Oh shoot.

The father of one of my players just suffered a brain aneurism. He lives on the other side of the country, so she had to book a plane on the run.

I'll be driving her to the airport shortly.

If they did not indicate where they are registered for gifts, is it reasonable for me to just give cash? I don't like bringing non-registry gifts to people that I am not that close with, since I have no idea what they would want.

Get them a puppy. Everyone loves puppies.

That is the worst advice ever.

Unless they are very wealthy, I can't imagine a young couple who would not appreciate money.

+1, you can't go wrong with money, a wedding is expensive!

you can wrap the money in some creative way (or let a professional do it) if you don't just want to hand over an envelope (we got some very cool and creative money gifts)

edit: tip from Sabine: let your boyfriend wrapp the money with floristic skills

we got money in a Weck glas (like a mason jar) rolled up like pickled herrings with pickle spices

That sounds awesome. I don't know what I would be able to put together like that since the wedding is out of town and it will be a 7 hour drive to get there, but perhaps we could have something put together in advance...

If I get some inspiration, I will go with it. Otherwise, the money will be in a card.

I'd vote for, "oh go on, do it. It can't hurt that much," for that title.

Got an email from someone calling himself creepyghoul... @dncafinance.something.

Yep, it is trying to convince me to get stocks of some sort. Except I didn't get from the e-mail what stocks exactly. Not only stock-related spam but an incompetent spam. And no, it wasn't virus-spreading or something as it was plain text without attachments.

Weird, English grammar fact. Passing the golf club car park, there's a couple of signs:
Men's Captain
Womens' Captain
for the car parking spot & after asking around, it is grammatically correct.

One of Charlie's favorite words these days is "guys". Whenever he wants to get the attention of more than one person, or inquire about multiple people, he'll say stuff like "Hey guys. Guys!".

Scarab Sages

And he's doing pretty good with the potty training these days. Not as good with the going to bed.....

Yay, for Charlie. :D

Scarab Sages

Today, in theory, we get U-Verse service at home: TV, Internet, and Phone. I say "in theory" because we can't have major changes (such as rewiring) done to the house without the landlords permission, which we didn't get because the AT&T people couldn't tell us for sure if they'd have to do any rewiring.

So I told the wife if they say they have to do rewiring tell them 'no'. We can either get them back after we get permission from the landlord, or get whoever had the existing satellite service for the house to re-activate that.

Scarab Sages

One of the crappy parts about renting. But a bunch of people told me it's the way to go when you first get to Houston (especially when you have kids) rent for a year and find out where you really want to live.

Scarab Sages

And even for a rental, it's an awesome house.

Scarab Sages

The wife loves it and Charlie runs around like maniac.

Scarab Sages

Time for more coffee, methinks. Then some work stuff. Later folks! With any luck, I'll be posting from home later on this evening.

Might have a GURPS game tomorrow.

Also a chance to start Kingmaker this weekend.

Lastly, I need to make a call to the University tommorow.

Wait, why am I making a status report like this again? Guess it doesn't matter.

Morning, all. What did I miss?

My Friday at work.

Weeeeeeeeeeeee!

Thanks for all the good wished, lads and lasses.

We're still waiting for news. Perhaps that's good, though, since maybe it means the stroke was not outright fatal.

My mom would get dollar coins, all of the same type, and put them in little mesh bags, tied shut with a ribbon. She then got a branch, and hung the coins off the branch and put it in a flower pot. to give them a "money tree". :)

When I moved into my house, U-verse couldn't schedule an appointment for me in less than 4 weeks. :( I work in IT, so I had to have service asap. My two year contract is getting close to closing, though. Maybe I should consider U-Verse again. The general consensus seems to be that it's pricey, but worth it.

My brother has had U-Verse for awhile now and loves it. And my appointment for today was made yesterday, so it seems maybe their wait time has decrease.

So far, I'm impressed. Everything is wireless.

Well, Scott's move to Texas mysteriously coincided with that state suddenly catapulting to the top of nearly every "This state is awesome" list. Meanwhile, little did Gary know that the New York heat wave he experienced was merely a precursor to even worse, all thanks to Dr. Eversummer's Heat Satellite. And, across town, a sudden knock on Jess' door signaled the arrival of.....No, wait! That's my soap opera.

WOOT! I finally got around to downloading a copy of Wayfinder #9! I haz bin published!!

Taskshaper is bookkeeping intensive but looking to be awesome.

Finally the Blue Mage class I've always wanted. And with nonmagical shapeshifting tacked on for kicks.

One-shot's going to be fun. First foray into full arcanist with an evil-aligned AoE evoker. Thy name is Collateral Damage Man.

Meanwhile, I--the DM for said one-shot--am quietly freaking out and plotting in a corner.

Jam today

Yay, Jam. What flavour? Blackcurrents' always a good one.

Good morning FAWTLY Folk! Happy Thursday! Yesterday was a pretty decent day. Got plenty of stuff done at work. Very easy drive in the evening. Arrived home to freshly installed U-Verse (as evidenced by my posting last night). Had a good dinner. And the boy went to bed real easy.
