Ancient city found by archaeologists.
Also, I forgot to mention this before, but this was awesome! Yay, math! Helping people figure stuff out!
Edit: well, it's not that exciting…*Gets dressed*

Yay rules
Rules are your friend.
Rules and edible mould are your friends.
Rules, edible mould, spiders you can ride on, emo rangers, poisoned relatives, cubic zircona encrusted netherwear, hideous tortures and sooper dooper swords that disintegrate when exposed to sunlight are all your very, very special friends.

I have decided that any thread in the rules forum that has the word "adamantine" in its title is going to be just as bad as a fallen paladin or alignment thread.
I give you Improvised Adamantine Clubs, which is shaping up to be just as dumb as the Adamantine Dagger thread.
I can't believe I'm saying this, but I really wish my user base would have some IT problems right now. The only cure for this stupidity is a different brand of stupidity.

So there was a massive police incident, including fatally shooting a suspect in his car as he was driving, at the exit for our school this morning. No idea WTF happened. There are two helicopters hovering over the schoolyard at this moment. And because this is the Bay, the kids are going about their day as if everything is perfectly normal.

I am reading that thread and laughing and crying at the same time. Where does CY derail it?

Apparently he was a suspect in a homicide, and after the CHP threw spike strips across the freeway to stop his car, he got out and started shooting at the police before the police shot him.
"Fifty or sixty shots" according to some news reports.

I made a Naked Durgon Alias in anticipation of being at the top of the page (its all very exciting)
Finally the avatar is actually a Durgon cause you know... they're naked, so they look like a Durgon.
It made sense in my head. Although it implies all my avatars are Dragons disguised as Pharasma or her followers. Which I didn't know until now. But I'm willing to accept it.

I prefer the Elder Scrolls generally, for one I find post nuclear apocalypse both depressing generally but also a little to close to home.
Also it kinda necessitates dull landscapes and grotesque creatures, which bore more than horrify me.
Being a kewl magical wizard dude is far more of a fantasy if you will (for me at least), plus you can have magnificent beautiful animals and fabulous magic. Summoning lightning from the sky is just more appealing that worrying about radiation poisoning for me.

used to tiptoe around crackheads on the way to school. The first naked woman i saw was a crackhead climbing out of a window having stolen a cable box. Kids are resilient, after a while you get used to things.

I was shovelling snow in the back of a strip mall at two in the morning, and this guy emerges from a garage of this house behind the strip mall dragging a new snow blower. So this guy asks us if we want to buy a snow blower, of course I say no, and he walks off with the snow blower.
Not even five minutes later we're sitting in the truck in front of the strip mall so I can fill out my paperwork and I look up and there's the guy, running in the middle of the street, still dragging the snow blower with a police car following him with its lights on.

OK. Blood is boiling.
Got an e-mail from the school district notifying me that they have a $3 million budget shortfall. Immediately looked to salaries.
Highest-paid teacher in the entire school district? $91,000
Administrators? $150,000 - $220,000
I can tell you RIGHT NOW where you need to make some budget cuts, buster!
EDIT: And let's be blunt: If you're in charge of the money, you're paying yourself more than twice the highest-paid student-facing employee, and you can't balance the budget, then you aren't earning your keep. At all.

Don't get me started. The head of our school lives in Hillsborough. One of *those* houses.
Out of curiosity, were they asking for donations, or letting you know there would be program cutbacks, or both?

Believe it or not, it was a "Budget Survey" that basically said, "We're $3 million short this year, so:
In short, "In spite of the fact that you're paying me $200k a year, I can't actually make any decisions. YOU make the decisions, AND do the legwork FOR me!"
I swear, once I'm not overwhelmed with gaming, home repair, and kid-raising, I'm going to offer to be school superintendent at HALF the current salary, with the only stipulation being that no one else in the district who isn't in front of a classroom at least 20 hours a week can make more than me, overtime included.

Believe it or not, it was a "Budget Survey" that basically said, "We're $3 million short this year, so:
Do you want to cut it all at once, or spread out over 3 years?
Where do you think we could find the money?
What evidence do you have to support these cuts?
What programs do you want to see kept?"
In short, "In spite of the fact that you're paying me $200k a year, I can't actually make any decisions. YOU make the decisions, AND do the legwork FOR me!"
