I guess it's for the best I switched characters. Last week, we had three asocial quiet types, and the quote of the night:
"Did anybody take diplomacy?"
"...I have a positive charisma score, does that count?"
So now we have a character that is actually willing to talk to people AND has actual reasons to leave the hometown without forcing the DM to murder/kidnap the family.

Hell, I've never even gotten to the point where they interview you and ask questions. Always get dismissed before hand.
I've never had the chance to yell "HANG THAT SONOFAB&*$%".
Again, sad zombie is sad.
If you do get to that stage:
Getting out of serving on a jury is tough, because the judges and lawyers are wise to the type of stuff people try to pull and have no patience for it.
If your aim is to get onto a jury, that's easier. Avoid telling either side exactly what they want to hear, and instead frame every reply with how impartial you are going to be and how you will reserve any judgment until you have been shown all the evidence. (If you sound too appealing to one side, the other side will try to exclude you, so the best bet is to sound so-so to both sides.)

I've never yet been asked to serve. Combination of youth and not being registered to vote for ~7 years out of high school, since I believe the voter registry is what they pull from to select potential jurors.
I registered to vote while getting my driver's license out here in TN, so I'm somewhere in the mix now.

As a GM, I have been tempted to ban silent, brooding characters. They do absolutely nothing to advance the story and tend to be dead weight.

Oh, they weren't brooding. They just weren't talkative.

As the GM, here's the former cast:
> Quiet, semi-reclusive, standoffish town healer and alchemist.
> Highly intellectual but poor with people elven noblewoman.
> Crass, semi-naive out-of-towner swordsman.
Not exactly all broody, but a completely socially-inept group. Switching the healer for the highly curious and personable Bard|Magus was definitely a step up.

The highly curious and personable giant lizardwoman Bard|Magus.

Then it sounds like this party was better off than some I have experienced.
I've had the quiet, broody, non-interactive character a few times, but most of them have been that the player is uncomfortable or new to the group, and the character improves once they come out of their shell a little. My brother's Ninja was that way for a while, for example. He ended up being one of the most interesting and fun characters in my Savage Tide group - Hantei Yasumoto, The Dread Pirate Ninja!
I have had a few of the kind you mean, though, and yeah they can be annoying. Sadly one of my KM party members has turned into that sort as of late.

Fascinating! This place truly sounds worth some investigation.
