What? Where? WHEN!?!?!?

Been (NOT) patiently waiting for over a year for the new season to air here on BBCamerica. And NO sign of it. Not even a commercial saying it's coming.

ANd NOW they are starting the NEW new season? ANd we still don't have it here?
I feel deprived.

True- BUT,

Today's Dirty Rice is commonly just rice and hamburger meat with 'cajun' spices & seasonings.

Zatarain's makes mean box for easy Dirty Rice. Tasty. :)

In honor of this I picked up a box. Gonna add some hot sausage to the ground chuck and make it for dinner tonite.

How does their jumbalaya mix compare?

Also tasty. :)

I do enjoy cooking from 'scratch' (or at least not from a box) but most of the time I just do NOT have the time, or patience, for simmering things properly for hours. In those times, I turn to Zatarain's!

There are others out there arguably as good, but They have become my shortcut of choice.

Although, If I have my druthers, I'd pick up the box of E'touffe' and add shrimp! :)

I'm glad I have a working computer. Reruns of Law & Order would drive me to commit serious crimes.

I wouldn't mind cooking every now and then, but it's pretty much always from a box. I don't have a cook's sense or whatever it's called to throw things together without instruction and have it come out well. I can ad-lib additions to recipes pretty decently sometimes though. Just not a whole dish.

Hopefully I'll have something good to say about GenCon in a couple weeks.

Wow, Lisa had some really touching things to say. So, um, how many Fawtlies there teared up? :3

translation: Gingers have no soul.

Because we use them to make ginger-ale of course.

recipe:

Ingredients
1 1/2 ounces finely grated soul of a virgin ginger
6 ounces sugar
7 1/2 cups filtered water
1/8 teaspoon active dry yeast
2 tablespoons freshly squeezed lemon juice
Directions
Place the ginger's soul, sugar, and 1/2 cup of the water into a 2-quart saucepan and set over medium-high heat. Stir until the sugar has dissolved. Remove from the heat, cover and allow to steep for 1 hour.

Pour the syrup through a fine mesh strainer set over a bowl, pressing down to get all of the juice out of the mixture. Chill quickly by placing over and ice bath and stirring or set in the refrigerator, uncovered, until at least room temperature, 68 to 72 degrees F.

Using a funnel, pour the syrup into a clean 2-liter plastic bottle and add the yeast, lemon juice and remaining 7 cups of water. Place the cap on the bottle, gently shake to combine and leave the bottle at room temperature for 48 hours. Open and check for desired amount of carbonation. It is important that once you achieve your desired amount of carbonation that you refrigerate the ginger ale. Store in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks, opening the bottle at least once a day to let out excess carbonation.

Breaking news: AnarkoPaladins can't tell the difference between hearts and souls.

Yes I can.

I don't tear up. Something might be broken. However, much like Sebastian, I enjoy the taste of other's tears.
