I'm watching video of Day9 playing They Are Billions, a zombie survival RTS game. He said "I can't believe I've lost all those times to one zombie walking into town, hitting a house, and then everything turned to zombies." I just thought "Yeah, that's how zombies work."

Uhh...nekkid zombies? Gross.

Some people had to of gotten bit while in the shower right?

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Yeah, but still gross. I don't want undead dangly bits being waved in my direction.

And it just happened to him again.

Zombies, even man zombies, don't necessarily have dangly bits...

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Zombie dangly bit probably don't last long. really though muscle tissue doesn't last THAT long so Zombies always bother me. they shouldn't last more then 24 hours at the most. I guess resident evil zombies regenerate so at least their is some logic there.

So far my birthday is off to a good start. I’m 41 today. The kidlet gave me the card he made for me this morning. Apparently the reason he’s been so tired this week is because he’s been staying up late to work on it every night this week. It’s a really cool card. :)

Side note: we never buy cards. Well, almost never. Sometimes I buy blank cards for holidays and such. But mostly we just make cards for all special occasions. I don’t remember why it started, but we’ve been doing it this way since the kidlet was little. Probably because I’m disorganized and never remembered to buy cards ahead of time. :P

Happy belated late B-day, Lyn!

Supposedly we're supposed to get up to 6 inches (of snow) today, I'll believe it when I see it.

Edit: Nevermind, they already downgraded it to "a couple of inches"

Well, I don't know what I did, but considering the last time he actually prepped we had a really amazingly enjoyable session, I'll keep it up.

I blame pizza karma. Still.

Today it's supposed to stay under 75. I'll believe it when I see it.

We might get up to 30 by next weekend.

I share your perception that Asia is generally more patriarchal than the U.S.. Thanks to feminism, women here are a lot more at liberty to pursue life and happiness than they were a century ago.

Was that too political for FAWLT? I'm not sure, but I'm pretty sure this is:

Tequila and Mort:
I don't know if this is just an American thing. And it's not really an American thing; just a few people who stopped maturing when they got sucker punched by puberty.

Some people like to breastfeed in public, don't bother to cover, and then get offended if they catch anyone even glancing in their direction. Enough dealing with that, and you can very quickly determine the benefits to society do not outweigh the problem people.

I've only seen it happen once. It's amazing how much of a scene a single person can make. And how much the headache of dealing with that one can influence opinion of others.

Does Los Angeles have pedestrians?

When I was there it seemed like people drove everywhere but the sidewalks were all but abandoned.

There are certain roads where I live where walking on the sidewalk is a potential Darwin Award. It's just that dangerous. Maybe LA is just the city version of that?

HEY Y'ALL!

I finally got around to starting a non-gamer blog! Yes, it is political. :) There's no name-callin' or cussin', but if you're a TN type and just want to avoid politics altogether, you've been warned.

My first post is Breastfeeding in Public.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

@Mort & Terrinam

Spoiler:
The recent incident I mentioned is posted on Facebook. Baby won't eat in the dark, mom shows the skin she needs to get the job done, manager asks her to cover up, mom explains she can't, manager attempts to shame mom, mom cites lawful protections for breastfeeding, manager kicks her out.

It's hard to know where and when breastfeeding is worthy of how much public shaming, but it is far from universal. There is religious iconography I mentioned in my blog post, if you care to read. I've experienced public breastfeeding a few times, and it does make me uncomfortable -- hey I'm a straight guy, oh the internal confusion! -- but I suspect if I saw it more often I'd get comfortable with it quick.

@Terrinam

Spoiler:
I can easily imagine some mothers getting tetchy after experiencing a lot of public shaming, and assuming that every glance in her direction is meant to shame. I wonder how far a simple "Hey mother, good on you!" comment would go toward defusing the anger she might feel toward incidental glancers. I can tell you how amazingly banal and harmless breastfeeding is when people simply accept it and go on with their lives.

@Tequila

Spoiler:
I'm going to avoid talking about the history for a specific reason. I know why it is such a recent phenomenon. Ask in PMs if you're curious.

But, I can understand that mother's position. She is in the right. I'm just sorry it's this fouled-up.

To be honest, I always felt that not bothering to comment on someone breastfeeding at all was a better solution. It avoids accidentally being creepy, and treating it as no big deal normalizes it and helps remove a lot of the stigma. Not looking at it if offended takes very little energy. It's not like human women had a choice about how their anatomy evolved or how society came to view it. Few million years too late to do anything about it. And it's not exactly a recent thing.

And that's all I'm going to say on that here. I apologize for how much I've talked about it already.

Too much dust around. Maybe I should clean a bit from time to time... Whoa! Don't get carried too far with that cleaning thing...

I might need to get a dust mask before I proceed further, anyaway.

Yay! Monthly toy propaganda videos are back!

New guy is super nervous, dancing around on his feet and demonstrating exaggeratedly with his hands.

If it didn't make me nauseous I'd totally watch it in 3-D.

Oh right, I was supposed to listen to him, it was something to do with being heroic...

There is law, and there are also accepted social norms. I was never asking about covering the baby, but rather going to a corner, then using the towel as a screen between the breastfeeding mom, baby and the rest of the world. A bit like how this guy is himself partially with the towel.

Babies have poor eyesight. Stand a little distance away, they won't even notice the towel.

I mean, you don't spit in public even if it isn't banned by the law, do you?

But if you're alone then you can't do that and yes it becomes a problem.

Come on, cover turtle. You already know I gobble everything.

And I've even said I ate turtles =)

But really different cultures so we have different ideas what's good to eat.

The more important part I'd think is that you eat farmed turtles so you don't run out of turtles when you want turtle soup.

Only a little more than an hour left, currently about two inches (of snow) on the ground.

Should be a fun drive home! (I'm being serious, I love driving in the snow).

If there is one thing that doesn't change, it's player entitlement.

I feel that one needed a quote it seemed kind of out of the blue.

Like what does player entitlement have to do with turtle soup?

Granted some of the anti caster stuff was funny...

PFS spoiler:

There are pillars speckled in a room that is filled with acid. Clearly they're expecting the rogue to bounce from pillar to pillar to the end to get the Mcguffin. Or some happy caster to fly over.

Me: Hey Socks (my steam mephit) - Fetch me that gemstone over there.

One heightened greater dispel magic later(which would have stripped fly spells dumping said caster into acid), Socks flaps over and brings me the gem, one mage armor spell less. Mephits fly without any magical help, and I take out a pearl of power to refresh that mage armor.

Interesting. sounds like fun. reminds me of one of my favorite traps form 3.5 epic level handbook. Beholder waiting in a pit trap so when people magically fly over his central eye anitmagic them. (there was also a black dragon waiting in darkness on the other side and he could fill the pit with acid if necessary easily enough as well but that is less related.)

Yeah, those two were neat monsters.

No Beholders and Mind Flayers were definitely selling points for Pathfinder for me.

Anyone that likes them were clearly not disintegrated or mind f@&*ed enough or they were and the Stockholm syndrome is setting in...

And no, I don't miss Displacer Beasts either.

February 5th... When did you get a Delorean?

It's 8:42 am on February 4th here and a warm and sweltering 12 degrees (-4 if you want to go by windchill) with a fresh 4 inches (of snow) on the ground so it looks like the side of a holiday tin.
