I want to make an Aberrant bloodline Bloodrager that's just some poor ignorant farmer that was abducted by aliens.

Clothes are always optional when it comes to my characters.

Ditto. All my characters had some crafting skill in WoW. My Paladin was a Blacksmith, my Death Knight was an Engineer (for some reason the idea of this sinister necro-warrior being decked out in mechanical trinkets and riding around in a gyrocopter was the funniest thing to me), my Shaman was a Tailor, and my Mage was an Alchemist.

Some of the best and most relaxing days I remember in WoW were just flying around Northrend looking for mines.

Yep. That's pretty much my FF life. Wake up, grab coffee, sit down, make a list of the daily crafting stuff, go out and get the materials, craft it all, and turn it in. And it takes almost exactly 45 minutes, depending on the mats.

The Exchange

Priest – Tailor, Enchanter
Pally – Blacksmith, Miner
Shaman – Alchemist, Herbalism
Mage – Jeweller, Miner
Rogue –Engineer, Miner
Druid – Leather Worker, Skinner

In WOW. Yes I know there’s something wrong with a druid going around skinning animals…

But that really is like one of the best options as a tauren however I did herb and alchemy.

The Exchange

I did a troll shaman to troll people. What a troll really.

Holy gods that is INSANE. Grabbing a burning something-or-other from a wildfire, then flying it to another location, dropping it in the brush to start a new fire, then hanging around that fire to hunt critters that flee it is all kinds of ballsy.

And let's not kid around, those birds know what they're doing. You don't accidentally pick up a burning thing and then fly around with it unnoticed far enough to start a new fire!

F'in' Australian fauna, man.

It's safer than hunting in the woods and risking being attacked by a drop bear.

Troll hunter was my first toon. I downloaded a lazy rp mod that gave my type the accent. it was a lot of fun before the mod stopped working.

So Impus Major apparently wasn't eager enough for a new laptop to actually want to go through the work of setting it up. And if I'm going to shell out for a laptop instead of building a machine, he can darned well configure it himself.

Eh, for a gaming laptop you don't really need any migration. Just install drivers, antivirus/firewall, Chrome or whatever browser you intend to use, then Steam/GOG Galaxy/Uplay/Origins/whatever you have the most games on and then proceed to install the games in the order as you play them. It will fill itself soon enough without need for migration.

You want it to work?
Step 1. Pull the laptop out of bag and put it on Impus Major's desk.
Step 2. Take the old computer away, possibly disassembling it into pieces to avoid it catching fire.
Step 3. Impus Major wants to play a game (or do anything that involves computer)? He'll have to install/do it on the new rig.
Step 4. Done.

To be honest I don't exactly understand that anyway. I'd be "A new laptop! Turn it on! Turn it on! Yay!"

My main was a panda priest. You see, PP!

I actually prefer alliance to horde(see the lawfulness - I think horde appeals to chaotics), cos the characters look cooler. Horde tend to be on the big ugly side. But alas, BF playing horde, so suck it.

Now for easy of finding group I always clicked healer for LFG so it was until Level 80 that I actually first used shadow specialization.

I don't really top Dps charts having not really that good gear and also my computer is too laggy for me to do surrrender to madness properly(I know it's not the main dps thing now). But if u want me to hold dots on bad guys, I'm on it like a bulldog. I don't let dots drop.

Also had a busy day at work filing, so AFK.

BOO alliance BOOO!

For about a week in lick king my druid was number 1 on the server. Good times. Still quite the able tank and dps but I quit I may come back on the expansion but undecided.

well, YEAH, if you want your son to be SAFE (r than normal). But why do that when you can have the visceral satisfaction of watching me play Mechwarrior? Especially while reclining on a computer chair made out of red dragon hide?

Vidmaster7 and I are talking about World of Warcraft, an MMORPG. The lich king is from the Frozen Throne expansion.

Sorry. Wrath of the Lich King is probably from some other game, then.

Yay! Microsoft's Spectre/Meltdown patch bricks older AMD machines! Yay! 7-ish% of my company's computers just became large cube decorations because our Windows patching team doesn't actually test patches before unleashing them into production.

I overheard a couple talking about how the patch was absolutely hosing the guy's business (his company apparently had an Amazon Cloud account, and as they were trying to apply a mission-critical patch to their VM the brilliant Microsoft Updater kept saying, "You cannot apply this patch until you update your firmware." Kind of hard on a VM).

So it turns out I knew them (Albany), and the guy said, "Hey, NobodysHome, you work for Global Megacorporation! I'm sure this hit them hard. What did they do?"
"We had our own engineers build their own patch and deploy it internally to make sure Microsoft and/or Intel didn't destroy our business."

While Global Megacorporation is frequently the subject of my mockery, they're pretty freaking amazing at avoiding losses because of other people's mistakes.
They focus on losses based on their own mistakes.

To be fair, the majority of the machines affected at my Global Medium-Corp were old AMD Athlon CPUs. They probably should have been replaced years ago, but due to factors beyond our total control weren't allowed to replace. Only 1 of the affected computers is in my scope of support, and all it's doing is displaying stuff that's too small to read on a TV.

