Signature Deed

Gunslinger Discussion: Round 1

I really don't like this feat. I shouldn't be able to replicate my 20th level capstone ability 9 levels early with the use of feats. A capstone ability should be something unique that's a reward for sticking with the class through 20 levels. Making the same ability available through feats cheapens the capstone and makes me feel like there's no point in me really sticking with the class all the way through, I could drop it at level 11-13 and still have more or less all the benefits from it.

Anyone else feel like that?

It's true that while the gunslinger's capstone can be replicated by a feat is kind of lame, at this point signature deed combined with lightning reload is the only way for gunslingers to benifit from there full BAB at the moment... that and quick draw spam with a brace of 8 pistols and a horde of hirelings reloading them for you.

I absolutely agree. There shouldn't be a feat that replicates a class's capstone ability (or in this case, 1/2 of a class's capstone ability).

It would be like taking two feats, and gaining all the benefits of a fighter's 20th-level weapon mastery ability.

That's just another of the laundry list of problems with Gunslinger right now that people have gone into detail on in other threads. I think they should either change True Grit into something more unique or get rid of Signature Deed, preferably the former.

I agree on changeing the capstone for gunslinger compleatly at this point. To me it seems weak tea when compared to other class's, I mean the ninja becomes completly undetectable by anything except a godly perception roll, and the samurai becomes unkillable to anything except the person of his chooseing...

Many feats duplicate part of a capstone ability -- as does this one. That doesn't mean the feats are bad or the capstone is horrible -- it just means that some abilities are such you don't want to wait until 20 to have part of it.

Personally I hate having a "signature deed" that I can't steadily use until 11th level. I would like to have my signature be something that can see use earlier than that.

Well, unkillable by weapons wielded by others. Spells, abilities and the environment can still kill him.

Your right sorry. Im at work and quoteing what I remember from skimming the class last night at 4am.

I think this is less a failing of the feat and more a failing of the capstone, to be honest.

Agreed. The gunslinger's capstone is very underwhelming.
