Ugh. I went to bed past 1 AM just to wake up past 5 AM when my brain decided that it's an excellent moment to think of Toril's theology and cosmology...

I will be sleepy on today's D&D session.

I have a great thread for dumping those ideas into, if they're not letting you sleep until you do! :D

More about Shar:
Shar actually loves Selune, but it's a selfish, possessive love. Selune loves Shar but she also loves the world, which delights her, and she is probably unable to understand that the world is antithetical to Shar and causing her hurt. Shar does not understand that. She envies the love that Selune has for the world, and she feels that either Selune mocks her, or that Selune loves the torment that world inflicts on Shar. Shar is probably unable to go beyond their selfish point of view and understand that someone can have place for more than one love, or that one can love different things, or that Selune might be unable to understand that the world hurts Shar.

And specially for Freehold: in my games the in-world art depicting Shar and Selune together is strongly erotic—either explicit presentation of them in lovers embraces, or depictions that blur the line between struggle, aggression, and lust.

The sun's sword lies heavy in her heart. Her blood nourishes the ground, and life springs forth. Lo, for Winter does lie slain, and Spring's hand rests easy on the hilt of the blade. Let the old year die, and the new live, until it too has grown old, bitter, and cold, to be slain in turn. Thus it has always been, thus shall it ever be. Slumber quiet, Winter of the old year. Spring has come at last, and the world lives for your death.

... now I kind of want to rewrite the Winter goddess in my group's homebrew into a cycle-of-seasons goddess, who grows up through spring and summer, gives birth to herself in autumn harvest, and slays her older self at the end of winter to bring in the new year. On the other hand, I kind of like the way the Winter goddess is now, and our Fire goddess already has associations with Spring and Summer.

EMARI:
Titles: The Bleak Lady, The Tundra Ghost, Kiss of Frost, Blizzard-Born Maiden

Alignment: True Neutral
Aspect: Creation
Portfolio: Winter, Cold, Ice, Wilderness, Predators, Extreme Regions and the creatures that dwell in them
Worshipers: Frostfell dwellers, Ice creatures, some Winter fey, Frost Giants, Hunters, Intelligent Predators
Cleric Alignments: Any
Domains: Air, Animal, Darkness, Ice, Time, Water, Weather, Wind
Favored Weapon: Longaxe
Holy Symbol: Frost-coated blue lily
Denizens of the cold regions of Finiens - the Ice Claw of northern Stormwind and the southernmost regions of Wachara and Teremvor - universally recognize and respect Emari as the mistress of those bitter, frigid places, no matter what mortal holds the respective crown. Despite her widespread acknowledgement, Emari is rather young as an Avatar, and far from the first to hold the ascension of Winter. Her relative youth is reflected in her manifestations, where she generally appears as an ice-skinned girl in her middle teens, her race obscured somewhere between human, elven, planetouched, and fey, bare-footed and garbed only in a dark, long, flowing shawl.

While not Evil, the Bleak Lady is of the mindset that the strong survive and the weak will perish, and that efforts made to aid them are wasted potential that should be better spent in other pursuits. If the unworthy wish to survive, they must make themselves strong. Predator and prey is the natural way of the world; the world is ruled by predators, and all who are not predators are prey. The wild creatures of nature, and most notably those of the Tundra Ghost's demense, know this law and live it daily; only intelligent mortals, thinking themselves above nature, attempt to subvert it, an action of foolish pride according to Emari.

Optimism: downloading Farcry 2 before finishing Farcry 1. I am still at a very tough fight at the start of the last zone, that has no way of using stealth, deception, sniping, or even running around enemy encampment to take off smaller groups of enemies.

Spoiler:
Because it is fight in narrow corridor with a few columns to hide behind and a lots of mercs coming after you. Including a guy or two with rocket launchers making sticking to the walls a way to get oneself killed. Of course not sticking to the walls is a way to get yourself killed by mercs with regular guns.
