Poster to Advertise Society Play at My FLGS

Pathfinder Society

Scarab Sages 2/5

I am going to put together a poster to advertise PFS at my local game store where there is currently no PFS activity.

Has anyone else done this? It would be great if I could steal someone else's creation whole cloth, but I don't mind putting in the work if no one has.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

I'll be mining the community use images for material, though I am happy to use anything else that I am pointed toward.

I know that images put up in the blog can be used by non-profit sites like the pathfinder wiki, but can they be used by me to advertise PFS?

Tam

We have some PFS posters I can send to the store. All I need is the address.

Hyrum.

Cool, their address is . . . .

IMAGINE! Hobbies & Games
8122 Hwy 107, Suite C
Sherwood, AR 720120

The owner and manager is a guy named Jay. This, to my knowledge, is the only real game store in the Little Rock area. Though I would be happy to be proven wrong if this isn't the case. I need to get some regular PFS action going on there so I can dust off my skills before PaizoCon 2011. I am planning on ironmaning all the PFS play slots again.

I sent you an e-mail of the flyers that we use here in Georgia stores (I didn't put together the background pics, but I did set them up in Powerpoint to make it easier to change the wording and everything!)

Hope that helps!

Add me to the list of persons wishing for a PFS poster for our FLGS. We host games through Championship Games, 909 Broadway St, Cape Girardeau, MO 63703. Our store owner, Shane, has been gracious enough to let us carry PFS four slots a month.

If I can get you an e-mail I can send you something that you can print out and hang tomorrow at your FLGS if you'd like (until Paizo sends their official material)!

I did a small series of posters for our stores (Bay Area Pathfinder Society) and would be happy to share, and to some degree modify if you cannot (done in Photoshop).

However, I have seen better though I don't remember who did them.

I have been Photoshopping some colourful flyers for pinning to store noticeboards or attaching to emails, advertising individual sessions of Pathfinder Society, eg date, time, scenario, store location etc.

I've distributed these among the Venture-Captains, and some of them have been using these at recent conventions or store gamedays, so some of you might have seen some of these flyers already.

I originally produced them for my own local store gamedays, but soon realised I should produce both US Letter and International A4 sizes to eliminate white page borders, and create higher resolution versions that can be printed out clearly at A3 size.

I've been wanting to laminate these so they can be pinned to store noticeboards and write-on/wipe-off with new session details each week.

I'm currently on holidays, so can't send or take any requests until I arrive home and back to work (where I have access to Photoshop) in the New Year. But I think a better idea would be for me to host these flyers somewhere others can download them, because taking personal requests quickly becomes unmanagable.

I'd prefer to host these online myself, so I'm able to edit, replace, create new versions etc, which should benefit everyone. All I ask is a little patience, and check back again here early in the New Year.

Cheers,
DarkWhite

I recommend Stephen's work, it fits the bill for what I needed.

Why? I've heard there is only, what like 20,000 Pathfinder players, with just over 2,000 PFS players? You can handle that, can't ya? huh? huh?

Ooh, ooh, me too! Please! Finally getting some interest up at my FLGS and posters would help immensely. Will check back for Stephen's update.

@Hyrum: We could use some PFS posters at the Comic Emporium, 2403 N Highway 231, Panama City, FL 32405. Thanks!

You'll need to download and open these flyers in Photoshop or [ http://pixlr.com ] to add details of your event - eg location, date, scenario etc.

Pixlr is a free online Photoshop look-alike, built in Flash there's nothing to install, just visit the page and start editing, perfect for quick tasks such as adding a layer of text to a graphic flyer. Once you have the text laid out the way you like, and maybe your store logo in place, you can save it in .pxd format which keeps all the layers editable for your next gameday. Just save a .jpg copy out for printing or emailing to your player-base.

I recommend the Papyrus font for that authentic lost treasure map look, though you could use a marker if you've got clear handwriting and/or no computer/graphics savvy.

I've provided examples of a gameday and convention flyer as a suggested layout, but VCs have used these flyers for session/room/signup sheets at conventions and I'm sure you'll find your own creative uses for them.

I printed several of these at A3 size (double normal page size) and laminated them at my local Officeworks. They're pinned to my local gamestore's noticeboard, and I can write-on/wipe-off scenario/date details with erasable pens each week.

I also attach a flyer to my emails to Pathfinder players on my store mailing list each week to advise players which scenario is being played next.

I'll add and replace flyers to my Picasa web albums from time-to-time with new characters/creatures from the [ Paizo Blog ] (as per the Community Use Policy) for variety.

I hope these flyers help to promote and organise Pathfinder Society in your local community.

Amazing work Stephen, thank you!

Yes this is amazing!! :) I am thinking of making and then printing some of those up from Stephen... and then having "The Source" hand them out to people when they make their purchases! :)

Thanks for all the positive feedback guys, but the credit really should go to the original artists. Putting these flyers together is pretty basic Photoshop layering, something I couldn't do if I didn't have such inspiring imagery to work with! Paizo products have some of the best artwork out there, hopefully these flyers will help draw people in by featuring some of that.

Cheers,
DarkWhite

Stephen, I didn't know you were the one behind all these! Anyway, I got them from VC Brock and I put them all in PowerPoint because it's easier to change the information for game sessions. I didn't manipulate the new ones yet that I see posted on your Picasa.

Anyway, I hope these help people! (Link goes to download .ppt) I know us Georgia Store Liasons put them to good use!

Hi Joseph,

They may have been the older versions I was using that weren't quite US Letter and not quite International A4 size (as per the two examples I saved to my web albums), which may have contributed to your Powerpoint version looking a bit stretched and blurry.

The new ones in my Picasa web albums should be a better fit, and higher resolution, which also means larger file size, but they can be printed out at A3 (double page size) if required for store noticeboards - ala the laminated ones I'm holding in the photo. Though I recommend down-sizing before saving to reduce file-size if emailing these as postcard reminders to your player-base.

Powerpoint is probably a good idea for anyone more comfortable with that application, as it makes text editing rather easy. Though the http://pixlr.com option is rather good too - you add your text and save as a layered .pxd file as your master copy, and just change the details from week-to-week and save a .jpg copy for printing/emailing. I recommend you give it a try if you haven't already, as having an online graphic editor of this quality is very handy for other projects too - scenario maps for example!

In any case, I'm happy for you to maintain a Powerpoint download as an organiser's resource, though try import the new Picasa images into your Powerpoint file and see if that helps eliminate the stretching and sharpen the image quality.

Cheers,
DarkWhite

Hey Hyrum, a game store just opened up near to me, and our two PFRPG groups are trying to convince him to carry Pathfinder stuff. I bet getting some info &/or posters from you guys would be a big push in our efforts.

His address:
Norm LaBarge
Norm's Hobby

St. Johns, MI 48879

Thanks guys!

We're hoping to start a PFS game in St. Johns, and the posters Stephen made will be put to good use when we do.

Do you have these in InDesign format?

Stephen,

Can you post a new blank "scroll" with the new PFS logo? I'm not too savvy with modifying the .jpg images you have now to remove the old logo without leaving a messy white splotch behind the newly inserted one.

Thanks! Eelario

Updating the PFS logo is something I've been meaning to get around to, but haven't had the time to attend to yet.
