Here we go. My actual submission is the second in the big thread.

Life Syphon:

Life Syphon
Aura moderate necromancy ; CL 9th
Slot – ; Price ZZ gp; Weight –lbs.
Description
This rusty iron flask is sealed with a blood-flecked stopper, which is affixed to the rest of the flask with a short, reddish leather strap. When you unstopper the flask an eerie gray mist emerges and engulfs every creature in a 20 ft radius. You can throw the Life Syphon as a splash weapon with a range increment of 10 ft before the mist emerges.
The mist opens bloody wounds on the skin of all creatures it engulfs, dealing 1d4+4 points of damage and causing bleed 2. The Life Syphon sucks the blood from the wounds in long, thin trails into the flask, resealing itself thereafter.
The blood then transforms into a magical reddish liquid, storing the stolen life energies.
When a creature drinks this liquid it heals a number of hitpoints equal to the initial damage the mist inflicted. Any excess healing is gained as temporary hitpoints that last for 1 hour instead.
If the flask is empty for 24 hours the mist reforms and the Life Syphon can be used again.
Construction
Requirements Craft Wondrous Item, inflict light wounds, mass, vampiric touch ;Cost XX gp

Soul Syphon:

Soul Syphon
Aura strong enchantment and necromancy ; CL 15th
Slot –; Price ZZ gp; Weight – lbs.
Description
A dark, oily mist fills this unshapely lead-crystal vial. Sometimes vague shapes, like tormented faces and long wispy fingers can be seen forming and then dispersing in the mist.
A thin mithral chain is loosely wrapped around the vial and links the vial with a black onyx stopper.
After unstoppering the flask a horde of dark, shadowy spirits emerges and assails all creatures in a 20 ft radius. You can throw the vial as a splash weapon with a range increment of 10 ft before the spirits emerge, without breaking the Soul Syphon. The phantasmal assailants rob their victims of a portion of their life-force, bestowing 1d4 negative levels unless the creature succeeds on a DC 22 Fortitude save. The spirits then return to the vial with their bounty, shadowy fingers resealing the vial behind them.
After the spirits return to the vial the mist transforms into a dark, oily liquid, with flickering motes of purple light.
This liquid bolsters the creature that drinks the liquid with the stolen life force, bestowing it with an inspire greatness effect for one round per level drained.
After that the spirits reform over the course of 24 hours.
Construction
Requirements Craft Wondrous Item, enervation, greater heroism; Cost ZZ gp

Memory Syphon:

Memory Syphon
Aura moderate divination and enchantment; CL 7th
Slot –; Price ZZ gp; Weight 1 lbs.
Description
This small waterskin always seems to be inflated with air. When you open it and squeeze the air out, a strong, howling wind whirls around you in a 20 ft radius. Every creature caught in the wind except you must succeed on a DC 16 Will save or be dazed for 1 round and loose all memories of the past 15 minutes, their thoughts plucked away by the wind. The Air whirls back into the waterskin, inflating it again and restoppering it.
The memory syphon then fills itself with a strong alcoholic drink that imparts the stolen memories on anyone who drinks it. This works like recalling Memories with a modify memory spell, but also gives access to the affected creatures surface thoughts during the memory as with detect thoughts and random glimpses of subconcious knowledge, granting the drinker a +4 competence bonus on all knowledge skill checks for 1 minute per creature affected by the wind.
Experiencing the memories of multiple creatures at the same time however taxes the drinkers mind, inflicting 1 point of Wisdom damage for each memory recalled after the fist.
After the drink is removed from the waterskin the waterskin reinflates itself over the next 24 hours, after which it can be used again.
Construction
Requirements Craft Wondrous Item, detect thoughts, modify memory; Cost ZZ gp

Round 1:

Disclaimer:
Ask A RPGSuperstar Succubus is posting from the point of view of a CE aligned succubus – fairness is an adjective applicable to hair coloration, balance is what a couple of mortals on opposite ends of a plank pivoted on a rocky spire above a drop of several hundred feet into a pool of molten basalt frantically try to do, and logic is something which proves anything a demon of adequate status and charm requires it to prove.

Life Syphon:

Spoiler:
Is the item Pretty?
Blood flecked is nice touch, but otherwise no.

Does the item help a demonic seductress to keep a paladin house pet?
Err, no.

Is the item otherwise useful?
No.

Other Comments? (including World Domination potential on the evil laughter scale, where appropriate)
Item appears to be a combat item (ick) meant to distract an enemy for a short time. You throw it at them, engulfing them in mist (so they can't see you and you can't seem them?) and then they pick the item up and drink the contents to heal themself of the wounds they just took (assuming that they know what item is and how it works).

Gollum Rating:
Yuck. We doesn't like it, my precious.

Soul Syphon:

Spoiler:
Is the item Pretty?
Mithral mention is interesting, but otherwise unappealing. 'Vague' is no good for tormented faces. I want to be able to see all the details, and to hear them actually (or telepathically) screaming.

