see. Though I should be prepping for Ironfang invasion book 2...

Their is definitely a lot more respect for ones parents in asian culture I've seen stats on that. There is also (at least according to statistics) a strong cultural urging to not disappoint your parents in Asian culture.

Mort, you can "stalk" me any day...not that my posting history shows any thing you can really use.
Though I'm far more nervous about possible "basement time"...god know what kind of creepy-crawlies that haunt Singaporean basements
*Shrudders*
Also.
Think its the smartest choice drejk, as I said yesterday we wouldn't want you coughing and sputtering through this summer.
*pats drejk on the back*
And LM, I wish you great strength and fortitude! I don't know about you but I hate the packing/unpacking part if moving...that hard enough for me as it is. Then I image you doing it with husband and kiddies running around...
*gets dizzy, blood pressure rises dramatically and starts to stress out*
*pours himself a glass of Rum...thinks about and pours another one and tried to push it through his screen to LM*

My mom was late for everything, she even had our clocks set fifteen minutes ahead so she wouldn't be late (didn't work).
In reaction, all us kids became super punctual, including me, until I had kids, then I realized how much of a time sink kids are! So I could still be super anal about being early to everything like the rest of my family, and then the wife and kids hate me, or just say f! it, we'll get there when we get there.
I went with option b.
So, yes, we're usually late to family gatherings.

I've been in Richmond for 7 of the 22 years I've lived in the East Bay. (San Leandro, then Oakland, then Berkeley, now here). I like it a lot. I'm just tired of working my tail off just to stay flat broke. Unless you make money like Nobody's Home, Shiro, or the Ersatz Russian, trying to raise a family here in the Bay is brutal.

Not a strep throat, but a bacterial infection nonetheless, antibiotic for the next six to eight days and something supposed to reduce the pain. We'll see how will it work.
Good you got to the bottom of things Drejk. Hope you heal up fast!
(Reaches for Kjel's proffered rum, offers hug.)
(Eyes rum.)
It's 5:30 and I was about to get out of bed, make some coffee, and start on boxes.
(Saves for later.)
*Accepts hug*
*Nods understandingly and saves more Rum for later*
We don't have a basement lol. And GM work never ends...time to start prepping book 2...or am I being paranoid?
Nope not paranoid. Overtly prepared maybe?
*shrugs*Mort is Mort, and Mort likes to plan things out.
Might not be what I would have done (tweaking encounters, writing alternative paths through the book and stuff like that), but then again, I'm not Mort am I?! =)
I have a little bit of time today to post stuff.
Hey John.

Problem is I don't know what alternative path they will likely take at this point of time.
I only prepared 1/3 of 2nd book then felt tired and went to do slay the spire instead. I know I shouldn't get distracted like that but the game hasn't started yet so there's still time, right?

On a more serious note, I have doubts about Amazon's promise for 2-day delivery on the item I ordered this morning. It promised that I will receive the item on Monday, still says that in fact, and yet it also says that it hasn't shipped yet. Since I really doubt that it will be picked up on Sunday, I have little hope that it will get to me on Monday.
Amazon warehouses and shipping work on Sundays.

Vidmaster7 wrote:I hate that mentality. I always plan to get places at least 15 minutes early. I can't stand it when people are late, unless they call/text/whatever to let you know they are running late and give an updated ETA. It's one of the big differences between my brother and I. He has no problem being late, even more than 30 minutes without bothering to tell anyone. I once pissed him off because we were supposed to meet for dinner at 7. When he hadn't showed by 7:15, I tried texting him and he didn't reply. So at 7:30 I called him. He didn't answer so I left a voicemail. At 7:40, I decided to leave. He then showed up at 7:45, found I wasn't there, and was pissed off at me for leaving.gran rey de los mono wrote:There are some people who would still be late even if they could teleport anywhere instantly. My mom used and and probably still does plan trips under the assumption that the person she has an appointment with won't mind if she is 15 minutes late.
So, you guys are describing the stuff of legends, such as BOTH my brothers (we honestly don't even think about younger brother arriving on time for any trips, so when he says he'll be in by 10:00 pm and we all go to bed anyway and then hear banging around in the kitchen at 4:00 am, we know he's finally in, 6 hours late).
The two things that drive me crazy are:
I hate hypocrisy and lack of communication. I was going to write that I hate people who are always 30+ minutes late with no excuses, but I know we're frequently later than that to the Fremont games because NobodysWife is not a morning person so she has a heck of a time getting out the door in the morning, but at least she texts the group and says, "Sorry, I'm running a bit late..." before anyone else is supposed to arrive so they know they can relax at home for a bit longer.

My parents were both strictly punctual, as am I. My older brother is in the "10-15 minutes tardy" variety. My younger brother is in the "can easily run in the 2-3 hours late variety".
So I'll disagree on the whole "family" thing.
