Now after all that singing, time to get down to some serious business.

It's been a long time since we had a song lyric blitz. Where's Karaoke Ashe when you need him?

Again, sad zombie is sad.

If you do get to that stage:

Getting out of serving on a jury is tough, because the judges and lawyers are wise to the type of stuff people try to pull and have no patience for it.

If your aim is to get onto a jury, that's easier. Avoid telling either side exactly what they want to hear, and instead frame every reply with how impartial you are going to be and how you will reserve any judgment until you have been shown all the evidence. (If you sound too appealing to one side, the other side will try to exclude you, so the best bet is to sound so-so to both sides.)

Actually, depending on the case I probably wouldn't have too much trouble getting out of it. I've been a victim of violent crime, so that's one type of case they probably wouldn't take me on. I've had immediate family engaged in civil suits for damages due to injury, so that might insulate me against that kind. I've had relatives who were victims of fraud....etc, etc.

Started cleaning out my desk today in preparation for moving to another part of the building while they renovate our area. I was shredding files from over 10 years ago. Methinks I should clean out my desk more often.

Well, the online presence you knew as Karoake Ashe was, in fact, nothing more than a pseudonym for a secret military AI that has slowly been infiltrating varios messageboards and electronic social media across the planet in order to subliminally prepare us for domination by his masters - genetically modified super-dolphins developed by an even more secret military project!!!

Man, prepared casting is going to take a while to get used to.

WOOT!!! Civic duty!!!

Aww man!! I NEVER get jury duty!!!!

Aberzombie wrote:

I've never been picked to serve though. Makes sad zombie is sad.

The wife has been picked twice.

SO HAS MINE!!!! But they always settled when she went in... The one time I was picked, they settled while I was sitting down.

You see, this is why you don't get picked. Going in eager to..Ah..recycle someone you've already decided to consign to death is bad karma.

The only thing that bums me out about jury duty is that (if I recall correctly) they don't let you bring your phone in. So I'll have to find other ways to amuse myself.

Maybe bring a small note pad and write up game ideas.

NO FAIR!!!!

Hey! I resent that remark! I am NOT without some mercy.

AZ, using a soft cotton ball doused in alcohol to bathe the area they are going to use to administer the lethal injection is NOT merciful. Even if you do it gently.

Stalker?

Not exactly. She said she wanted me to teach her how to write stories better after seeing my works.

I ended up flipping my **** at her on more than one occasion over elements of a written work, and she kinda blocked me off for some time.

She seems to have put it aside, but our interactions seem pretty cold nowadays. I REALLY hate it when my past actions come back to bite me years later.

I know how you feel. Been there before. Then again, who hasn't?

Oh, I don't really mind it, especially since my favorite classes are charisma-based. I'm just worried it makes me a one-note player.

I guess it's for the best I switched characters. Last week, we had three asocial quiet types, and the quote of the night:

"Did anybody take diplomacy?"
"...I have a positive charisma score, does that count?"

So now we have a character that is actually willing to talk to people AND has actual reasons to leave the hometown without forcing the DM to murder/kidnap the family.

As a GM, I have been tempted to ban silent, brooding characters. They do absolutely nothing to advance the story and tend to be dead weight.

To brood silently is to save the world and get chicks at the same time. Bonus if you're wealthy.

As the GM, here's the former cast:

> Quiet, semi-reclusive, standoffish town healer and alchemist.
> Highly intellectual but poor with people elven noblewoman.
> Crass, semi-naive out-of-towner swordsman.

Not exactly all broody, but a completely socially-inept group. Switching the healer for the highly curious and personable Bard|Magus was definitely a step up.

Go go socially awkward world-saving party!!!!

No really, I loved it. Broke a guitar in Guitar Hero playing it on Expert, that was when I was getting sorta kinda good at the game. I miss Guitar Hero, but that was a truly one note series, no pun intended.

Considering Zombie does a miniblitz every morning, it's a lot. There's 5 threads between 30000 and 50000 posts apiece prior to this one... it'd take a month or more to read through them all >_>

and woo for not sick GM =D Don't die!

Easiest way to get out of jury duty.

(And yes, this is a true story)

Lawyer Interviewing prospective jurors- "What do you do?"

Prospective Juror #1- "I'm a Teacher."

Lawyer- "What do you teach?"

PJ #1- "English & Speech".

Lawyer- "Ah! I guess around you I'd better watch my P's & Q's!" <Chortle>

PJ#1- "No, actually I teach Theater. Around me, you'd better watch your acting."

Lawyer- "Dismissed"

Part of me wishes I could participate in PbPs with you guys. The other part is worried about whether I'll have the time.

I've tried to run a PbP here once in the past and play in another; had to drop the first when my schedule became too busy to run, and left the latter when I left the forum for a while, so I don't exactly have a sparkling record >_>

The elven noblewoman took a rank of diplomacy. She still won't be THAT talkative, but at least she won't make everyone scared of her simply by looking around... hm, maybe that rank should be intimidate instead.

Having a really off, emotional day. Now trying to write 2 essays while realizing that I already DID these subjects before.
