Still Confused, Re: Broad Study

Round 3: Revised Magus Discussion

Quote:

Broad Study (Ex) : A magus with this magus arcana

must select one other class that grants the ability to
cast spells. The magus can use his spellstrike and spell
combat abilities while casting or using spells from
the spell list of that class. This does not allow him to
cast arcane spells from that class’s spell list without
suffering the normal chances of arcane spell failure.
The magus must be at least 6th level before selecting
this arcana.

Two things:

1. Is this only useful for a multi-classed Magus? Or did I miss some way to add Cleric/Druid/"other than Wizard" spells to the Magus spell list?

2. "...Normal chances of arcane spell failure." Does this refer to "normal" for the Magus, i.e. never in light armor (or heavier depending on level)? Or does it refer to "system" normal, i.e. the ASF as listed for the various armors?

It's pretty clear.

Let's break it down.

Choose another spell casting class. Let's pick cleric.

The magus can use spellstrike and spell combat while casting or using spells from cleric spell list. Okay, so I can Spell Combat when casting Bless. Cool.

This does not allow me to cast arcane spells from that class without the normal chance of arcane spell failure. Okay, but since I chose cleric, that does not apply.

How would I get a cleric spell list? Easy. I choose cleric as my class whenever I level up.

Really, they should have changed the wording to say choose a class you have. It still confuses people for some reason.
