I'm entering the contest for the first time this year, and I'm finding it really strange how nervous I am about it, even more so after reading threads like this, mainly because everyone seems much more mature and experienced than myself, who has only been playing since the 3.5 edition of DnD. I find every day a little more nerve wracking and exciting :-)

Best of luck to all entries this year, even if I don't make it through, I'm going to keep a close eye on this contest, if looking back at the last few years is anything to go by, there's going to be a lot of new ideas from a lot of talented people popping up, and where there are good idea's there's new inspiration! :-)

Hi IllyD,

Let me be the first to say congratulations upon entering RPG Superstar, boy oh boy... you are in for one heck of a ride (whether or not you achieve Top 32). I have entered (this will be year #3 for me) and have enjoyed each and every attempt (although I might not have been "mature" enough in the first year... some fellow Paizoians attempted to help me see what wasn't Superstar about my item, and I don't think I took it well).

Anyway... RPG Superstar is something I have come to anticipate and look forward too... this year is no different.

This contest is, Bar None, one of the best (if not the best) things to happen for RPG freelancers and the RPG industry as a whole.

And in just 2 short weeks... we get to see who made it this year, who wowed the judges, and celebrate with them as they make further attempts to wow us, the voting public, as well. I can't wait. :)

So, good luck, and great job on taking that first step into the wider world of RPG Superstar.

And Congratulations Everyone! :)

Thank you very much for your words of encouragement.

I had no idea a competition like this existed, its like the X-factor for us aspiring writers, only less fake and 20 times more enjoyable. And with the amount of experience on here, its near impossible to walk away without at least gaining some insight into how to better your own creations, and the fact everyone seems so willing to help is refreshing as well. :)

I can definitely say that I'll be back next year if I don't make this years cut, and it's something I'd recommend to all my creative friends too. Thank you Paizo for giving us this great opportunity :)

This is my 3rd year entering, and even though I've not been selected to advance, I've enjoyed every year. It's been good times, noodle salad.

Welcome IllyD!

RE: extra rounds
If the 'keep' pile consistently has 64 people the judges could leave it at that. If your round 1 entry was also the round 2 entry, it creates a break for the judges. Let the public go from 64 to 32. It would take several years of top 64 behind the scenes before we get there, but it could happen. :)

However,
I too felt the first year really dragged on. If another round were added, I think it would have to televised (podcasted?) and kept short. An hour, or maybe if you got a Sunday slot, a live two-hour special. Something with music, fast cuts and high-adreniline danger!

Announcer: Nice autumn leaves competitor B, Let's see how they handle a... *pan right to a three-story curtain* [soundFX]dice/drum roll[/soundFX] ...a T-Rex!!
competitor B: awww, competitor A's anvil got a measly flumph... my dice are such @#$#@$.
Cut to diary booth:
Competitor C: uh oh... that leaves the jabberwocky for my vambraces!

It could happen :) Great Job everyone!

I imagine the judges will have their hands full over the next couple weeks. Thank you for your time and effort and best of luck to everyone!!

It is entirely possible. In fact, I've often wondered why my belly-button was on the back of my neck...

Liberty's Edge

The only thing I would like is if my item doesn't make it to the top 32, I would love to be able to see the Judges honest, I don't care how harsh, opinions and thoughts they had on it when they judged it.

And early gratz to those that do make it!!!
