I had a international training the whole week,

Question:
If you put 7 Germans 7 Hungarians and 3 Spaniards into one room, how long will it take until the first conversation about Ferenc Puskas ?

answer:
3 hours

Ferenc who?:
Puskas was one of the greatest soccer players of all time, he was hungarian, played in Sapin for Real Madrid and was the big star of the 1954 world cup but lost the final to Germany who one its forst world cup, hence the interest by all three countries, despide not one of the seminar participants had been born while Puskas was active

Aeglos, you reminded me...my daughter's current plan is to major in computer science and minor in German, so she can move to Germany after college and start a career there.

The World Cup. And Sweden vs USA to be more exact. Which starts at 2:00 Swedish time - so I'll miss the second half due to having to go to work.

Also the Jets.

Winnipeg or New York?

Never heard about the New York ones.

They're an (American) football team.

Spent 8 hours today helping run 400 feet of wire to a swimming pool light system through three runs of kinked pipe under the baking hot sun, then spent another 2 hours in a sweltering hot machine room flipping breakers and trying not to touch the high voltage lines, and then played a 30-minute set in a jam-packed, poorly-ventilated basement. I think I've lost 20 pounds in sweat alone.

Two courses and a lots of bag of trash-quality clothing gone.
I should go and help in sorting things in the other room but I am barely functioning due to exposure to heat outside. I need to cool down.

Credit for this one goes to Patrick Curtin who wanted undead creatures and had some neat illustrations to go with them.

We need to work more to prepare the room for their moving in. Her boyfriend couldn't join us to help because he was at work. And he may possibly join us tomorrow because he's just after damaging an ankle and it is more important that he does not strain his ankle and gets better before we will be moving big things: bed, fridge, washing machine.

To-do List:

  • Finish piece for Wayward Rogue Games
  • Finish 15 pregenerated characters for Interface Zero 2.0 playtest document
  • Finish piece for Legendary Games
  • Make pasta salad for dinner
  • Finish pulling weeds in backyard/driveway

I'd say "go big or go home," except that I'm already doing this at home, so...go big or...not, I guess.

Whiskey and cider at 9 AM on the other hand...

I think "Defiance" just one-upped "Game of Thrones."

At football, presumably, and not Tossing The Haddock or Halloumi Wrestling.

And Crysis stopped to run after recent Windows update... Tells me to "upgrade" to supported system. Bleh. Is that another game that I am not supposed to ever finish?

My daughter has been getting into Percy Jackson and the Red Pyramid.

Anyway, yesterday she says in the matter of fact wait did she just insult me manner that all kids perfect by age 11 "I'm just seeing if I was a Demigod, which Greek deity would be my parent"

Five minutes later she emerged from her room, answer in hand "Athena!" She says proudly

To which my reply was "are you trying to imply that your incredibly meticulous and stubborn mother is the Goddess of Strategy and warfare"

Bonus points if the mom plays any of: strategy games, sim games, economy games.

Well she is one of the people that has to figure out how to implement all the new laws and statutes for her particular branch of government and she was fond of Warcraft (before WoW) and SimCity.... come to think of it it's been at least a decade since she's played a video game

Went to see grandma and help with emptying her apartment. I got some wine glasses, knives, christmas ornaments, and a feeling of mild depression. She's always been very active - even when her sight went she'd still make bread for all the relatives - and now she can't even leave her room without help. :(

I have been having an outstanding time in Fallout, the loot I found in Marigold Station and some monument allowed me to go full on Rampage at Paradise Falls, I went in loaded up with Frag Grenades and a combat shotgun and laid waste, it was one of my most bad ass video game rampages ever!
