Magus makes an awesome switch hitter

Round 3: Revised Magus Discussion

Though many of the new Magus' abilities are for melee attacks, Arcane Pool doesn't have that limitation.

Therefore you can be a badass in melee, but when necessary, quick draw your +5 caustic, flaming bow and pump it up to a +5 caustic, flaming, frost, shock, speed bow. A few feats like rapid shot and deadly aim will cause your DPR to skyrocket even more.

Not all that comparable to a dedicated archer, but certainly nothing to sneeze at! :D

sounds.....dangerous lol, 1d8 plus 3d6? elemental ouchy, what is caustic anyways?

It's like flaming, but it's acid damage. It's in the APG.

I reported this a long time ago, why haven't they moved it to the proper forum yet?

You can even learn Gravity Bow using an arcana, 2d6 longbows ftw.

Unless you're houseruling that, then you can't have all of those abilities on a +5 weapon. You could have a +3 caustic, flaming, frost, shock, speed bow, but not a +5 one. Those would add up to a +12 enhancement bonus, which I'm sure is still the maximum in Pathfinder.

you forget that a bow can shoot magic ammunition ;)
+5 arrows, and a bow fling, frost, shock, speed

enjoy

You mean I counted and recounted and I STILL got the math wrong!?

Darn it!

The Magus would have to spend a point from his pool for each arrow he wanted to give the bonuses to. I didn't consider this because it is a ridiculous waste of resources unless you have no other options. While I grant you that it is feasible, I am sure no one will ever do this under most circumstances.

@ Ravingdork: Each energy type is +1 (so +4), Speed is +3, and the enhancement is +5, so +12 cumulative. :D

If it works similar to the AD bard ability, it'd be x amount of ammunition...not a single arrow.

Sovereign Court

Or you could just cast Fireball or Lightning Bolt and not waste money on the bow...

Against a single target the bow does far more damage on average and doesn't waste your valuable spell slots for the day.

True. I guess you're better off with the spell against multiple targets, but at least the spells are free.

And damage from the arrows isn't subject to a Reflex save, useful in the case of targets with Evasion. It's definitely a huge investment in resources, but there have been times in campaigns where a +5 blah, blah, blah, blah bow would have been awful handy :)

+12 cumulative is epic, stud, unless I missed a note in PF somewhere.

+10 is the cap.
