Words of Power: Playtest

Round 2: Words of Power Playtest

Welcome to the second round of the Ultimate Magic playtest. In this round, we will be looking at the Words of Power system of alternate spellcasting.

This messageboard is for the posting of actual playtest feedback and reports. We are looking for information on how this system actually responds to play conditions. Is it balanced? Is it simple to use? Does it slow down play? Is it easily understood? Discussion based solely off observation and speculation belongs in the Words of Power: Discussion forum.

I look forward to seeing your playtest feedback and comments. Remember that everyone here is on the same team, so play nice. I will see you all on the boards.

Glad to see the separation of the two subforums! I'll try to throw a playtest over Thanksgiving if I can and have it posted here ASAP.

I also concur on the separation of discussion and playtest reports. I too hope to have a proper playtest of the rules in the offing, though whether I manage to do it does depend on how long the playtest lasts. Is there any word on the expected end date for the playtest?

Just finished making a Phantom Subschool wiard wordcaster for testing this saturday. Just wanted to say that the proced was quite cumbersome and time consuming, at least compared to making a spellcaster of the same lvl.
It took me about an hour and managed to put together about only 6 of all the spells he has available, then i figured it was unlikely he would be using any more, so left it there. The most time consuming part is checking and double checking the costs for every word, specially since there is no specific formual that determines their cost. primary and secondary costs only agravate this issue.

So I just wanted to ask to make sure that there will be some kind of master shart with all the words available in order to facilitate character creation specifically of NPCs.

I'll be posting how the character worked out after game this saturday.
