Wife is angry with me this morning. As we were getting ready to leave, Charlie was crying a bit so she gave him his bowl of Cheerios. Then he got hold of his pacifier, which she had left on the coffee table. I took the pacifier away and he spilled his cheerios, which just pissed him off. So he was crying the whole way out the door and into the car. He calmed down pretty quick though.
While she was gone I never had these problems in the morning.

The new hire refused to tell me his middle name, which begins with an "n". Rather than sit there guessing, I gave him one.

One of my employees just found out that her husband, who works for my library's parent agency, was seriously injured in a car accident while on official travel.
Also, they're painting on the floor above mine, and the return air vents are dumping all the fumes right into our current workspace.
And, on a purely selfish note, to add the cherry on top of the crap sundae, it's been raining all day which means tonight's baseball game is likely to be rained out.
It will get better. Three and a half work days until vacation starts!

I don't know if he's going to be okay-- he's in critical condition. She's devastated and not terribly coherent. I'm worried about both of them.
(And, this is quibbling, but I wouldn't describe her as a friend-- she works for me. I like her, but professional connections and friendships are distinctly different relationships for me.)
