The bad news: one of the apartment complexes I'm looking at has no vacancies and really slow turnover. If anything does come available, it won't be until September at the earliest, they said - and they can't guarantee it'll be a 1-bedroom, and anything bigger I won't need/can't really afford.
The good news: the other complex has a studio opening up this week and a 1-bedroom opening up early July. AND they agreed to meet with me after work tomorrow, despite being outside their usual hours. So HUZZAH for that!
I'm just torn about which to get. The studio is cheaper, I don't need a ton of space, and comes available sooner; however, I don't mind the extra space of a separate bedroom and living/gathering area at all, and the extra time between now and mid-July when it comes available is one more paycheck to have on-hand for moving expenses. I suppose I'll make the decision soon enough though =)

this sunburn thing makes no sense to me...
goes outside, absorbs more sunlight, uses resulting superpowers to fight crime

I'm sorry for the bad news on that one.
I would go for the studio, since it's a guarantee, than take a risk on the other and find out you lost the studio in the meantime.

Yeah I'm leaning that way. I don't really need the extra space - it'll just be me and eventually a dog and/or cat, and I personally don't use a lot of space beyond desk, shelves, and bed.
It's not super-bad news, both places are actually owned by the same company and run about the same prices. But that was the closer of the two (if only just; 10 minutes from work versus about 15, add 5-10 to each for traffic as necessary) and was actually in TN, while the other is just over the GA border. However, it's really well-located and a pretty nice place, so I'm not surprised at all that it's packed full and has low turnover.
Still, if I can get this other place, I don't mind the slightly-longer drive - it's no longer than my current commute =)

I think I've gamed once in about the last six months.
Well, that was expected side effect of going to different country to work. Two-two and a half months-maybe three months of abstinence more and I will get to GM something (assuming no unexpected twists of fate or such).

~winces~ Ouch! Yea. That sucks. I had to buy a new tire and get an oil change about 3 weeks ago. $160 that I did not want to spend.
And to think, I was JUST complaining about dropping 50+ bucks this weekend on a new showerhead after the old one died suddenly...Must be that time of year, things need to be replaced.

Customer paid ~$30 for a print. Four days later, $4 was deposited into my earnings account. The minimum withdrawal amount is $5, so someone else needs to buy another print just for me to be able to collect my money (after the 14-day waiting period, that is). F+%%ing diabolical.

Uh... $4 out of ~$30? Eh? Seriously? What do they print it on? Silk?

My Northwestern excursion is nearing an end. I will be glad to be done with business travel for a little while.
I wish I was traveling more with my job. Not that I want to be away from my family, but I truly enjoy travel.
Speaking of, yesterday my boss inquired as to my availability to attend a meeting next Thursday (26 June) in New Orleans. I said yes, since it dovetails nicely into my plans for that weekend - getting my princess baptized in Mandeville. Woot!

And last night I finally finished crafting the drain stand for my glass carboys. Very simple thing - a bunch of PVC fittings and some pipe, cemented together.
I crafted this because the shape of the carboy means that unless you have it sitting completely upside down it won't drain properly. Sit it at an angle and you get some water puddling in the curve near the neck.
It's ugly, but it'll work.