EDIT: The 70" TV is 12' up a wall and displaying output from a 15-yr-old app that doesn't respond well to display changes. It's all fairly small text and it's moving around the screen to provide "real time" situational updates. Nobody beyond the 2 closest desks can actually read any of it. I fought against putting it up in the first place based on "It's pointless", but I was overruled based on "It's shiny and clients like it."

So, yesterday our present for Hermione finally arrived, marking roughly 9 "business days" since I ordered it via "expedited" shipping. Since their site claimed "7-9 days", I suppose it's right within the realm of when they said it would show up. All those weekends and holidays really did add up, though.

The good news is that it seems to be a perfectly nice item, and it's even machine-washable! (We'll find out now, as I never let kids put on clothes that haven't been washed first.)

The better news is that we had a nice back-up thanks to certain relatives: We gave her a copy of, "Supergirl: Cosmic Adventures in the 8th Grade" signed by the author and artist. She seemed pretty happy with it, and now we have a birthday present for her!

In other news about other people's kids, Tiny Valeros earned some serious chops on Saturday. We've been giving away the kids' stuffed animals, and Impus Major took one look at "Tad" and decided he would be a great gift for Tiny V. On Saturday Impus Major was away and we gifted Tad to Tiny V. Cue Impus Minor fleeing into his room and bursting into tears -- apparently Tad was very important to him, for... er... reasons.
So NobodysWife told me, and I called lisamarlene out to the back porch to discuss the situation, and she brought Tiny Valeros out. I told him what was going on, and that I'd happily buy him a replacement, and I was very sorry.
He took it better than most adults I've ever met. "Well, if Impus Minor likes it, and it's making him sad, then we should give it to him."
The matter-of-fact way he said it was amazing. Then, once we'd decided, Tiny V decided that it was HIS job to pick up Tad, carry him into Impus Minor's room, and give it back to him.

So yeah, I was pretty much willing to get Tiny V almost anything he wanted off Amazon after that performance (but OK, $600-$800 for a stuffed animal? Seriously?!?!?!?), but after scrolling through a few pages (and lisamarlene vetoing a really hilarious 4' tall T-rex I really wanted to abuse her with), we found... Tad! A brand-spanking-new, absolutely-the-same-toy-woo-hoo duplicate!

So Tiny V gets Tad, Impus Minor gets to keep Tad, and Impus Major is clueless.

Goodness all around.

LOL. Welcome to my universe.

Well, I did get a 1:28 scale SPAD S.XIII kit. It's gonna have to sit on my lap for the 11 hour flight from Paris to Los Angeles for lack of anywhere to pack it, but damned if it wasn't the perfect souvenir. I explored the entire Great War Museum in Meaux (biggest collection of First World War artifacts in all of Europe), I enjoyed the First World War section of the French Army Museum, I bought a really good First World War book at a shop in Belgium, and I really wanted to buy a French airplane from the large stock of kits in the French Air and Space Museum Shop (the bulk of the kits weren't French planes). All that taken together, why not get that large sized kit for the greatest fighter design of the entire First World War, which just so happens to be a French plane?

Now I just need to lug it home.

2 people marked this as a favorite.

No, that one kit wasn't 75€. I also bought two Spitfires (one for me, one for my Dad), an F14 Tomcat, and a box of American paratroopers from the Normandy campaign (I got to board a C-47 Skytrain that dropped paratroopers, so that was a good souvenir, too).

I also need to update my PbP, and find pictures of a ton of individual lashunta and elves and probably some catfolk and wayangs and hobgoblins who are prophets of Kalistrade. It'd help if they're wearing diaphanous stuff in an fantasy-Arabian style. Also one of them needs to be thin and refined but aging catfolk, one needs to be a kobold (newly with wings, as he's secretly a doppleganger; admittedly he's going to change forms into a "perfect hybrid" form in three months), one needs to be a strong female elf, and one needs to be a hideous hairy lashunta dude with bad hygiene and manners (as well as a version where he's a bald lashunta-like bald satyr fey lord, and one where he's a young hobgoblin - his story is complicated), and a laid back servant/prophet half-lashunta/half-elf male, an extremely strict and rigid nogifsune (with distressingly delightfully fluffy tail), a fluttershy-like Lashunta, a female elf librarian, a human former barabarian (aging, but still ruggedly strong) who is an animal caretaker, an elf male astronomer, a lashunta male scribe, a civilized-looking Eloko female, an incredibly hot elf-lashunta-humanoid with purple-blue-teal hair and eyes (and is a dragon with those scales - a dozen similar but unique looking individuals, preferably even split of sexes, gold-flecked/tinted pewter or copper skin with gorgeous ebony-specific features), a group of Biloko and a group of them that is variant with bugbear-size/design (all of which dress more like Arabic goblins), a two-headed small-sized vicious gray shota beast (with lots more one-headed shota beasts), some cooshee hounds, sort of cute but smaller troll hounds, and pretty much all of my NPCs in Tzasis.

I am in a foul mood for no particular reason at all. And the loud couple behind me are not helping. You know, NH, I'm pretty sure I don't like the game you've put in my head. If we eventually meet in person we're going to have words over this one. This hurts.
