I'm calling that she faked her own death to get out of dealing with her psychopathic family.

Or someone else faked her death. Maybe, oh, I don't know, an...illusionist?

So how long till they all start double crossing each other?

You mean they aren't already?

And Nale needs to grow up; that raspberry was totally unnecessary. ;P

Sovereign Court RPG Superstar 2009 Top 32, 2010 Top 8

Oh I expect that Malikath will still get his revenge on Nale.

Though it is interesting that the guild is a known force in the empire...

RPG Superstar 2015 Top 8

Yeah, Malack's definitely a wild card, I am very interested to see how this will develop.

Poor half-dragon kobold, how long will it be before he's a hat?

Liberty's Edge RPG Superstar 2008 Top 32, 2011 Top 16

I want to see the flashback strip of Thog flooding the palace with lemon pudding....

I can't articulate why, but my money is on Malack.

DeathQuaker wrote:

I hadn't considered half-dragon. I just assumed it was an Urd, which is just kobold born with wings... which might be the same thing as a half-dragon kobold. Fantasy biology is so confusing!

Anyway, I think that the administrative urd dying fast is too obvious, if he dies at all. I think there will be a twist to him. Either he is surprisingly effective, or his loyalties aren't that straightforward.

Unnecessary, certainly, but completely in character. Nale's emotional immaturity is one of his hallmarks.

And given Tarquin's knowledge of narrative devices, surely he knows what happens to the evil twin when he goes to confront the good twin at the end of an epic quest. That he's not telling Nale? Classic Tarquin.

RPG Superstar 2015 Top 8

Andostre, I entirely agree with everything you say.

And yet I still want to know, how long will it be before he's a hat? :)

The race is ON

Spoiler:
Will he be promoted, executed, promoted to wight (i.e. both promoted and executed) or will Xykon kill him accidentally?

I'll take option E. All of the above. Possibly several times.

Darkjoy wrote:

Yes. Yes it is.

And what a group of competitors we have.

The Order of the Stick.
The Linear Guild (now with Tarquin!).
Xykon, Redcloak (Wrong-eye) and Tsukiko.

Let the games begin.

This is too good.

See, I thought it was that he'd want to put it back because taking candy from a baby is an evil act.

I sure hope that no one on team Xykon has any ability to speak with the dead to find out what happened...

You mean common cleric spell? Gee, I think that Redcloak used that in the past at least once to interrogate one of dead goblins or something like that.

That would require PC logic.

Though it would be funny...

*X is about to wipe out the OOTS*

"Now I'll"

*resistance finally throws it in the warp*

*X collapses into a pile of bones*

Belkar "Collapse into a pile of bones? That was his brilliant plan?"

Enough with this "Goblin Tolerance" nonsense!

This is what happens when a Goblin is allowed to get more then two character levels!

So get out there people, and keep this tragedy from happening to your community. Kill a goblin today!

Redcloak may be LESS evil than Xykon...

but he's still PLENTY EVIL!

P.S. Love the osmium elemental! :)

Jason Nelson wrote:

I don't know about this. Redcloak seems methodical while Xykon just seems to be evil for the sake of being evil

Actually, if you have ever read Start Of Darkness, you would see that Redcloak is no where near as evil as Xykon.

Well, now we know that Redcloak is 17th level. What's the highest level spell that V (non-spliced) has cast? The Order needs to do some serious grinding if they want to defeat team evil...

I think V has used prismatic spray, and I know V has learned power word, blind, in a rather hilarious strip about how many pages that spell would take up in zer spellbook. Those are only 7th level, so if the order on the whole is 13-14, just taking on Redcloak would be a super-challenging encounter. Uh oh...

Wow. I'm always amazed at how much can be done with stick figure art. In this case, I wouldn't have thought imploding stick figures would actually make me flinch, but...

I'm willing to bet the protagonists will demonstrate some leveling themselves, at least, just to keep the good/evil level disparity the same as it has been prior.

They're not caught yet but it don't look good for the Azurite resistance. They may have one page left before getting turned into pinátas.

Well, if the Order is level 14 now--and I think it's been a little while since they leveled--and Redcloak is only just become level 17 (CR 15-16), they have a good chance of leveling before encountering him where he won't yet gain another level, and the fight would probably be a little more even.

The harder part would be all the minions tiring out the Order before they get to him. If they fought him 5 on 1 he would probably go down pretty fast.

Woooow...

Then again, Redcloak does possess an artifact of unknown provenance (his eponymous garment), so it's possible that would tip the scales more in his favor. If he has PC-level gear, that's an extra +1 CR! :)

Redcloak probably took Risk Management as his newest feat. 'cause Common Sense he had for some time now. Or maybe that's just how he looks when compared to Xykon.

Spoiler:
Also, I don't recall her name being told - will she tell it or is she doomed to die before?

What an amazing comic...

Anyone else see the pick-haired Haley in one of the panels?

Scarab Sages Contributor, RPG Superstar 2008 Top 4, Legendary Games

I have one word for today's comic (or, really, the last couple):

INTENSE

Chilling would also work.

Redcloak has definitely Taken a Level in Badass, hardcore style.

Aren't goblins efficient in tragedy? Or tragic in efficiency? Or something like that, anyway?

And here I was in the middle of the Presidential primary season waiting for a Watergate punchline.
