I got irritated last night.
Post the question in the Rules forum.
I'm sure you'll get a wise and reasoned response.
...ducks, puts on heavy-duty earplugs and ballistic helmet... hides for a while... tosses a random Captain Yesterday into the Rules threads just to stir things up a bit... comes back a week later...
Kitty? You alive?
EDIT: Apparently CY threw my clothes when I threw him! Come back here, you!

An investigator’s inspiration pool refreshes each day, typically after he gets a restful night’s sleep.
A more helpful answer:
"Atypical situations could include:- Possession of a Ring of Sustenance
- The party cleric casting Nap Stack
- Divine intervention granting the effects of a full night's rest without having had one."
But I know your pain. The usual, "The authors added the word 'typically' to avoid making it an absolute, so the players treat it as 'never'."
Sorry. Been there. Hate that.

I don't think I did too bad a job of putting my point across. Though this isn't the first time he's been trying to deliberately interpret rules in players favor.
His interpretation of confusion:
you roll every round. Only if you get attack nearest enemy do you have to attack whoever attacked you. I think. Weird reread it and it does say if you are still confused you attack whoever attacks you.
But it also says to roll at start of turn. I think you still have a chance to act normally or babble... that's confusing, lol.
He even comes up with bogus rules:
incorporeal nondamaging spells only have a 50% chance of affecting a target on the material plane unless it is force, yes?
Now where do Those come from, I wonder?

Gamblers are a+~#$%~s. D!**%ead actually wins pairs on three card, b+*+*es he didn't have trips, and when I kindly try to be optimistic and tell him at least he won, he yells at me about being down hundreds overall.
1. You walked into a casino. If you don't know the odds are against you, you need a helmet and a vasectomy to ensure you don't reproduce.
2. F+@* you. I was trying to be nice. I didn't take your money. You lost it at another table. Now I hope the house bleeds his ass so bad he ends up an anemic with colon cancer...metaphorically speaking, only, of course.
I USED to pity these addicts, but most are real dicks. Now I'm just jealous they have so much disposable income to piss away while I can't even afford an apartment.

This guy is a regular, by the way. He comes in every night and keeps feeding the dealer hundred dollar bills. He's annoying, flirts shamelessly with the female dealers, and talks s$++ in arabic about people he doesn't like. I know cause one of our ex military dealers speaks it and confirmed he's talking s#@$ the whole time. Can't stand this douche.
I really hope he loses a few grand tonight.

I usually think just lose your money and f@#%ing leave already because these people won't EVER leave if they win. One halfatard was up 5 grand from only 200 bucks and gave it all back as he waited to hit yet another mini royal.
The odds are 1 in 54 million or so (looked it up at wizards of odds a couple days ago) of getting even one mini royal in three card, but I'm sure you'll get another. Dumbass.
The precious few kind regulars usually spend most of their time at hold em, which doesn't need a designated player cause it is pool banked, not against the house, so I rarely see them.
But as you said I do get to watch karma and statistics kick their ass, which is nice.
Today I saw a guy lose 5 grand playing 1 card poker (basically war). He was nice, though. A~&!&@# is still playing meanwhile, so either he isn't losing or he has more disposable income to piss away...either case is b#*@%@!&.

The one time I went gambling (we didn't go for that but wed figure we try it) My friend (who was paying for everything cause hes that kind of guy) ended up winning enough money to pay for the entire trip then said I think I'll stop here. (I lost 20 bucks myself). So basically ended up making the whole thing free for all of us. Glad he was smart enough to stop when he was ahead.

Came to work tonight to find a note from the manager saying "Do this training module immediately!" I log into the training site, and see that I have done that module. About 2 years ago, in fact. But they added more b%&+*! to it, so now I had to take the entire module over in order to do the new stuff. And what was the new stuff, you probably aren't asking? A couple of videos claiming to be based on real interactions with guests, and some "partner learning" where you are supposed to talk with another employee about the crap you just read, watched videos on, and took a quiz on. Of course, there isn't anyone around to actually talk to if I wanted too, so I just marked it as done. What a waste of a half hour. Oh, and the course is supposed to take 3.5 - 4 hours to complete, but if (like me) you notice that there is a caption button you can use to read the stuff instead of waiting forever for the "dramatizations" and PowerPoint-esque nonsense, you can really speed through it fast.

Nice. The last one of those tings I had to do was training on a new system that lets guests use their phones as key cards. the training video literally thought me nothing. They must of gave us the wrong one nothing from what we actually did to what it said matched up except on the most abstract level.

