Animal Shamans - Wild Shape uses per day

For Wild Shaping the Druid level of an Animal Shaman of the Advanced Players Handbook is level - 2 or level +2 for the specific animal. My problem is now, how do I define the uses per day?
for Example on level 6:
- 1/day as a level 4 Druid (so the lowest of all)
- 2/day as a level 6 Druid (level adjustments only counted in for effect not for uses per day)
- 3/day as a level 8 Druid (2 of them only usable for the Shamans favored animal)

I'm in a game with an Eagle Shaman who's leveling up to 4th for the next game session, so this is going to come up soon.

I read this rule as getting larger animal sizes 2 levels sooner then normal for the favored animal, and 2 levels later then normal for all other forms. Also they can stay in the form 2 hours longer in favored form than normal, and 2 hours fewer for all others.
