Belkar's first comment is hilarious. "Biggest dump since Elan assigned his Intelligence score."

I wonder who the Champ is, what he / she / it did to get imprisoned by Tarquin, and whether Roy will win, die, or be able to convert the Champ to their cause.

I'm secretly hoping that The Champ is a retired boxer who "loses it" every time he hears a double entendre, but somehow I doubt it.

Hmm, Redcloak's brother after a Raise Dead?

Actually having the Champ be Thog would be a great way to get the LG back in.

Personally I keep hoping it's Thog.

Shadow Lodge

Thog, really?

Because I'm still wondering how they got Mr. Scruffy away from V and into a tin can...

Do you imagine Roy going all out to try and defeat Thog? That's not what I'd envision. And on the heels of one "I don't want to fight you" duel?

I'm hoping that the Champ is someone against whom Roy can really get mad and let loose.

But Elan is still up in the balcony...

I thought the "finely chopped counts" line was pretty good too.

That's pretty much what I was thinking too. :)

Total awesome!!! I was hoping that is how it was. Or a pixie or something totally silly like that.

I was kind of expecting a rencarnated Miko Miyazaki or another Azurite paladin but this is good also.

Loved the title of the strip and the Queen references throughout.

"Give me the sword. Then run."

For some reason, that made me laugh.

This is going to be the fight of the century. Well, maybe not the century, but it'll be good. And interesting. No matter how it turns out.

Grand Lodge

Hahaha, I so called it. And I was sure I'd be wrong. I can't wait to see how this plays out.

OOTS # 788 : A Vexation or Irritation

I'm starting to appreciate Tarquin's comments even more...which I'm sure Tarquin would appreciate.

#784
Elan: Hooray! The people whose names I know are saved!

Tarquin: Oh, come on, the soldiers?

#788
Tarquin: It's weird, no matter how many people he kills, the audience still thinks he's lovable.

Is someone talking to US?

Jon Brazer Enterprises

Really? because I appreciate Thog's lines:

#788 yes. thog remember thog had to power attack to cut through-

#253 little man talk funny.

#252 oh little ice cream friends! thog delays boredom-driven rampage only for you!

#393 bull rush tackle hug!

#392 thog get in touch with inner greenness ... thog get in touch with outer greenness too.

#389 but thog just finished step 3: stuffing potato salad into giant wooden alpaca!

Personally, I think thog needs his own spin off comic.

+1 With Elan.

+1 With Elan.

Oh, I agree...I just also think Tarquin has a point, as well. ;-)

Glad I wasn't the only one picking up the subtext on those lines.

Yep. I still enjoy Thog (and Belkar) but the subtext is there.

The overall meta on this comic is actually really crazy.

When you start out with characters who know what hit points and character classes are, it's hard NOT to get crazy meta. :)

Although rereading previous strips, I'm not sure how I feel about Tarquin and I using similar arguments about alignment...

Perhaps there is something in that worth pondering. ;P

Likely.

It was not always clear how much Thog actually understood that the things he had done were evil.

Well, part of that is because Tarquin, like Elan, is dangerously genre savvy and therefore knows the inherent hypocrisy in painting any one person the spotless "hero" or giving someone a pass for all the evil they've done because they were too clueless to realize it was actually evil.

While Tarquin is undeniably evil, and realizes this, he also realizes that his action can't help but bring about some good for some folk because that's the nature of life.

Excellent strip. Wow, blast from the past...

Ouch, the title of the comic is a stinger!

Dark Archive

I would love to have been able to read Tarquin's mind when Haley invited V and the cat along for "sex."

I'm going to have to go back and do some re-reading, but I forgot when the last time we saw Nale and what he was up to. Also, I miss the other villains. Probably been almost a year since we've seen them.

Jon Brazer Enterprises

Last time we saw Nale was in the 400's (aside from the Elan's dad's flashback). So he's past due. The last time we saw that drow was #65. That was 2004.

Sonofa- don't remind me how long I've been following the strip... where has the time gone?

Dark Archive Bella Sara Charter Superscriber

It'll be interesting to see if the dwarven cleric of Loki will show up too.

And is that winged kobold the newest iteration of the anti-belkar?

Damn good stuff. I love how the giant set a certain level of expectations re: the Linear Guild. He showed us their pre-encounter planning before the two groups met last time, and then their escape from the paladin city. They weren't on my radar at all to show up in this plotline in part because we didn't get that side of the story.

I really hope that the strips continue to play out this way - I'd hate to have a cut to Nale and Sabine explaining their plan. I want to see it play out as the Order does.

I didn't start reading the strip until about this time last year, so it hasn't been as long for me!

For the drow, yep round 2. For the main Linear Guild (calling em LG seems a bit odd due to alignment meaning of LG) round 4 with OotS either at 3-0 or 2-1 (depending on how you count Cliffport).

Actually the last time before Tarquins flashbacks that we saw Nale was Moving The Pieces so we may be seeing more on the gates soon.

Oh, yes...but I believe the secretary demon's line in the last panel of the previous strip may be my favorite line ever.

I want a t-shirt of THAT!
