As the oldest (thus far) male member of my family he lived to the fine age of 90 years old.
He had slowly, but surely been racking up various health problems for quite some time, so in a sense, his death wasn't unexpected.

He was a man of his time. Born in the 20's he'd lost touch with the speed with which society sped along, and struggled to make sense of rapid development of the world around him. As a staunch conservative, we often didn't se eye to eye politically, but as a jokester and a bit of a comedian he was always fun to be around, and that mischievousness is truly something I'll miss.
While "old" in outlook and right-wind in opinion (and voting) he was never truly unreasonable. Them foreigners got accused of a lot of things, and he was leery when an Iraqi family moved in next door. Though as with so many other things he blatantly claimed to dislike, the old coot still helped them get their first vegetable garden growing, and he would invite their children and grandchildren over for a cold drink and some fruit from the garden in summertime.
In short, his "Good" might not have been your "Good", but he did his best to make his time here a boon to those around him.

You'll be missed Carl. I know that much cause I already do.

Rest in peace, good sir. It seems you already have those who will carry your memory forward.

I found out at work today why the students have been complaining so much over the past year.

A little over a year ago, we started enforcing rules and guidelines for the kits they turn in. The students are unhappy there is more required of them and we're not accomplishing more. The amount required of them is only growing in response to their complaints, since some of it can only be fixed on their end.

How does this overlap into any of what you experienced earlier?

It's a college environment. What makes you think logic or reason have any power over how anything is done?

Just today, I had to lecture a doctor forty years my senior on basic infection control protocol. This man has been cleaning teeth since before the age of computers and still doesn't understand the benefit of wearing gloves.

I had to lecture him in front of students he's in charge of teaching. And that's still far from the worst OSHA violation to happen today.

If OSHA ever investigates, the prison sentences will look like a chapter of Genesis. "And Paul was sentenced to 900 years. And Amanda was sentenced to 900 years. And Raul was sentenced to 900 years. And..."

Look at the post date. It seems to be an April Fools joke two years ago - long before actual Pathfinder 2E was announced.

Wasn't the latest DnD controversy some minor thing over an Unearthed Arcana article? I thought there was one in February.

Don't feel bad about that; I actually asked David Tennant about an article I'd read last week about a Doctor Who/Broadchurch crossover episode, and it turns out that it was just an April Fools hoax, and he hadn't even heard about it.

NobodysHome's Journey, Day 4: THAT Could Have Gone Better:
The morning before Disneyland went amazingly smoothly, as did the first few hours at the park. Unfortunately, at the 1:00 pm check-in one of the kids didn't check in with his chaperone. We ended up with two situations:
(1) A missing kid
(2) My phone mysteriously stopped being able to send to the group chat, so as I kept typing, "I'm in California Adventure at the missing persons office. Please send me a description and/or a photo," I was completely ignored. It was... stressful.

So, it turns out the kid is a borderline-functional autistic and his parents hadn't seen fit to, oh, mention this to the chaperones. So once he got into the park, all the other kids ditched him, he had no idea what he was supposed to do, so he curled up with a book in the shade and just sat there. For 4 hours. His chaperone finally found him and started taking him on rides and he loved them, but
(a) He'd already lost 4 hours, and
(b) After we'd already contacted his parents once about him being missing, we weren't about to let him be alone again.

So for the 5:00 - 7:00 pm chaperone dinner we handed him off to a group of seniors and I gave them a couple of my antique gift cards to help them buy dinner (I bought the cards maybe 5 years ago for Impus Major and Impus Minor and they'd never used them, so I ended up paying for the seniors' entire dinner, but meh, I wasn't using the cards anyway).

At 7:00 pm the other male chaperone and I were scheduled to go back to the hotel, and we had to take the kid with us. He was very unhappy about it, but:
(a) He'd violated the check-in policy, and the result is a clear, "You have to return to the hotel with your chaperone for the day," and
(b) His other choice was to be with another chaperone for the evening, and none of them volunteered. (I was a bit peeved about that one.)

So, mostly-uneventful, and one unhappy kid out of 130 isn't a bad track record. At the end of the night I saw the buses off and went to bed.

Yeah, that's the sort of thing that really needs to be communicated very clearly. I speak from the experience of The Adult Child, who has sensory processing disorder (SPD, and it is a form of autism) as well as a couple other mental illnesses. She's doing a lot better now, but when she was in high school, that sort of experience would have sent her into a full-blown panic attack.

And we go through another round of "why do we have to do so much history research stuff for English class, blaaaah" to which the answer is, of course, "so I don't have to keep stopping our reading in class to explain what a bootlegger is (and also mini-research projects like this get you more experienced with those pesky research/speaking and listening standards)."

They've been pretty good so far.

In general I don't do (whom very familiar and comfortable with) people well. And boy, my mother.

State Farm sent duplicate copies of the insurance renewal to me and the property manager. The property manager e-mailed my mother to ask her what it was about.

She panicked, sent questions and confusion everywhere, so I said, "Well, if you're going to do that kind of s***, then now YOU can be in charge."

And she panicked again, and now she's not talking to me.

It's like, "What part of leaving property management to the property managers is SO hard for you?"

Autism is a challenge even at the best of times..my best friend is probably autistic, and i know others who definitely are. For the most part, I let their beautiful minds function as they normally do, and am aware that social failings on their part are likely not personal, although I do speak up when things are going wrong for me or others in the vicinity.

I can’t even imagine not telling the people in charge something that important. Hell, I can’t imagine letting the kidlet go on an overnight school trip without one of us chaperoning. And he’s high functioning. Amusement parks are often not so amusing for kids with autism.
