Sympathies for Treppa, Lindisty, 8th dwarf's daughters and TOZ.

Where does 'being overtaken by Björk while out riding a bicycle' rank as a celebrity encounter?

I'm... not sure. Was she wearing a swan? That has an impact on the rating.

Rumor mills is alive for Transformers 4&5 to be shot back to back and released in 2014 and 2015.
Rise of Galvatron. And yes it is to be Michael Bay films.

Not the way I wanted to begin my weekend.

Most annoying, I hope your credit card companies are helpful and understanding and don't take long to refund the charges.

I'm so sorry, Lindisty. Living where I do that is one of my biggest nightmares. I pray your ccc will be able to reverse any charges.

Looking forward to it. Second movie was still awful.

+1 and for FHDM as well

yesterday we were at a Elton John open air.
we have this thing in my state, the Hessentag, it is a huge festival/fair held every year by another mid-sized town in Hessia, there is a fair, concerts, theatre, comedy-acts,, exhebitons etc.
this year it is in Wetzlar, 40 miles north of me.
I guess you would call it a State-Fair.

The show was GREAT, he played over 2,5 hours, introduced the support act himself (2 croatian cello players who played things like "smells like teen spirit" and "smooth criminal") the support went seemless into the main show as they started "saturday night's alright for fighting" and Elton and his band joined in
cool concept that, no break between support and main act

special props for the man because he was in hosptial with pneumonia the last week but did not cancel the show especally when he plays for the queen on monday.

Not sure what the proper etiquette is for this, but two players in my PF group (both self-professed spiritualists/neo-pagans) decided that one of them would give me (an atheist and skeptic) a tarot reading, just to see what would happen. And...

Spoiler:
The cards the woman doing the reading put down for the 'past' reading were, in order: Strength, The Tower, The Lovers, and the Queen of Wands. And as she was putting the deck down, The Devil fell out. The other woman said that she felt sick, and had to go into a different room, and the woman doing the reading had to stop the reading for a little while. What exactly happened here?

Ohh that is a tough one... I am skeptic and an atheist. Conformation bias is a big one here any card that came out of the pack would elicit a reaction, from good to bad as all the cards carry an assigned meaning (From memory the devil isn't actually a bad card it means change). So if a card that meant good things fell out they would be encouraging you or there would be little to no reaction.

My bet is something a little unfortunate happens they will point to the cards. If nothing happens then it will be forgotten. Correlation is not causation.... I politlely refuse such offers or if pushed I suggest that if I do the reading that they have to listen to a few episodes of the Skeptics Guide to the Universe especially the ones that talk about cold reading.

Close - it's the other normally-dreaded card, Death, that means change, or more accurately the ending of one thing and the ensuing beginning of another. The Devil represents ambition and desire.

Disclaimer: I'm not a Tarot believer, I just like the cards in concept and have used them as storytelling devices a time or two. Though the one time one of my characters had a reading done for her it seemed bizarrely accurate, I blame that more on our brains looking for connections than anything else.

Thank you Orthos. The cards are interesting, but don't let them freak you out.

That truly and rightly sucks Lindisity, hope it pans out for you. At least you realized it soon enough to stop them from making to many charges. :/

8D, sorry to hear about that brother.

On a family note we have sent our oldest to my Mother's farm for the summer, so we're down to just the younger two. Wondering if we can swing a sitter for tonight and maybe get with a couple of friends and hove ourselves our own little end of school party.

Related to the conversation at hand... On the streets of New York:

LADY SET UP FOR PSYCHIC READINGS: Readings, only $15!

LADY WALKING BY: No thanks.

LADY SET UP FOR PSYCHIC READINGS: I'm very good!

LADY WALKING BY: They all say that.

I was so happy that she said exactly what I was thinking. Like any psychic is going to say, "I'm actually kind of mediocre."

Silver Crusade

Sorry to hear about the theft, Lindisty. I hope you are able to get it sorted without much fuss. Most banks will credit back what was taken when you report things stolen. Did you lose your identification? That can actually be a bigger pain to replace.

Also, TOZ, where are you seeing Les Miz?

I'm not going to lie. I really want to see what Hugh Jackman manages to do with it. It will either be great or terrible.

*yawn*

Condolences for everyone who has suffered a loss or sickness.

Spoilered semi-religio junk:

Spoiler:
As a Panentheist, I consider the Tarot on the same level as the I Ching. They are interesting tools to try to tap into the meta structure of the universe, but they are often misused and misinterpreted. Also, I don't believe in fate or predestination. The future cards are pointing to statistical probabilities IMO. YMMV

A rainy Saturday, how neat >.<.

Time to get going. There ain't no rest for the wicked ...

So any big plans for my FAWTL brethren this weekend?

I'm headed up to Rochester for the weekend. The choir director I assisted all those years is retiring, and I am showing up at the reception in his honor as a surprise.

Nope. Work, some stuff needing doing around the house when I get home, then plan to laze about with what spare time I have left. Then church and more lazing tomorrow, then back to work on Monday.

Considering that she got pregnant on our honeymoon, meaning we had our oldest before we even had a 1st anniversary, we have been in parent mode for 98% of the time we've been married. I really hope we can get some couple time in this weekend.

Nope. Disappointingly bicycling-proper clothes and, what I'm in hindsight suspect was, a "Thank God I don't have to deal with Lars von Trier today" smile.

Dang it, TR, you're about 20 minutes east of me! Wish we'd had some time to meet.

I'm feeling better today, finally.

Gross Stuff:

The [something?] bite or sting above my eye finally stopped making that entire quarter of my face swell. It started turning wihite with black spots a couple of days ago, but last night it kind of opened up and the black parts started sloughing. I gave it a good scrubbing with hydrogen peroxide and antibiotic cream and it's now a nice, healthy, healing pink. No swelling at all last night, and the lymph nodes are all down in size. There's a little residual bruising around the eye, but it's not bad. *whew!*

Considering we have no insurance nor money for medical bills, that's a big relief.

eeeeeeewwwwwwwwwwwwwwww

Glad it seems to be fixing itself, eyuchk!

Hehehe, sorry. :) But it is rather amazing how well our bodies can recover from all sorts of things if we leave them alone to do it.

I can see how that would make romance a little more difficult.

Mrs 8D and I were together for 7 years before we got married. I asked her one day when she would like to have children - she said "when I get married" so I said "would you marry me".
