The naked truth.

~looks down~ WHERE ARE MY SCALES?!? ~runs away naked~

Stripped dragons are flying low today. Probably will be raining at night.

Good morning! I think I'm finally recovered from GenCon.

It was great to meet Matt and Blue Pigeon in person for the first time, and it was really awesome witnessing the burninating of yet another of Urizen's characters (this time, I didn't cause it).

What have I missed while I've been gone?

Ayup, mostly lots of great music.

And hello to everyone today.

DSX says nothing insightful or interesting.

Liberty's Edge Contributor, RPG Superstar 2012

If saying something insightful or interesting were a requirement for being in this thread, I would have been kicked out at its inception.

Morning, all. What did I miss?

Silver Crusade

Badger sighting!

Are you trying to kill me?!

Silver Crusade

I thought you liked turnips.

What a thoroughly frustrating day it's been. On top of (still!) dealing with relocating my whole staff, I've had the joy of dealing with our wonderful U.S. medical system. My doctor's been pestering me about my blood pressure for a while, but somehow, I think my blood pressure wouldn't be so high if I didn't have to go through the stress of dealing with her F*($*(Q# office staff and their complete lack of ability to communicate.

The importance of the hour that stretches has never been more paramount!

Nope. I like Pecan Sandies.

Unless I've gone insane and developed a split personality...

Remember Shiny, there are NO stupid questions,...

(Not saying you might not get some smart-@$$ answers though) ;P

Seriously, every one of your friends here will probably have a different answer to your question, and some of them might even be usable! :)

What's on your mind sir?

If you don't want smart-ass answers, you've come to the wrong thread.

Holy shit.

At least 4 people shot at empire State building. 34th between 5th and 6th. Just called jim Hanleys universe to make sure everyone is okay, and they are rattled but unhurt. No answer at the strat, but I don't think they open till 11. Not sure what happened yet, but it looks like a personal dispute that got out of hand. I think the cops shot the gunman. Holy shit.

WTF is going on in this country lately? I'm so sorry this happened, and especially sorry if it involved anyone you know, FHDM.

I narrowly missed out on being witness to a dad macing another dad as they walked their kids to the daycare kindergarten this Wednesday morning. First time I've been happy to be late for work.

Seriously, who brings tear-gas with him to his kid's kindergarten? I had some nasty classes when I temped, but that seems like overkill.

So far thank [$DEITY], everyone I know is fine, dear Lindisty.

Update reads gunman definite dead, as is one bystander.

Mace, morning star, flail. Whatever it takes... j/k

People seem to be on overload lately

Agreed, what is UP with these people? What makes them think that this sort of behavior is 'ok' in any way?

Don't get me wrong, I raise my voice much louder and quicker than I should, (I'm a product of my upbringing) ;) but seriously?

Entire planet needs to take one big PROZAC.

There was in fact some Public Enemy on the potential play list, the random feature did not play any.

Good.

In other gunman news, Behring Breivik was deemed to have been not psychotic during his killing spree at Utøya last year and sentenced to the maximum penalty (21 years in theory, but in practice it's a life-sentence).

The only, very small, downside is that this is what he wanted the sentence to be.

Yay, something actually worked out this time! I got into my last course off of the wait list and my schedule is now back to how it was before I stupidly didn't fill in forms on time. Now the only headache left is having to go and stand in the long line at the bookstore to buy my books once the financial aid funds clear. I was hoping they would be available today, but not yet. So it looks like I'll have to go on Monday unless they clear later today. But not having to go to the same class twice next week in order to get the section that works better for my schedule is a major headache off my plate. :)

The Exchange

You might wait till Tuesday most book stores are packed on Mondays.

Aw, so cute. And this is about the only way I can enjoy puppy cuteness since I'm super allergic to dogs. :)

Crimson Jester wrote:

I have a lot less time for line standing on Tuesday. Might be okay if I go in the early morning though. College students aren't known for being early risers. :)

But I'll go either tonight or tomorrow night if I can. It really just depends on when the financial aid office sends the info to the bookstore.

I don't know, but I see a lot of that kind of thing, albiet on a lesser scale. Friends choosing to publicly humiliate friends when they have a problem rather than talking to them privately to work stuff out. Exploding anger coming out of nowhere instead of a request like "I can't deal with that right now, I need you to back off." Email conversations at work degenerating into all caps exclamation mark filled rants with little to no warning.

I do this sometimes. Especially when driving - I will lose my temper very quickly then sometimes. I don't lose my temper very quickly, usually, but when I finally lose it, it can be pretty bad.

Is it that the internet is de-socializing us? Sometimes I wonder. Or maybe mass media and closer interconnectedness just brings more a+~+$~! behavior to our attention now, but it's always been there.

I don't think the internet is de-socializing us. If anything it's stress from too much socialization. There's no longer anywhere to truly get away from that person who makes you crazy. This is why I can't do Facebook. The only way for me to stay friends with people was to limit my interactions to areas with less crazy. The tendency of most social media to encourage expressing opinions in fortune cookie form doesn't exactly do a lot to encourage meaningful, thoughtful discussion either. In a society that already has issues with setting boundaries you get stress just building and building.

Call me a blue-eyed, naïve optimist, but I actually think it's this. And as nasty as some of the thing happening now are, when you go back and look at what society was like in, let's say 100 years ago, we actually have less violence, are more tolerant of people's differences (be they religious, political, ethnic, or sexual). I really do hope it's just a case of the "bad kids" getting more attention than the good ones.

The bad kids are always more interesting. People are getting along and nothing is happening doesn't make for compelling headlines. :)

It's some 1/3rd more than I had to pay last year for my laptop repair... Except it broke down second time (repaired under the first repair warranty) and now I don't dare turn on anything that puts strain on the CPU/GFX. Which cut me out of LOTRO and prevents me from buying Guild Wars 2... *sighs*

EDIT: Playing Guild Wars naked? Yes, please! If I could play GW2 without frying my laptop I would have no problem with doing that clothless. It's too hot here anyway.
