I want to see Civil War at some point. I want to an awful lot.

Also, I am very nocturnal. When left entirely to my own devices, I consistently wake around noon or shortly thereafter, and start to shut down somewhere 6 AM. It's surprisingly consistent.

Pea Bear was super excited when she saw it this morning, she gave me a big hug, and immediately declared tonight to be movie night!!.

Not to invoke/evoke/provoke the "Fury of the Flaming Freehold Freestyle" (Bikes), but if we're gonna "nekkid" anything from MCinU, make my vote for Winter Soldier.

Waiting for my flight to the magical land of Minnesota. I expect nonstop shenanigans when I arrive.

This after staying up until midnight packing. I'll never get this whole "prepare early" thing Cyz keeps telling me about. Watching the Cruiserweight Classic with my new apprentice until 10pm certainly didn't help either.

Whedon had nothing to do with it, doesn't even have a producer credit. It's a Russo Brothers film, and it's almost too good... it makes Age of Ultron look bad by comparison. It makes X-Men: Pockyclipse look even more bloated and dumb, and BvS:DoJ... it makes you wish DC would turn their films over to Marvel.

I was referring to the nekkid slaad aspect, but yes, it leaves many of its rival films from this year in the dust.

I am with you. I have gotten better, though. I no longer grouse if I have to be up at 8:00. (Yes, I frequently get up earlier than that. I just don't like it.) I used to be more of a 10:00 guy.

That said, my coworkers know not to approach me with difficult questions before 11:00.

True, that. In fact, the only frame of reference I find even moderately agreeable. Breakfast food before bed is completely acceptable, too.

Things NobodysHome does not understand:

  • Robocalls. They aren't 100% free; they cost some teensy amount of money to have the computer running, the internet line, etc. This indicates that there are still people on this planet who respond to these calls and give them money. Who are these people? Who hasn't taught them that, "The moment you realize you're talking to a robot, it's time to hang up?" (No offense towards Chris, of course.)
  • PCs who believe that the be-all and end-all of combat is to throw up smoke clouds, fog clouds, and other vision-impairing effects, when most of the rest of the party needs to see to be effective. We had nightmares in our Skull & Shackles game because the now-deceased druid dropped Obscuring Mist on every combat, preventing us from receiving any ranged buffs and giving our fighters a 20% miss chance, which hurt us much more than it hurt the enemy. Now in the kids' game they gave a necromancer a handy smoke cloud to hide in whenever the melee fighters get to close to him, which he can also keep between him and the ranger, and they're discussing next week's tactics and talking about further decreasing visibility.
It seems to be from the ostrich school of thought. "If we can't see him, he can't hurt us, right?"

  • I dunno; I've just only seen limiting the enemy's visibility useful as a defensive tactic, not an offensive one. Maybe the kids just aren't doing it right...

I still remember getting up at 5:00 am (a perfectly reasonable time, in my mind), only to find my brother getting himself a "dinner" of chili and beer after an all-night coding session.

Obscuring sight can be very effective tactic against casters, though heavily reliant on their choice of spells. Spells with target entry can't be cast on a target you can't see or touch.

Of course in case of casters that rely on area effects, summons, or have other senses (one casting of echolocation solves the problem until silenced), obscuring lines of sight is, er, less than appropriate tactics, and easily suicidal...

    I'm getting robo calls recently!

They're threatening me with legal action and notifying me with vague threats that receiving this is definitely legitimate and I totally have to call them back right away, or else! I know it's legitimate, because it's a recorded message that has been cut-pasted from a woman's random words (like Shatner, only much worse - you know the kind), so clearly, it's definitely not a super-hilarious scam!

Man, I'm terrified that she'll totally have to allow the, "full. weight. of. what? is. to. befall! [me]" is going to come!

    :O

I am not in the least bit frightened. I really feel badly for any innocent people, however, and am rather angry at these cretins for taking advantage of those who do get fooled. Evil people stealing from the innocent and unaware. >:(

It's kind of sad, in a way. I mean, funny, yeah, but sad, too. Clever, a bit... but mostly sad.

Humorous: I'm pretty sure this is from the same fake Dell people that used to spam call me. This number, too, is from California, and it makes sens that they'd use a robot to disguise an accent. Aaaaaaaaalso, they finally called me back (took them forever after I annoyed the daylights out of 'em), and I had an actual honest chat with the guy trying to scam me - Inlet him know that I understood that he was just trying to make money and, as a guy who lived as a stay-at-home with only a single income (that of a teacher) I understood it could be hard to get by and support the family - especially if you had people you care about with medical bills or similar. That can drive people. I get that.

But I also explained that trying to scam people this way was evil. The only people it worked on we're the innocent and vulnerable - the very ones who could not afford to be suckered into such a scam. I proceeded to [redacted for FaWtL religious rules]. At some point toward the end he hung up. Shortly thereafter I started Decieving these automated calls. I really don't think this is coincidence.

Here's hoping I do some good with what I've done...

"[redacted] planted, [redacted] watered, but [redacted] gets the increase <collects the harvest>"

I may have only planted a seed, or maybe only watered - but maybe I helped. We shall see. Or maybe I never will in this lifetime. Whether I do or not is irrelevant. Here's hoping they find a better way to live life.

Brilliant scene in Summer of '92:

Yugoslavia has been tossed out of the European Championships due to the embargo against them and the hastily assembled Danish players who're replacing them are arriving from their various vacations.

One of them, John 'Faxe' Jensen, is arguing with his girlfriend who's upset they won't be able to spend the vacation together, and at one point he ends up lodged in the door of their (fairly modest as he works in Denmark and this is pre big-TV-money wages) car as he's trying to get his bag out as she's raising the window to it. And this is of course the moment when the team's superstar, Peter Schmeichel, turns up in his luxury car, with resulting press followers and autograph hunters in his wake as 'Faxe' is hanging in the car window.

I usually just hang up, but sometimes I decide to "play". NobodysWife's favorite (which is probably upthread a few thousand posts) was when one called her, then she responded, "Oh, my husband handles all our IT stuff. Let me hand you over to him."
Undaunted, the poor man started his spiel about being from Microsoft Technical Support and there being a problem with my computer.

You know, when someone says, "This person manages my IT", you'd think it would be a teensy red flag.

When I listened politely for 30 seconds, then responded, "OK, let's play this game, <expletive>! What's my IP address?" NobodysWife nearly did a spit take all over the table.

She hadn't expected me to be quite THAT rude.

And yeah, he hung up on me.

Well I have three games on there, food for thought as the holidays approach.

Trying to decide whether I want to get a new 360 or suck it up and pounce on the first or second good sale (when I have money) I see.

Ugh... I got stuck in a "random encounter loop" in Zozo.

So, I walked in there, fully expecting it to be a cakewalk. Then I get jumped by some hard rando mobs. I fight my way through it, and resolve to be more careful.

I got another nasty surprise when I discovered that the random encounter rate is through the roof. I even got jumped in shops, which I was really, really not used to. Still, I made it through.

And then a hill giant popped up, killed everybody in the party except Cyan, and I had no Phoenix Down.

So I got stuck in this loop where I fight through a random encounter, get killed by the next one, restart, get killed again, restart, get killed again...

I really don't want to lose 7 hours of progress here, guys :/
