Lesson 16, in particular.

I think it parallels why I am so unforgiving of Disney for abominating Star Wars like they did.

And that sense of risk-taking also informs my Pathfinder/3.x playstyle, too.

I'd chase after you, but my knee isn't what it used to be, and then I'll give up the high ground of my porch, and you never know when those damn teenagers will start loitering on my yard.

Besides, looking at your attire, I'd say you have your own age related issues to work through. :-D

The Hobbit was the book that sparked my interest in fantasy and sci fi. If not for it I may never have discovered many geek things and likely wouldn't be on here.

Azure Bonds for me.

I won't lie, I got it for the cover.

But I absolutely love that book.

Do you want to give the gist, I refuse to read or look at anything Magic related, which I hate so very much. So very much indeed.

Thanks for the welcomes back, all of those who gave me one! Also forgot a fun side-note for my trip away. Get to run two Kingmaker games, one Good aligned, one Evil aligned. The differences so far have been... amusing, to say the least. Mainly, it comes down to the classes on Team Good and Team Evil respectively.

Team Good:

- Tiefling Bloodrager (Infernal Bloodline)
- Catfolk Bolt Ace
- Human Paladin
- Human Cavalier

Team Evil:

- Tiefling Witch
- Tiefling Cleric
- Gnome Mesmerist
- Human Court Bard

Unfortunately, team good has been on hiatus for a while due to conflicting work schedules, so they're still stuck in the beginning of Rivers Run Red, while Team Evil is about to start looking into Varnhold. However, the main difference is that Team Evil just doesn't fight anything unless it can stack the odds in its favor. And when they do stack the odds in their favor? Well... Let's just say everything falls asleep and then meets a terrible end, and leave it at that.

According to Rosewater, Lesson #16 is: Be more afraid of boring your players than challenging them.

And as heavily invested as I have been in the Star Wars mythos for as long as I have, the only challenge that "Episode VII" (note the 'bunny ears', indicative of it actually *not* being what it calls itself) presented was: why did I need to spend $xx.xx for them to show me this again? Tropes are one thing; bad varnish jobs are another.

Also -- you hate Magic so very much? Why?

It wouldn't matter. I'd rather die poor then make a single penny from playing Magic.

The fact that I will in fact most likely die poor is entirely unrelated.

If anyone here prays...I'm having a really bad day. Week. Month. Three months.

I don't have insurance. I have bipolar. I lost a job and haven't gotten a new one in over a month. I keep having infections. I can't see doctors without going into debt. My wife makes too much to get free help. I'm kind of scared about my future.

I kind of am at a loss of what to do. I get one step forward and two steps back. It's...disconcerting.

It's difficult to do what I know is right, to try and remain positive, whwn so much negative keeps happening. I realize it could be worse, but that doesn't seem to help. I'm having a really bad day.

I just wanna thank people for all the responses and those who PM'd. It means a lot. It really, really does.

I would get into details, but I think that might make me feel worse. I am going to job fair in about...twenty minutes. Hopefully I do well! Then, this afternoon, the doctors at the medical trial I'm going through are going to see if the infections I have are related to the medication and possibly lowering my immune response to let something I've had before come back. At least it's seeing a doctor for free; even if they can't give me a RX, they can point me in directions of who can, and give me a head start on diagnoses.

So...there's that good news.

You guys are awesome! FaWtL is the ice cream in the chocolate ice cream cake of Paizo. (I would've said frosting, but frosting isn't as good as ice cream.)

So... a giant quasi-nazi-aesthetic fat guy runs a secret conspiracy to confuse and beleaguer world leaders while bombing first-world countries and destroying monuments with his super-army; thwarting his army gives him his bombs back and restores the monuments, but not other living places; punching him from space causes him to turn into money which rains down and fixes everything in the world he broke.

Got it!

We got seven and a half inches of rain overnight. Flash flood warnings blaring at 11:30 and everything.

I'm genuinely afraid of what that will do to the Little Tomato Plant of Horrors.

Managed to fall asleep last night out of pure exhaustion. Still tired. Attempts to nap are a failure. So I get another day on too little sleep and if I don't manage to totally wear myself out most probably another night like the one before last where I get to see all the hours on the clock as they tick by. Awesome! Sigh. I already miss the constant dull ache I could sleep through. This sharp tingling throbbing is driving me fracking nuts. It's an ankle. It hurts. Fine. I can deal with that. But does it really have to do it in such a way that I can't ever sleep? I thought all those naps last week were for healing. Nope. That was preemptive sleep. Apparently. :/

Sorry for whining. I whine here so I don't bug people in real life. Gotta have somewhere to complain. :)

NobodysHome's random thought of the day:
(1) No group (that I know of) in history has self-identified itself as "evil"
(2) The vast majority of cartoon villains (Skeletor, Maleficent, etc.) self-identify as "evil", and constantly call upon the "Forces of Evil"

Are we doing our kids a disservice by pretending that evil people will always self-identify themselves?

(I despised Captain Planet with a passion rarely seen in my feelings towards cartoons, but I did appreciate that the villains were simply trying to "terraform" Earth into a more polluted world more suited to their species. At least THAT motivation makes sense...)
