Hey, it's still sunny in Las Vegas.

Good Morning everybody. What did I miss?

Your uniform, among other things.

Featherless pigeon?

I might crawl back into my warm bed...

So, he is ready for the roasting pan?

I crawled back in the bed, lied a bit, got up... And now I want go back to bed again...

I still want to go back to bed.

It's a bit coldish today and the heating is still low after many days of warm weather.

Took some time to watch BBC's "The Celts" over the last week. In one episode, while discussing the Scottish Black Watch regiment, they referred to my hometown of Ticonderoga, New York as being in Canada. Ehhhhh... close enough.

I bet it was revenge for the Amerivan WW1 documentary I saw the other day where they apparently confused the situation in 1917 with the one in 1941. ;)

(And also seemed to be under the impression that the western front was the only front...)

Yeah... American war documentaries seem to really like focusing on our own soldiers, often to the exclusion of more important players on the national stage. I once spoke with someone who not only didn't know that the Russians had more casualties than any other participating nation in World War 2, but also didn't have any idea that Russia even fought in the war. People tend to lose the scope of the two World Wars.

But...but...

If the Soviet Union hadn't been in WWII, they wouldn't have gone and gotten mad at the US for effectively screwing them over on the reparations promised from Germany and setting the stage for the Cold War which would haunt the entire world for decades to come and has lingering effects on global politics and economics to this day!

Evening, all. What did I miss?

8 out of 16 monster ideas for <redacted> finished. One more day to come with the remaining eight.

Hit the Popeye's drive-thru for dinner tonight. Ordered the 5 piece spicy tenders, but they only had 3 and it was near closing, so they gave me 3 mild to make up for the 2 missing spicy. Woot! Free tender!

We may have suffered a setback in one of my games. One of the players was using a really spiffy intelligent sword, a sword which his character was convinced is required to kill the BBEG at the end of the adventure path and the player is pretty sure that, while it may not be required, it will be very helpful. We use the critical hit and fumble decks, and he confirmed a fumble. We drew the card, and the sword was destroyed. Not just broken, destroyed. Some research found that the sword could probably be repaired, with magic intact, but would require a Make Whole spell at 24th caster level. Even then, the GM said that the sword was "dead", so it would lose all of it's abilities from being sentient.

And, of course, this happened while we were leading an invasion, so we don't exactly have time to mess around trying to fix it somehow.

I would have assumed they'd at least seen Rocky IV...

Four more monsters needed...

A bit of cheating but only three more monsters needed.

And here I am having a think about just creating 1 creature good enough for kobold presses Southlands KS.

Two more...

I am not working on full creatures at the moment, only on on ideas to be submitted to <redacted> for <redacted>.

Technically I need one beast and one monster...

That could be really cool, if you find a way to Reincarnate the sword, perhaps into an NPC & (s)he could help you work out how to defeat the BBEG

Animal beast or magic beast?

Not-Pathfinder beast. But should be closer to animal or 3.0 beast in being non-magical.

Giant pelican spider?

The beast is the last idea that I need to come with and then I can send it all to <redacted>...

Finished and send.

Now I can go to meeting with my GM and coplayers in planned Mars colonization game. Technocracy? I wonder how it will go...

Meh for rainish weather, though.

So, after a convo with Freehold, I renewed my search for a tabletop game. Yesterday I joined in on a 5e encounters session at a FLGS. I'm undecided on the system, but it was a lively and friendly group of gamers.

That is awesome especially the part about finding good people to game with.

First session of conquering colonizing Mars for Technocracy humankind campaign planned on 3rd of November.

Got an e-mail from the police today.

It said a traffic camera caught me driving 36 in a 20 mph school zone. Damn cameras.

Spoiler:

Work is going to suck the next two days. Yet another round of "must be in at 6 AM or get written up".

I am dreading what this new supervisor will be like come the January crunch. For the first time I think I am actually considering looking for other work, if it looks like I'm going to have to deal with an entire month of 6 AM-8 PM days. I will not be functional.

~shamples in, giving a very good imitation of an mindless undead creature~ Uhhhhggggggg..... Night shift sucks. uhhhhhhh.... ~shambles off again~

WTF do you do man? That is redonkulus

I do data entry for an accounting firm.

We're trying to get in the last bit of third-quarter processing done. And this is nothing compared to the hell that is January and getting year-end processed. Yet I've been there for three years and while they run us late in January - sometimes not closing til 8 or 9 - they never forced us to come in super early before, sometimes asked for 7 but never forced, and certainly not 6. This new supervisor seems to be intending to change things.

I had to do a week of 6 AM-start days back in July during second quarter and it was hell, including two near-wrecks because I am not a functional person in the early-morning hours and I have to drug myself to make myself actually able to fall asleep before midnight; my brain is too strongly wired to be nocturnal to simply go to bed early and actually expect to fall asleep. I can squeeze out the next two days similarly, but I am not going to put myself on sleeping pills for an entire month. No job is worth that.

Overtime is great and all, but one's health and sanity override that.

I know you mentioned loving your boss. Is he/she still there? Or did this new non-human take over?

Talk with the supervisor, perhaps. If the new non-human is unresponsive, it might be time to take it up with someone higher up the ladder. (If the original is still there, you might want to go over your supervisor's head and explain the situation.)
