Hey,
I am looking at magic item creation and one item that I want to get a cost of creating is Boots of Displacement. They would effectively be the same as boots of speed (10 rounds a day, click heels to activate, same spell level, etc.). When creating the item would you use the same base cost as the boots but change the spell of creation to be the appropriate illusion spell in this case?
So boots of displacement as mentioned above would have a base cost of 12,000 GP?
Thanks

They should cost about the same as a major cloak of displacement, which does the same thing, possibly more because you're avoiding taking up the cloak slot. If you dropped the cost due to a lesser duration, it becomes comparable to a scarab of protection or lavender and green ioun stone, but both of those have limited charges so I think the boots are better. I might split the difference for 45,000.

I always thought you looked at items of similar power which would be the boots of speed in this case.

Did you skip step 1? (Items of similar power)
