Trying to pick up the collab novel Scint and I started a few years ago (the novel's GoogleDoc itself is dated August 2012, and various short stories, brainstorming docs, and other periphery as far back as that January). Majorly short on any writing getting done way too much, not just lately but period. Just looking back on all that... three years almost, seriously? Makes me kind of sad to see it's taken this long and it's still not done, despite all the major, major progress we made on it in the first few months of work.

I've been working! And then you got me stuck on NWN!

So: Beshaba. The Maid of Misfortune. The Doom Lady. The Scourge of Ill-luck.

... she is a terribly under-imaged as a deity of FR. I'm, like, finding the same four images of her (and one of those is dubious). It may well be that my Google-fu is failing me, but I kind of need to have some images of her (decent ones) so that when...

In my game:
... my player meets her, and learns that she, in fact, is Beshaba, who is enacting a complicated scheme to bring complete disaster to no less than four other gods (with the current "Beshaba" running around actually being twelve other non-murderous ice assassins she's made of herself...

... but the only official image I can find is that one. You know. The image. (It's from Faiths and Pantheons.)

Somehow, it's... just not inspiring.

Can you guys find good, strong images?

Also: Kiarensalee, Shar, Bane, Moander, and Tymora, if possible. I can find tons of Eilistraee, and Lolth ('cause, "hot drow", I suppose).

Also, is there anyone who can give me a summary of what happened in the written work Tymora's Luck (most notably: the parts including Beshaba and Tymora, and the attempt to reunite them to make Tyche, etc.)?

Thanks, FAWTLites!

EDIT: Any other gods of bad luck or misfortune that you guys know of? I know Zyphus, but I don't really relate him that well to Beshaba.

Beshaba's a fun deity. I actually play a Theurge who worships her in NWN. (But that's a secret ;) ) I'll see what I can find when I get home - it might not be official, but I might be able to find something fitting as a substitute.

I hate forgotten realms. With a passion. I would wipe it from the face of creation if I could.

That said, one of my former players played a cleric of beshaba. And I wuv her.

You're going to need to give me a better description of what you're looking for. I take it you dislike the early 00's sendup of Beshaba in 80's torn up dress fashion wear, which is fine. However, remember that "Beshaba got the looks and Tymora gets the love"- you aren't going to get many good pictures of Beshaba because she wasn't depicted until 3rd ed anyway(the only picture I have of any Beshaba related is in the 2nd ed clerics and fighters of the realms book, and that's of a wormluck in her service) .Last I heard she and her sister were turned into one form in Tyche again, but that may be a 4th ed heresy.

That'd be correct. I haven't looked up to see if that carried over to 5e or not, but in 3rd (and presumably PF games based on 3E FR) they're still separate.

See, this is information that I was lacking.

I've seen many images of other deities in older editions but, since I wasn't into published settings at that time, I haven't seen 'em outside of random runs-across on the 'net.

To be clear: I don't hate that picture (and I totally get the send-up). I was just looking for something more dramatic for the idea of displaying the... "moment".

I know there was an old Novel or Story called Tymora's Luck that was about the fusion of the two "sisters", but I know little more than that, and was curious.

I really, really liked the feats from Icewind Dale 2. Would that WotC went in that direction with tabletop. I'm considering just filing off the serial numbers and putting similar stuff in Freehold! The Saga of Wune.

I would make Beshaba and Tymora twins. Twin-twins, hard if at all recognizable. With even their avatars, manifestations and copies looking alike, even if they don't want to.

For Moander I wouldn't use humanoid appearance at all. For me it is an elder deity that never comprehended humanoids. The closest it would take would be humanoid-shaped topiary or particularly huamnoidish shambling mound.

Shar would be a pale goth lady wearing black and deep blue. Occasionally appearing with jet black skin as well. I have some expended ideas about her, including reasoning for her desire to unmake the existence.

I haven't thought about Kiarensalee, despite my Faerun's drows having much more varied religion than base-line FR (in my games Lolth only completely dominates Menzoberranzan and subservient settlements, with various level of influence in other drow cities, with large population of drows being Golarion-like demon-worshippers, some worshipping other drow gods, and some even worshipping Shar and weirder eldritch deities).

At least it was almost 10 degree C so I could walk instead of going by tram back from gaming club meeting.

I just heard back from Paris, and it looks like the cuttlemoggie (and the mudhopper) didn't make it in (entirely my fault for not integrating them better into Ustalav). So for anyone interested, here is the cuttlemoggie, which could easily be related to Badger's regenbogentodschmetterlingkätzchen.

Also, I have vision of quite explicitly erotic image of Shar and Selune intertwined in embrace being a popular painting/sculpture to represent time before the creation of the world.

Okay.

Okay.

There are FOUR things I love about the Forgotten Realms.

Thing 1- Wizards and Rogues of the Realms/Warriors and Priests of the Realms. This is one of my favorite "brown books" from the 2nd ed era. It was just astonishingly well written, and a great look at kits that continues to inspire me all the way through "Pathfinder Edition" today. The power level of these books encouraged me to look at classes differently and give everyone a role without giving them a job. Does that make sense?

Thing 2- The work of Paul S. Kemp. This man is one of my favorite authors, and I loved the character of Erevis Cale. Everyone in the books, actually. I really like Dravesk Riven, and he has become the picture of "acceptable NE PC with elements of redemption". The combat was excellent, the background and setting and individual cities portrayed are fan-flipping-tastic. I remain interested in sifting through current FR stuff to find out what has happened to his son.

Thing 3- The work of Richard Lee Byers. Even moreso than Paul S. Kemp. Richard Lee Byers' work is something that I have fallen in love with. You think Mikaze has a thing for Distant Worlds? I will bend Richard Lee Byers' work over the nearest table and rut with it no matter where I encountered it. As much as I loved Dorn Graybrook and his band of dragon-hunters in The Rage/The Rite/The Ruin trilogy, the Unclean/Undead/Unholy trilogy and the Brotherhood of the Griffon are my true favorite. The resulting Brotherhood of the Griffon pentad made me dimly interested in 4th ed. That's right. The world he showed was in ruin, and yet had survived, and even included other characters that had survived the spellplague or whatever it is, with a minor character from the Priests series shown as a queen in this new world was just enticing, as was the fact that the vampiric smoke drake Brimstone from the first trilogy was still alive and causing mischief in this new world gave me a touchstone to his earlier works. I think that the Brotherhood of the Griffon is my favorite creation of his and I would read about their adventures no matter what time period in Faerun they were in. Indeed, he may be my favorite author out of the bunch.

Thing 4- The work of Erik Scott de Bie. While not as potent as the first two, I find his work fascinating and entertaining. He really has a handle on party dynamics, especially trope irregular parties such as the classic "they all met in a dungeon". I think his short stories are superior to his novels, and I would love to see him write a comic as I think he would be *excellent* in this format.

That's it. Everything else about Forgotten Realms can burn, especially Drizzt and the horrid Mary-Sue Elminster. I would take great pleasure in watching him get torn apart by a REAL archmage, like Raistlin.

It begins... ;P
