Six months total recovery, but I am closing in on the end of the red zone (next week).

You see, normally, I'd get all up in arms about something like this, involving the words "selling out" or some such. Honestly, though, this... is really cool, actually. And without even having opened it, I know that the Beginner Box (nickname: Black Box?) is going to be light-years ahead of Wizards' Red Box. I may even buy a copy myself. Once I actually have money.

What is it about funerals? Every time someone dies, it seems like the reptiles really start to come out of the rug.

As a matter of fact yes it is. Many places do "in-school" suspension where you get to sit in an empty classroom all day with various teachers rotating shifts. You get to "study" all day.

Some school districts have no limits on in-school suspension. This terrifies me.

Sorry I didn't see this earlier, E7.

Spoiler:
It sounds to me like she is in such a condition that even asking her what she wants is pointless? Barring that, it sounds like the only reason for her to be there is for appearances' sake in the minds of certain family members, and so it is for their needs, only. Any idea:
1. How superficial these needs are on their parts?
2. How much risk does her presence do to the dignity of the proceedings?
3. How much risk her presence might present to her own health?
4. Within the scheme of how much you guys have to fight with them about, how much this one part of the battle is worth?

A parting observation: One thing I've had to remind myself over the years at funerals is that even crazy family members mourn, in their own way, no matter how freakin' crazy or incomprehensible those ways are.

Isn't school just about over for you? Most schools here are done. My son goes to a charter school and has the "priviledge" of having school until the 2nd of June.

Just not sure what the point of 2 days suspension is when it's the end of the school year anyway.

When I was in high school, we didn't get cut loose until July first.

Good morning FAWLTIES

Its cold bleak and miserable here in Sydney (This is Melbourne weather and belongs back down in the Emo Hipster Capital of Australia not here in sunny Sydney).

The Queenslanders won the first game of the State of Origin Rugby League series. (The best players are selected from the teams to play for the state that they were born in or first played Rugby League in). State of Origin I highlights

My youngest is chucking a nanna (tantrum) because she cant find her wellies (gumboots).

Silverchair have gone into permanent hiatus because making music together has become unfun.

Other than that things are good.

Welcome to the System. Creating bricks for the Wall since 1952.

I always thought the classic WTF policy was to give out a day or two suspension for skipping school.

"Wait! Let me get this straight. My 'punishment' for skipping school which I hate is to get two days off from school which I hate? Awesome!!"

There is a whole series of warnings and procedures to be followed first, but yes, a child can be suspended from school here. (He talked back, yelled threateningly at the teachers and threw a massive tantrum in which he flailed and kicked with no regard for who or what was around him. Par for the course, this is not the first time. Normally he'd get a one day suspension for this, but they decided to be extra strict this time for some unknown reason.) On the day of one of these incidents it's necessary to get him out of the school, yes. After that, it's counterproductive and causes further disruption in routine which leads to further stress, and so on and so forth.

I hope it's not retaliation, but I'm not optimistic. :(