Does the item help a demonic seductress to keep a paladin house pet?
Err, no.

Is the item otherwise useful?
No.

Other Comments? (including World Domination potential on the evil laughter scale, where appropriate)
Item appears to be a combat item (ick again) mostly meant to distract an enemy. You throw it at them, engulfing them in a cloud of spirits (so they can't see you and you can't seem them - and by the way, why don't these spirits shriek with malicious glee? Are they angels or something?). Sometimes the spirits suck life-force out of an enemy, and sometimes the enemy resists it.

Gollum Rating:
Okay, this is starting to get boring now. At least the first one had blood all over the place for a few moments. No rating.

Memory Syphon:

Spoiler:
Is the item Pretty?
No. Categorically not so at that.

Does the item help a demonic seductress to keep a paladin house pet?
Yet again, no. I mean yes this and the previous two could have applications if you get really creative, but I can be at least as creative with a stick of celery, a leek, and a piece of spaghetti.

Is the item otherwise useful?
Not very.

Other Comments? (including World Domination potential on the evil laughter scale, where appropriate)
There are times when it is useful to make someone forget the events of the last fifteen minutes, but it makes rather a lot of noise doing it and apparently is somewhat hit and miss in whether it works or not. And I'm a succubus. I don't need to drink stuff to know what people are thinking. It's usually:

  • 'Cor/phwoar, she's hot'.
Followed by one or more of (depending on the circumstances):
  • I think I'll chat her up/I think I'll try and tear her eyes out/I think I'll run away.

And if that's not what they're thinking, and I can't read their minds because their minds are magically shielded, I doubt that this will work on them...
Still, making someone forget the past fifteen minutes... Okay, that is occasionally useful.

    Gollum Rating:
    Fissssh?

  • As a final note, I will observe that apparently there's nothing to stop the user from being caught in the effects of any of these items (eek!) if a throw happens to ricochet.
And whilst an item could be used to catch several enemies at the same time, why in Orcus' name would a succubus even want to be in a situation like that against multiple opponents?

Alright, that was a handy test-run. I may need to polish my reviewing formating. I shall therefore be gracious, and say thank-you Azmahel. If you keep this up I may offer you a boon to your strength or wits, perhaps, or just a *tiny* little kiss... ;)

    Edit:
Although on a humorous note regarding your algebraic notation I would like a word with your item manufacturer if it costs the same to make the item as he/she sell it for... ;)

Azmahel, do you have detect thoughts, greater working? Your memory siphon is all too similar to something I _was_ hoping to submit next year!! (BTW, were you deliberately using the archaic spelling? You're also missing the second "s" in subconscious- just trying to help! *takes off the English master's mortarboard*) Not bad, overall- good thematic links between the three "syphons."

Succubus, you had me laughing my celestial ass off... if only you weren't so... evil. Paladin housepets, indeed! I can think of one paladin in particular I wouldn't mind seeing become a pet of your's, though I doubt you'd keep his annoying ass around for long. Sir Ruelin of Tarnia from my old Norithia campaign, where are you when a succubus needs you!?

My apologies all, I listed SKR's advice on anything I thought was coming close (figuring it needs to avoid potential questions). I see now I should not have been so picky. I hope the critiques helped in any case, I am sure the practice did :).

    The Hand of God

    Spoiler:

„The hand of god“ makes me assume that there is only one of them, and that it is an artifact, also I wonder which god gave away his hand.
there is no „one hand“ slot. (e.g. the glove of storing uses the hands slot too)
“The user can cast a spell” - what? Once? At will?
“the power of god” Which god? And since when is casting a spell equal to the power of a god? Are all wizards gods now?
Godly magic? Do clerics use Godly magic (capital G) do Gods cast godly magic? Or do wizards do ?
The ability to cast any one spell is powerful, but gaining that many negative levels is a huge drawback. Compare to a ring of spell storing. You can't spontaneously decide which spell to cast, but with a bit of foresight this isn't too bad. But then again its about 1 wish per week. And thats plenty of power...

    Puzzlebox of Delightful Snuff

    Spoiler:

descripiton could be tidied up and tightened a bit.
I don't like the random elements
after all it's just an extradimensional storage with a SiaK tacked on.

    Saddle of the Grassland Knights

    Spoiler:

Could care less about the background and history parts.
Basing abilities on character level rather than itme caster level makes the item very hard to price
You state twice the speed of the phantom steed spell. And giving these abilities to a mount that can actually take a punch makes the effects all the more powerful (extreme movement rates + Ride-by-attack anyone? )

    Death Mask of Amryn Sul

    Spoiler:

Again unnecessary backstory, but like the abilities. Speak with dead is missing a DC, and animate dead without material components could be a problem, but since you are limited to one zombie at a time I don't really think it is.

    Wizards Heartfire

    Spoiler:

    Howl's moving castle?
This is more a setpiece than a magic item. Nice to give some flavor to a wizards home, but not very exciting or useful, even for the wizards who can simply prepare most of these spells and cast them at will anyway.