Using phones as keycards sounds cool! I wanna! But yeah I’m slightly grumpy today since I hate getting into arguments with players at midnight…since it cuts into my sleep time, and insufficient sleep makes me grumpy.
Again my sense of responsibility wouldn't let the argument go unanswered. So I HAD to answer to his complaints, really.

To be fair, the hot tub is leaking from a pipe that is buried in concrete, so it's not an easy fix. We actually had a similar leak that they got fixed a few years ago, and they had to tear up a lot of concrete, replace the leaky pipe, pour new concrete, and then put new floor tiles down. This required the hot tub and pool to be out of order for about two weeks, which resulted in a lot of complaints. But, yeah, they really need to fix it.

My dad said he was always very fortunate not to have any gamblers luck. Whenever he’d try any form of gambling, he’d just lose his pants outright, so there was never any temptation for him to go gambling at all.
Me? I never go gambling except on Chinese New Year, and my luck is neutral.
On the other hand my BF has decent luck…he generally manages to farm phat lewt in WOW. God hand, he calls it.
And managed to six link an item with 6 sockets with only 97 fusing orbs in path of exile.

Or if he doesn't show up in the next few weeks assume he was mugged. (IS it one of those casino's? *wink wink nudge nudge*)
It's kind of a s@!$hole, but they pay the sherriff for security so it is safe. It looks like a dilapidated prison from the outside cause the owners are too cheap to renovate.
Google earth fort pierce jai alai and poker if you're curious.
He did get a lot friendlier after winning. Two faced d*&*!ole.

Oh, we have all kinds of annual training courses we have to watch.
I loved bringing in Impus Major who, without seeing or hearing a single line of the training, got me 100% on the ethics quizzes.
Either the quizzes are WAY too easy, or I'm raising my boy right.
I figure it's got to be the former.
EDIT: And seriously, all the videos really need to say are, "OK, we know you sales reps are unscrupulous so-and-sos. Here's the stuff you can't pull because it'll get us fined or sued."
'Cause that's really what the training is all about...

I found out today our store is not closing (yet) due to the bankruptcy restructuring.
I was fairly confident we wouldn't but having confirmation is always nice. :-)
I'm glad that your store is still open, Cap. Four are closing in the Pittsburgh area. The two that I know about are the ones in Monroeville and Ross Park Mall, leaving only the one at Century III Mall, that I know of.

It's really amazing when you learn that, when it comes to "taste", you can't even explain your own.
As I posted a while back, I just couldn't get into Stranger Things because of the glacial pace of the show; I kept sitting there thinking, "I have better things to do than sit through this."
This was reinforced when the Impii watched the rest of Season 1 and declared it, "Meh. Pretty good. Not great."
So last night NobodysWife and I watched the first 3 episodes of The Ancient Magus' Wife, and I luuuuuurv it.
Why?
Because it's moving at a glacial pace, and is coming across as a classic Miyazaki or Studio Ghibli "slice of life" tale: There's no story so far per se; it's just a young woman reminiscing about her childhood. And it's amazing. All I want to do is curl up and binge watch the rest of the series. But things like work and Impus Major's finals just get in the way. Pesky life!
But it did set me to wondering: Why is it that I so love the gradual pace of Wife, but I couldn't stand it in Things? Am I more patient with anime because I expect a richer, more rewarding tale? Do I like the world and the characters more (I honestly think that's it)?
Just one more place where you take a moment to reflect on your reactions to things and think, "Wow. I'm really weird."
Addendum: On the other hand, I'm really disappointed that George R. R. Martin essentially said, "If you want to see how A Song of Ice and Fire ends, you're going to have to watch the show, because I've given up on writing the books."
I don't think the show is poorly done, but finding 90+ hours (or whatever) to watch a TV show is MUCH harder than finding 90+ hours to read a series of books. I'd just rather not watch the show, but I want to know how the story ends.
So maybe it's just an anime-vs-live action bias.
I just find it... curious.

condidering I hate the TV show, this is poor news indeed.

Hey, everyone. It seems that I've been placed in the "time-out" corner for several hours. I don't know what I did, but if I offended someone, I'm sorry. Aside from managing my play-by-post, I don't think I'll be on the forums very much for a while. Again, I'm sorry.
Well, I'm sorry you managed to offend someone. I don't think it was on FaWtL, though.
I'm sure I'd have a perma-ban by now if FaWtL had made any sense at all...

This may get me denied food, but that's how I felt about The Prisoner. I can watch any single episode and find it fascinating, but I've tried to slog my way through the entire series on three separate occasions and just cannot make myself do it.
The series is intentionally made to be unwatchable. If you can handle more than 2-3 episodes at once, you're a prime candidate for Call of Cthuluville.
When I originally got it on DVD, I think I could only manage 2 episodes at a time...
