Work at St Leonards, so about a 40 min drive.

The NRMA guy was there within 15 mins, and took about 5 mins to change it over with the spare. Then I hit all the school zones going down the Pacific Highway, so the drive took me about 30 mins longer than ususal.

Liberty's Edge

Eek, peak Pacific Highway traffic, not fun. I used to work at St Leonards (well, Crows Nest, but the St Leonards end), but came from the other direction ... and caught the train or bus, each of which had its own set of inherent dramas.

5) Evil plan to steal dragon's hoard which will ultimately fail in misery.

Now that that's covered... I find my time on the boards getting shorter. Must be this new "girlfriend" thing I'm trying out. The kids say it will make me cooler. :D

Congrats!

I might as just something to have, no way I'd actually read it to the kids... no matter how badly I might want to. ;)

got a call today for an interview tomorrow. Enjoyed fighter practice tonight also. The interview is for the place that I applied earlier this year for a barista job, now it is for the actual convenience store. Hopefully I can do good this time around.

Yo BT! Seriously! You gotta stop feeding the trolls. Let that Governement Folly thread die the death it so richly deserves, and the trolls will have one less excuse to poison the off Topic Section.

I appreciate the feed back, but you know I can't let my core issue lay dormant. I'll fight my fights for individual liberty there rather than drag it here, but I won't quit fighting that fight until they plant my old ass in the dirt.

I try to be civil and logical, but it's just not in me to walk away from this fight.

That's a big part of why I keep the thread alive; if I can just get a few folks to question the status quo before I'm done on this earth I might have made some small difference. I might be buried and forgotten by most soon, but at least I tried.

I am what I am.

Take care.

That's absolutely asinine! Poor Bryce. That's one of those situations that would prompt me to make a very direct and directive phonecall to the principal, demanding an interview with that particular person.

Backlash for demanding that your child get the attention and specific educational benefits he needs to succeed? It'd better not be...just remind them that his academic success is directly tied to their job performance...school administrators AND teachers...by LAW! (Whether you agree with the NCLB laws or not, it's leverage in this case.)

If she's just too much of a b***h to demonstrate patience and self control when presented with a child who obviously has special needs, then she needs to be ... calibrated.

Sorry...this riled me up. Some people need a kick in the teeth.

If only. Alas, she and the principal think alike on these matters. And they're being pissy cause we make them do their job and go over their heads to get things done when we have to. It's especially sad because these people can not only overshadow but often undo a lot of the good done by those educators he interacts with who really do go above and beyond to help him and would be able to do their jobs better if the administrators would get out of the way.

In other words, yes, some people need a kick in the teeth. :)

Ugh. Stupid people are stupid.

We're dealing with a minor problem, now, ourselves. We have one teacher (the girls are in separate classes), who seems to frequently forget that that Tasha has an IEP. She's rather strict, which is okay, but her modus operandi is to send kids to "the center" during recess when they forget to do or turn in work. Tasha got sent to the center today because she didn't finish an assignment...she was supposed to do a "retell" of a story. She was reading a book with was rated for 2 grade levels higher than her class, but got distracted and didn't finish the retell. The teacher sent her to the center...completely ignoring the fact that Tasha's IEP specifically states that she is NOT to be sent to "the center" when things like that happen. Unless she's misbehaving, she needs to be able to go out for recess, because otherwise she can't sit still and focus during class.

Anyway...enough ranting.

It's nice to be back in the Deep FAWTL. Sorry I've missed so many of you.

(He never has before.) I could hear him crying hysterically in the background. I would really like to b#~$~ slap that horrible woman. I won't, but I want to.

Actually quite a few teachers are beaten by parents. For the most part, and speaking form my experience in the educational system, they deserve it.
